Reading the positive reviews on here, I am puzzled as to why this location is closing. I stopped by yesterday on my way to Madewell(never made it there) only to notice the final sale signage plastering the front doors of Marmot. As of this writing, the store’s last day is April 8; items with red tags are 70 percent off and even the regularly priced merchandise is being marked down 30 percent. The employees were very friendly. I wound up with a spring jacket, layering vest and(deeply discounted) workout tank and shorts. The merchandise has a lifetime guarantee and I am looking forward to busting out my new outerwear during this latest bout of unpredictable spring weather. I only wish that I’d known about this store sooner, as the merchandise is quality. I plan to return before the final closing date, even though such an action will likely make me feel like a vulture picking over the remains of roadkill. I hope Marmot returns to Chicago at some point. Apparently this store is expanding throughout the country, but this location just wasn’t working out which is a shame.

This place is fantastic. Great UPF clothing, very lightweight and very durable at the same time. Why does everyone in Chicago wear NorthFace or Lululemon… seriously ya’ll look like dorky clones. Try Marmot and switch it up. Besides the founder of Lululemon named it that cause he likes to make fun of Asian’s pronunciation of L’s. Plus the pants He sells are crap and get that piling on it. Women, no matter how in shape you are, you do not look good bent over in see through nappy pants. It’s nappy. Here’s a link to the a-hole founder Buy Marmot!

Five stars for the awesome customer service and the amazing Labor Day sale. We seriously cleaned house at this Marmot and it was due to a combination of both these factors. The salesgirl was super nice and helpful without being pushy at all. She knew a ton about all the equipment and gear and stacked all our purchases as we browsed — and was able to give us some great advice on all of it. I normally use Marmot and Mountain Hardware for the hikes we do each year, mostly in the Adirondacks and Vermont in the fall and spring. The sale that was going on during our visit was astronomical. I was able to get a waterproof shell, a raincoat, a pair of shorts and two long sleeved t-shirts for running in cooler weather. This is a Marmot worth visiting, primarily because of the knowledgeable staff, great customer service and very good sale prices. A+!

While some of my friends may be a little annoyed that Aldo is no longer here, I’m pretty excited about having a Marmot store nearby. The staff is super friendly and helpful. As soon as you walk in you are greeted and if you have any questions everyone is quick to help. The have a great range of clothing from ski jackets to flannel to fleece. They also have a nifty touch screen computer/tv/thingy on the wall by the register to show you other products that may not be in store but that they can get sent in. I’ve been really happy with the fleece and rain jacket I bought. The Goretex in the rain jacket makes a huge difference with the nasty, cold rain Chicago has to offer. If you are at North Face or Patagonia just go over to Marmot to so you can have a few more options to choose from. PS — Keep your eye out for the oh-so-adorable stuffed Marmot they have in the store.
