I accompanied dear, sacred friends of mine to Luca Luca today. This is the last place I’d expect to review, and also the last place I expected to have a business meeting. I can’t really describe the clothing very well, but I can share the experience. First, for you long-time Chicagoans, it’s always my great pleasure when on Oak St. to remember the tastes and smells of the friendly Acorn on Oak(where the stodgy Northern Trust is now located). I can still taste those awesome burgers with bits of green pepper and other goodies stuffed inside. That was my kind of place. I ate their with my grandparents frequently, because they lived around the corner. My grandmother bought my Frye boots and high school prom and graduation suit up the street from where Luca Luca is now.(mid-1970’s). Today, my friend’s wife was shopping for their son’s wedding and other events. We sat on the couch. First we schmoozed, reminisced, and told each other dirty jokes. Then we discussed our business. Now and then she would emerge from the dressing room to ask our opinion of various skirts, dresses, blouses, boots and shoes. We answered honestly. I’ve known these folks 35 years; they’ve been together forever. We are frank. She is gorgeous and always has been. I thought nearly everything looked terrific on her. It was fun to see the clothing«modeled» this way. The staff was delightful. Wine flowed. The music was unobtrusive. We were there a pretty long time before we left for lunch at the Oak Tree, which seemed better when it was at the end of the block. I would take my daughters to Luca Luca for a treat one of these days IF I could afford it(in my dreams). It’s high end. Not for the common budget, but appears great for special occassions. And, the best place I’ve had a business meeting in quite a while.

This place has really cute clothes, esp. special occasion dresses. However, I can’t justify spending $ 750 on a sweater that I can surely find for $ 25 at Filene’s. ..

I just wore a gold silk gown from Luca Luca to my son’s wedding and everyone said I looked like a goddess! I have purchased 4 dresses from this store and each one has been incredible. It helps to be tall and thin but if you’re looking for a spectacular dress for a special occasion this is the place to go. Since it is such a small store you never have to worry about seeing anyone else in your dress and when you’re spending so much money that is also a plus.

Everything in Luca Luca is stunning. The best pieces are clean and simple, done in luxe silk. Great suits for a sophisticated wedding or Bar Mitzvah. Check out the red carpet to see starlets decked out in Luca Luca.
