Very nice and chic location. I’m a workout fanatic who loves to look the part both inside and outside the gym, so finding the hottest, most fashionable gear is important. Although I did not make a purchase, Athleta was awesome. It just reminded me too much of Lululemon and my logic is, «If I want Lulu I’ll just go to Lulu.»

I went in today looking for a specific sweatshirt in a specific color. I couldn’t find it, multiple employees helped me look upstairs and down– no one could find it. They checked the computer system — which said 3 were in stock, about 3 – 4 employees kept looking for the sweatshirt– even checking the basement for this item. Luckily they found it! I feel they went out of their way to make sure I had what I came in for– it is much appreciated! Thank you!

Phenomenal customer service! I had a complex purchse. They smiled and helped me through it. I came to the store at the close of their work day to buy gifts. The staff let me stay after closing and helped me find the right size and top for each person on my list. They also printed seperate gift receipts even though I purchased all the gift on one card. I also used mutliple gift cards/coupons. They never acted like any of this was an inconvinience. Great staff– will make this my regular store!

After wearing lululemon for years, Athleta simply doesn’t compare. The fit and style simply doesn’t work for me. Plus, with employees like Trina, I cant imagine this store being all that successful. Other employees were great but it really just takes one person to ruin a business.

When I heard that Gap’s Athleta brand would soon be gracing the Gold Coast, I jumped at the chance to attend the grand opening on Friday, January 30. The Athleta brand, with its stylish workout wear and lower price points, brings a decidedly sporty vibe to the Oak Street shopping strip, known for its high-end brands(think: Harry Winston, Jimmy Choo, Tom Ford). I was surprised at Athleta’s decision to open a store amidst such heavy-hitting retail tenants, as opposed to the Mag Mile or Walton Street, but these are obviously smart people who know what they’re doing. Not to mention, I’m all for any retailer that will challenge Lululemon, which seems to be omnipresent in this area. The newly-opened Athleta is located in a two-level brick building that once housed Juicy Couture. On opening day, I braved a line – yes, a LINE – to get in to the store. Fortunately, the good folks at Del Frisco’s were working the line, handing out hot chocolates to stave off the chill on a cold January night. The reception was standard, with pumping music and wine/nibbles. I did buy a couple of items – floral printed leggings and a coordinating top with mesh panels – but will probably be back once the crowds have settled down so that I can have a better look at the goods. The fact that this is a newly-opened store means there is no sale rack(boo) so for now I will have to content myself with the online outpost and Frontenac locations for my fix of bargain-hunting. I will probably be back to this store, however, as it is definitely a viable entrant on the athletic apparel scene, with the bonus that I will not see myself coming and going in the same Lululemon gear as everyone else whenever I hit the gym.
