Repeat. Awesome. Love it. The husband got the Blvd sandwich this time and thought it faboo. This place is a must-try. Turns out some of the drinking establishment patrons saw our sandwiches last week and ordered for the first time, then a total of three times in the week alone. Fans, fans, everywhere fans. Do it!

The West Sider is delicious especially with the garlic sauce. The Sandwiches are pretty large so no need for double meat. The only thing I would change is the cheese on the sandwich and I didn’t care for the potato salad, chips would of been better. I’ll definitely go back!!!

We ordered the West Sider and the Beast for delivery. Both were delicious! I ate the west surer, which for me was a good amount of meat and the garlic sauce was incredibly flavorful. I was only able to eat half of it and I saved the rest for lunch because it’s such a large sandwich. The Beast, however, my fiancée ate. That sandwich was HUGE. My fiancée is a big guy, but he wasn’t even able to eat it in one sitting either. All in all this place is fantastic and we will be ordering from here again.

Absolutely love the Blvd Sandwich. The best sandwich joint in Chicago, in my opinion. Yum

It’s really easy to miss Humboldt Haus as it’s tucked away in a completely nondescript building on North at the tippy top of Humboldt Park. I’ve driven by it a million times, and while I’ve noted the«Sandwich Bar» marquee, it’s over shadowed by the«LIQUOR» sign next door. But being next to and connected to a liquor store is a good thing. The beer selection is top notch and the cocktails are great. The sandwiches start off on the right foot with fresh bread from D’amaro’s bakery. Next up fresh toppings, meat and cheeses with homemade sauces. They’ve got the ratio down. Definitely recommended for a reasonably priced lunch and also a great spot for a simple but flavorful weekend brunch.

This place has everything you could want. Awesome and inventive sandwiches and booze. I wish they would sell their sandwich sauce by the jar! I’ll be back FORSURE.

My new favorite sandwich shop. The place is cool, they have a great beer selection, and the 9″ Italian is the best I’ve had in a long time. Will be back frequently and recommend strongly for those looking for a true deli sandwich.

AMAZING sandwiches! Trust me, when you want a real deli sandwich, Humboldt is the spot. Fresh local bread brought every morning, sauces made in house and they load up the sandwich with meat and cheese. I had the Italian and it was so good. Salami, capicola, pastrami and provolone, yum! That’s a proper sub. The staff is super friendly, and they have 20 craft beers on tap AND a bar. That and tvs, what more could you want? A liquor store to take some drinks to go? Yeah they have that too. An amazing(and unexpected) wine, beer and liquor selection is attached and Johnny, the manager, has to be the coolest dude ever. He even sets aside some of the more rare beers(goose island bourbon county, zombie dust, etc) for his regular, loyal customers.(so go there often :)) Thank you Humboldt Haus, I will be back.

A great regular spot for sandwiches and amazing beers. Selection of beers on tap is superb. You’ll always find something you like without being overwhelmed with too many options. There is talk of hot foods coming which will be even more awesome. But if it stays sandwiches, I’ll still be happy.

4.5 stars This place is so close to my house that I feel an unhealthy obsession coming on. I can’t believe I’ve went this long without trying it! The subs are DEFINITELY big enough to share… still I make the mistake of eating the whole thing every time. Its just too good to stop eating. I order my subs for pick up, its always ready by the time I arrive and the staff has always been super friendly. Love that you can get a sandwich and side for $ 9, although I wouldn’t recommend the pasta salad. The pasta salad is drenched in way to much mayo. They offer a decent selection of chips. stick with those. Also while you’re here pay the guys at the liquor store a visit. They are so knowledgable and friendly! Great selection of beer and wine as well.

What could be more chill than beer and sandwiches, and that’s Humboldt Haus! For lunch, I got the West Sider Sandwich(the turkey/pastrami one). The French bread was crusty on the outside, but soft on the inside like it should be. Unfortunately, way too much garlic mayo and«Haus dressing,» a semi-tart sauce. The taste of the meat was masked. Everything was so drenched, and my sandwich was getting soggy in my hand. This was the equivalent to the big mac’s of sandwiches. When I eat sandwiches, I like fresh bread and ingredients without a lot of condiments so this isn’t for me.

Friendly staff, cute looking joint. $ 20 for 2 sandwiches(the beast & all veggies), 2 bags of chips, a side of macaroni salad, and a side of potato salad. Not a bad price, as the sandwiches are pretty big(bigger than the large sized sandwich at Potbelly). The beast had too much meat on it for our liking, but the meat lovers out there would go crazy for it! The garlic mayo on the sandwiches was delicious. Bread was fresh and held its own. We weren’t a fan of the macaroni or potato salad, but I don’t think they were bad. Just a little too sweet and mayonaisy for our taste. The serving size was very tiny! Really great chip selection(«DIRTY» brand). It’s within walking distance of our house, so we will definitely go again.

If you are looking for a massive old fashioned Italian style sub, this is the spot. You’re paying a subway price for fresh French bread, an inch of satisfying deli meats, and a variety of quality veggies and sauces. If you’re looking for 10 different craft beers on tap… this is also your spot. The 8 seat bar welcomes any who wants a good beer with a heartfelt conversation and the 6 or so tables lend themselves to a quick weekday night out with friends. It’s also right across the street from Humboldt Park so how can you go wrong. Great addition to the neighborhood.

I loved both sandwiches I have had here: The West Sider and the Italian. Huge, delicious, and awesome. I need to eat here more often. The side salads are tiny in comparison to the giant sandwich, but who cares, I’m only there for the sandwich anyway.

Vegetarian review here: Was in search of a good ‘ol sandwich spot, and saw that vegetarians love this spot. So I was disappointed when I was underwhelmed with my Nothin’ But Veggies Sandwich. It was barely«ayight.» It had lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and a few other veggies but I don’t remember what they were because it was that unmemorable for me. The garlic mayo didn’t stand out either. Also, the«side» it came with was more like a «bite» of potato salad lol. Again, this is a vegetarian’s perspective — the bf who eats meat liked his sandwich — I just don’t think this is worth going to for a vegetarian.

It took me awhile to write this review because I’m still trying to recover from the Meat coma I was put in by the absurdity of the sandwiches my roommate and I ordered. It was probably about a month ago, after a long night out my roommate and I were looking for a sandwhich shop that we could pick up from. We decided to try out the Humboldt Haus as it was only a couple of blocks away. Walking in you find a nicely laid out and extremely clean area with super friendly staff working away. We both order the exact same thing. Large Beast Double Meat… Needless to say it was absolutely delicious and the perfect cure to the left over alcohol swirling around from the night before. Though I will never order the BEAST with double meat, because it is completely unecessay and ruins their already perfect meat to bread ratio. I’ve picked up a couple other times since then and each time they didn’t disappoint.

Pretty solid sandwich with a good beer list. Place is small and so is the menu, but good grab n go type of place. They give you a good solid potion of meat on the sandwich a well.

Very impressed with this new place! Great beer selection and very good deli sandwiches. The bar tender was a likable guy and I will certainly return. I’d go 5 stars if they offered chips AND a side. Hint, hint…
