Great atmosphere and conveniently located in the train station by the ticket windows on the second floor. Though small(3 chairs) you never feel cramped. Irene is who I go to every time so I can’t speak about anyone else. But if you are a first timer I recommend her.

Yesterday I got a haircut at this location for the first time. I’d previously visited the Lincoln Park location. This location is very unique. It’s at Ogilvie in the Citigroup center tucked into a small corner. You might walk by it on your daily commute and never notice. The salon itself is a study in efficiency. It’s about as big as a closet. There are three chairs which convert seamlessly into shampoo stations. The paraffin dip is hidden in a drawer. It’s really cool. Other businesses should adopt this type of efficient model to provide services in small spaces. I never felt cramped or crowded. During the spa treatments – a paraffin dip, hand massage and facial wrap – I was blissfully unaware of the hordes of commuters bustling about just a few feet to my left. I have to say the spa treatments were the best part of my experience. My haircut isn’t exactly what I wanted. I think the stylist just didn’t get what I was going for. My hair is okay but I feel like I really had to guide her along the way. It was a bit uneven and I had to point this out. I feel bad writing this because she did really great with the spa stuff and the styling. Whatever. This is what happened and I’m accurately recounting my experience. I can’t decide if I’ll go back. It is super convenient and the spa treatments were very relaxing. Maybe I’ll just book a massage next time.

As good as it gets. .. . Adrienne cuts my(tough to manage, curly) hair right every time. A bit pricey but definitely willing to pay the extra bit for the great job she does. You won’t be disappointed.

I really enjoy getting my haircut here. I bought a Gilt City certificate and scheduled an appointment with Irene about a year ago and I have been hooked since. Irene does an outstanding job, remembers things you’ve talked about, and is very professional. The location is random, but the service makes up for it. I have never had trouble getting an appointment and have never had to wait. The common experience is as many have described: paraffin dip, shampoo, hand massage, cut, shampoo, scalp massage, blow dry and style. Note: Don’t skip the paraffin dip! You’re not a sissy if you do it. I can’t speak to the other stylists, but Irene has done a great job with me so far.

I have been a regular here for the last several years, Adrienne has been cutting my hair and she gets it right always, i mean i think i have never got a bad cut from her. sometimes its a little hard to make an appointment, or get someone on the phone but I have become a loyal customer, cant really go anywhere else. I am always treated very well and I enjoy the old fashion non-salon sort of feel.

I did it because of the coupon. I probably would not have known about this place if I hadn’t received one. Due for a haircut and after reading all the reviews, I decided to check the place out. First off, the space itself is situated in a very ODD spot; in the back corner of the second floor of the Citicorp Center next to the Metra ticket counter. I saw the line in front and gasped. «Oh wait,» I thought. «These are just people that are heading home for the weekend.» Came in and was greeted by Adrienne. She did a nice job overall: got the paraffin hand wax, hand massage, hot towel & facial toner, shampoo… not to mention the actual haircut. Service was great, and Adrienne was nice… but I’d probably wouldn’t go back. If you are into the whole pampering thing while you get your haircut then this is for you. I feel like I’d be paying for a lot of extra stuff that I don’t need. Plus, my usual barber can just cut my hair and I’d pay half as much. They took care of me, but I’d rather have the extra $$ to spend on something else.

Yessir this place delivers. Came in with a Gilt City certificate for«The Man.» First off, Halo is a bit hard to find. It is tucked away in a corner on the 2nd floor of the Ogilvie train station by a nails shop. But once I was in, it was a quality experience. I was taken care of by Irene, a sweet girl who holds a great conversation and has solid skills. The Man started off with a paraffin hand wax, which was weird at first. I realized later I’d get an amazing hand massage from it. This comes after having a shampoo and as I relaxed with a hot towel put over my face. Bliss. Irene also did a wonderful scalp and neck massage that was oh so relaxing. The cut was also great, its all done by shears and came out clean. I was very satisfied with the haircut overall and got good compliments. I’d def come back to Halo, but it will hit the wallet if I do. Plus my barber of 5+ years is 3x cheaper than here and the man, so I don’t know. It’s tempting. Reasons for not getting 5 stars: 1) I did not get my complimentary beverage. 2) While the rest of the haircut was great, my left sideburn was trimmed at an unusual angle. My hometown barber checks to make sure they end up even and parallel with the arms of my glasses, and the left one was off after the cut. I trimmed it up in a sec at home, so no biggie. But as a famous historian once said, «Sideburns make the man.»

To be honest, I’ve never set foot in the place… but: Adrienne cuts my guy’s hair and he looks super hot every single time. Absolutely the best stylist he’s ever had~ and his hair gets kinda big & crazy so she’s got her work cut out for her heehee :) I’ve recommended to my friends with guys in need of some sexifying too. I wish girl salons went through all the extra fuss with us! i’d take a hand massage and steam facial over a gossip magazine while i process ANYday.

Have been coming to HALO for about a year now. It’s around the corner from the office, and came highly recommended by a friend. I had never experienced the hot-towel-on-face treatment before(had never even seen it done outside of barber shops in cartoons), but I’m hooked. They lay this hot, steamy towel on your face while they give you a hand massage. Sold. I’ve always been really happy with the cuts I’ve received. The service has been consistently outstanding. The product recommendations Adrienne has given are always spot on — that said, they don’t try to upsell you to death. Very refreshing. The space is on the small side, but no matter. It’s comfortable and fits the bill for an urban«mansalon». Ask for Adrienne — she’s the best. To be fair, I haven’t given any other stylist at HALO a chance to work on my glorious mane, but she’s my girl. Can’t recommend Adrienne or HALO highly enough.

One fine afternoon I noticed that the scruff on my face was getting a bit unkempt, and needed some attention immediately! Enter Halo for Men. Found this place totally on accident during my lunch hour downtown. It’s on the second floor of the CitiCorp Building, near the Metra ticket counter. The stylist immediately invited me inside, sat me down, and while she professionally trimmed my beard, goatee AND moustache, carried on a nice conversation, even complimented me on my dreadlocks(which at the time were not as long as they are now). I rolled the dice again recently, and it came up lucky 7 again! Same professional and laid-back service as before. Yes, I will absolutely enter back into the Halo when it is time for the beard and goatee to be given the attention it deserves!

Went in for a hair cut and was pleasantly surprised by the unique treatment I was given. I really enjoyed getting my haircut at this location and regardless of it’s small space, the stylist were professional, courteous and polite in every way. Not to mention the skill and precision of the cut and style. I’m definitely going to be returning to this location, but I think I’d like to try one of their full spa treatments at a different location.

I have never considered myself to be metro-sexual and therefore have not really given much consideration to my hairstyle. That was until I was getting married and all my gays were telling me they forbid me from getting married with a mop on my head. So they booked me a MAN treatment at Halo. Absolutely the best thing they could have done for me! I got pampered: paraffin wax and massage for my hands, refreshing hot towel for the face, and an excellent cut and style for the mop. I felt refreshed, relaxed, and feeling like a million bucks! Not like some metro-sexual, pantywaisted, Nancy. OK, maybe that was a bit harsh but you get the point. ;) Want a great style without having your Man card revoked? Go to Halo and ask for the MAN. It’s worth it! (FYI: this location is in the Ogilvie Transportation center so it’s extremely convenient for commuters out of that station)
