My boyfriend and I ordered dinner and our appetizer at the same time. His meal came out first and half way through the bartender told me mine would come out shortly. About 5 minutes after my boyfriend finished his entire meal, I asked the bartender the eta. The bartender said they wrote my meal on a separate ticket and it must have got lost. I got my dinner 20 minutes after my boyfriend finished his entire dish. This was annoying to say the least. Not sure I’ll be back.

Pros: Great drinks, nice beer garden, and patient server. Cons: The food was HORRIFIC! Everything tastes like freezer burn, stale chips, the blue cheese looked like semen, I don’t want to talk about the taste. The steak was so chewy, I wouldn’t give it to my dog. If you’re hungry, don’t bother coming here when then twisted spoke is right next door, otherwise the beer garden is great for drinks.

Grandview has many things going for it: an extensive list of beers at reasonable prices, an absolutely stunningly beautiful garden, clean bathrooms, and friendly service. The one thing I wish I could say is that I loved the food, but I just can’t. First of all, they were completely out of their famous wings, which was the dinner special of the day. This was disappointing. Then, when I ordered a philly cheese steak sandwich the waitress highly recommended, she came back 5 minutes later to let me know they«didn’t have that item today.» Ok. Finally, now starving at this point, I ordered an ancho chili chicken sandwich. The food was ok. The French fries are the thin kind, similar to McDonald’s fries, but crispier. I wasn’t a fan of them at all. Furthermore, my sandwich was pretty mediocre. The chicken breast was grilled well but it had no seasoning. It was severed on a focaccia bun with a slathering of «chili» mayo. The mayo tasted more like tomato paste, and it was very bland. The focaccia role was good but didn’t seem to fit the sandwich well. My boyfriend’s burger was also just ok, nothing special. And he had to ask twice for the jalapeños he had ordered to come on the burger. Our waitress was very sweet but she was literally the only one on staff, causing our meal to take over 2 hours because of the extreme wait time for our drinks, food, order corrections, etc. The beer selection was great and the beer garden is GORGEOUS. I wish I could have loved Grandview, I really do. I’m hoping maybe we just caught them on an off night, I’m not sure. Overall, this would be a great date night spot to just have a few beers, but I would skip the food!

Great smaller place with nice outdoor seating. Service was great, although we were there when there were only a few people at the bar. Drinks were generous liquor-wise and pricing was really decent. Food was good as well, a good selection, had a hard time picking. Had a great time, definitely will be back!

Decided to check out Grandview Tavern and Beer Garden with a friend Friday night for drinks. Neighborhood place with an outdoor patio and nightly food and drink specials. The service wasn’t great but could have been because there were only two people working inside the bar and out on the patio. Ordered drinks and had to find someone to ask when we want to order food. Ordered the hot spinach and artichoke dip topped with bread crumbs and came with tons of hot pita, which was very good. Ok place for a drink but definitely the service has to be worked on.

Amy Lynn was not our server but we asked if she would turn on the tvs in the patio area. I’m not certain what the technical issue was, but the was no way she could get a signal. After trying every option(unplugging and plugging back in, changing the input, changing the channels, etc…), I finally conceded that it was ok and I will enjoy my meal without the tv. But she wouldn’t give up. She was bent on making sure I was able to watch the game and she spent over 45 minutes, between her taking care of customers, trying. She called the owner and had kitchen staff out to try. She even had a customer who is tech savvy give it a go. The end result was no tv and missing the end of the game yet the takeaway is the exemplary customer service, going above and beyond reasonable expectations to make customers experience amazing. I applaud the effort and pride and passion that Grandview instills in their employees and the fact that the meal was great doesn’t hurt. Thank you Grandview and Amy Lynn. Excellent work!

I was here in July for a few drinks on a hot night. The bar inside was basically empty but the beer garden out back was a nice place to kick back, take it easy, and enjoy some beer. They had a nice selection to choose from.

1 shot of Malort 1 «The Radler» cocktail(Steigl grapefruit radler beer with gin) 1 Grandview Tea(tea with vodka, St. Germain, and lemonade) When I say I didn’t feel a thing, I don’t mean that the alcohol numbed me. Drinks were disappointingly weak, but at least we had a spot to hang out while we waited for another bar to open. Meanwhile, I encouraged Courtney C. to try her first shot of Malort. They have Malort here, so there’s that. Thursday’s special is half price flatbreads. The Chilaquiles flatbread was a tad spicy but delicious and definitely worth the $ 5. We ordered this after I realized I had only eaten a protein bar and a few samples of toffee at Terry’s Toffee down the street. Grandview has an OK atmosphere, it’s another other bar or tavern. The service was great too, she was attentive and didn’t seem bothered that we lingered for awhile. It’s a decent neighborhood bar, but I don’t have a reason to come back again.

I went there today in the afternoon. There was just one waitress working and she was complaining all the tine that it is her first day. The service was the worst I ever seen in Chicago. We waited an hour just to order and there werent so many people in the bar. I gave two stars just because the food was fine and I liked the atmosfer in the padio, but I will not go back there, thou I live one minute from this place.

Solid service. Food late. Welcoming crowd. Beats the pants off Twisted Spoke!(where we sat for several minutes with menus).

Bad food, worse service, dirty bathroom flytrap! I was greeted with no hello, just… If you want some water, its over there in the corner. really? I was duped into coming for lunch based on false advertising on their website. The website claims the signature burger, the grandview burger to have«kobe style» beef. Not even close, I got a frozen overcooked chunk of meat. It also claims to have jalepeno bacon, not the case. Just regular bacon. Beef grilled to perfection??? Are you kidding me… The other must try Philly Steak was not even edible. Both pickles were dehydrated for some reason. Wasn’t offered water and when the food came i got a ketchup bottle, thanks. I will never ever go back. I would have sent it back or complained but the service there cannot even afford basic accommodations and courtesy. With so many other great places in the neighborhood for food and drinks, I can’t imagine they will be around much longer.

Cool little bar and they have take out beer! They also have this boozy tea and oh my goodness, it is perfect for hot summer days. This is a fun bar to go to for any major sports games(especially Hawks games!), as they have large TVs, but it never gets overly packed, even though it isn’t a huge bar. As for the take out beer, there’s a lot of BYOB restaurants in the area, so this is a great place to stop by if you’re headed to dinner and forgot to bring some drinks with you.

Wonderful outdoor beer garden with great seating. Two televisions outside perfect for watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Friendly waitstaff and good food and drink specials. Parking in this area is a problem, but the inconvenience is well worth a trip to this lovely spot. On your way out the door, pick up wine and beer to go. Very cool and very convenient!

The daily specials are a great, $ 5 wine on Thursdays are my personal fave! But once you try the grilled calamari it’s a must every single time. The staff is very attentive and friendly and we’ve had great service from multiple servers. Love the beergarden, a hidden little gem!

When a friend suggested Grandview Tavern as a place to go and watch the game, I couldn’t place it until I saw that it was the old Café Fresco. Well good for us as it was just as fun as I remembered to be. This is a great neighborhood bar with good food and drinks, plenty of TV’s, a jukebox and a pretty nice patio out back. A patio you say? Why yes. More of a hidden garden, if you will, with vines covering the walls and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the street. Few seem to know that this is even here as it is one of the great places to sit outside and drink without a huge wait. We had a burger and one of their grilled cheese sandwiches. Very tasty and the sandwich was big enough for a second meal! And for this moscow mule loving gal, they have those copper mugs which just seem to make everything taste better. They also have a great beer list so be sure to check that out as well. Next time you are looking for a great neighborhood place, check out the Grandview Tavern. The food will bring you in and the patio will keep you coming back!

I was excited to go based on the reviews and decided to watch some of the March Madness tournament here. Unfortunately our food was disgusting. We ordered the fresh mozzarella to start but it wasn’t hot and came out with the rest of our food. I had the salmon BLT which sounded delicious but actually tasted like rotten vegetables. It was inedible. The fries are worse than a fast food place. My fiancé ordered the mix and match sliders that he said were ‘ok’. Our drinks were fine but they have a pretty limited beer list for a ‘beer garden’. On top of that, we ordered multiple beers that our waitress would then inform us they didn’t actually have. Overall it was a bad experience, the service wasn’t great, drinks were mediocre and food was poor.

Hard to believe I’ve forgotten to put a review up for Grandview since it’s the place in my neighborhood that I’ve frequented the most in my 10 years in West Town, going back to the Fresco days. Great beer garden, tons of TVs for sports, excellent eclectic beer selections on draft and also a myriad of great unique stuff in tall boy cans, solid food and an outstanding group of bartenders who are super friendly and awesome. Really fun relaxing environment, great for a weekend night out, or just a beer or three after work during the week.

What a great little spot! It’s the dead of winter right now, so I can’t speak to the patio, but the kitchen serves up great bar fare(and at a good price). They also have daily specials that include $ 5 for their flatbread and $ 5 for brisket burgers. Open for lunch, too!

Very chill bar — can’t comment on the food or the patio as we just stopped in for a drink before heading to a friend’s party down the street. The bar staff was super friendly and attentive, and the beer and whiskey selections were great. Crowd seemed like a lively local bunch. Seems like a great neighborhood watering hole that is friendly to «outsiders» passing through.

bravo! thank you for introducing us to this amazing gem. friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and delicious food and drinks. we shared the goat cheese quesada,(6 dollars on special on thursday’s) a chicken caesar wrap, and the homemade burger with sweet potato fries. everything was delicious, and FRESH.(no greasy stale bar food here) we didn’t get a chance to check out the beer garden patio in the back, yet we saw a lot of other fans heading back there. the moscow mule and long island cocktails were delicious, although I wish the long island was a little bit more boozy(yes judge me) we also enjoyed the colorado oskar blues g’night beer cans. The owner Dave visited our table and made sure everything was up to par, which is always much appreciated. This place was just the bomb dot com. What are you waiting for? Get the , stop reading this review, and make this place your next stop of the day. stay classy grandview tavern and beer garden, we will see you next time! :)
