I live in the neighborhood. I’d go here more often because their outside patio but they take FOREVER to serve you. If you have two hours to kill for a hamburger and beer then it’s worth it. It’s really a shame because I like this place but it’s easier to find Bigfoot than a server at this joint.

Been here a few times. It’s your standard sports bars with TVs everywhere. Good vibes and good crowd. The reason we decided to come here(in addition to the huge TV/projector in the main room) was to play shuffleboard. But their pucks are horrible. They have edges and 3 of them don’t slide at all. Can’t play with 5 pucks lol. Didn’t order any food. Some other people in the group did and it was standard bar food — not bad, not good though. Waitress was super slow, but it was busy, so I went to bar. But they were pretty slow too. 4 stars because service was a little slow by both waitress and bar — and I can’t get over the shuffleboard pucks.

Mahoney’s is my go-to neighborhood bar. I live closer to another place, but I prefer to go to Mahoney’s, where I’m always warmly greeted by my favorite bartenders(shout out to Jameson, Cindy and Thomas). The giant Jenga games get increasingly epic as the night goes on, and there’s never a dull night on the stage, whether it’s karaōke or dancing(or both). I’ve proudly polished off many a bottle of Jameson in this bar, cheers to many more!

Been here a few times before with friends, but came out to meet my cousin from Cali here tonight, I live here in Chicago. Started a tab with Tommy the bartender tonight and kept it for a couple hours. Can’t get over how attentive and courteous he was to me. His bar was constantly busy, but every time i came up to get a drink, he kindly acknowledged me, remembered me, promptly served me. The staff here makes me want to come back often. Two thumbs up for sure!!!

I’m sad to say this, but after being a regular and a local at Mahoney’s for the past year and a half I will be taking my business elsewhere.(I suggest grandview tavern, G&O, aberdeen tap) They have suddenly decided to raise all of their prices… without telling anyone until the check comes. and I’m sorry but Mahoney’s is not a $ 9 glass of wine type of bar. Just no. I’ve also overheard the bar tenders talking shit about my friends, paying customers, which is just about the most unprofessional thing you can do. Especially for a bar that is already struggling. Mahoney’s had a lot of potential but it’s going downhill. Business 101: dont be assholes to loyal customers.

Horrible place. Went for st pats and after 10 min noticed they only had 1 waitress who never said a word to us, even i guess a manager but another useless person standing at bar didn’t come up to our table, even decided to clear the empty table next us without saying a word so had to leave… this place sucks.

Every time I walk in this place the servers are more concerned with getting laid by the bartenders and or managers than they are doing their job. They all just sit and stand by the front of the bar and flirt and you have to raise your hand high into the air or yell to get service. Is it a bad sign that every time i walk in the place(which is once a month if I’m lucky) that there are all new employees. If your not hitting on the bartenders your not getting served. How hard is it to ask your customers if they need anything, employees clearly don’t care about the success of the place. Plenty of other places to go near by that deserve your money. Can’t believe this place hasn’t turned into a car wash.

What a bizarro bar. Like, what does it even want to be? There’s a REDICK Hawaiian cantina in the back that is just so niggardly placed. The manager is a lousy waffle, the kind that just sorta walks around with his head up high and his eyes on the tits. They call this an Irish bar? HA! Charles Stewart Parnell would roll in his grave. The orgy of Jameson bottles on the ceiling by the main bar area is A SIN against the state. How dare they even try, just kill yourself Mahoneys. Instantly kill yourself. I hope a fleet of gremlins riggs this place with explosives and damns it to hell, actually, to the Oort Cloud and back.

Servers are awesome… shout out to Alex, Andrea and Brandon. Our rugby team drinks and is sponsored by these guys and they have been nothing but great to us. Karaōke Thursdays are L E G I T!!! Strip beer pong? No problem. Burlesque shows? Forget about it. Bible studies? Sure… this place is great.

What the heck has happened to what used to be one of my favorite places to catch a game and grab a bite to eat? I took a large group with me to watch the Hawks the other night, and I swear they only had 4 people working in the entire place that was packed to the gills. Our server didn’t stand a chance as she had every table in the place. And when our food finally came up(we ordered at 7pm and the food arrived at 9) the food was cold, there were no salad dressings for the entrée salads and the tater tots had clearly been sitting out for awhile. Trying to help and go to the bar to get a drink ourselves was no better as there were only 2 people behind the bar and they couldn’t keep up either. There seemed to be an abundance of bussers but not wait staff. .. crazy bad! It wasn’t like they didn’t know the playoffs were happening and the place was going to be packed. C’mon Mahoney’s! You can do better than this…I’ve seen it! Still plenty of free street parking which is always a plus in my book. But you won’t find me here during any of the playoff games…plenty of other places that can get it right.

The bar/restaurant is okay! Was not impressed at all with the service I received went here during a Blackhawks game, there wasn’t a hostess to greet us then we decided to seat ourselves. We waited for approximately 20 minutes and no waitress came to our table. So decided to go to the bar and order drinks. Then had to go back up to the bar to ask to see menus the person near the bar(waitress) seemed to have an attitude(which is completely uncalled for). We had to order food at the bar! I had to wait for awhile at least 30 min(shouldn’t take that long to make wings and fries)!till I asked the bartender where was the food, cause I was going to cancel the order… I will never come back to place ever again!!! Kinda felt like this bar wanted to shaft me from my money, if I didn’t ask where the food was!

Just a good bar to drink some beers with friends, listen to some good music, play a little jenga, and just have a good time. During Hawks and Bulls the place is packed, but not when we were there. Place was empty and I really enjoyed that. I am a fan of this place, I hate where there are reviews about an empty bar and it’s get a 1 star rating. Maybe you were just not there on their good night. This is your average Chicago Dive bar and I enjoy my random visits here. If you ever are looking for a specific reason to come here, come when they do the HogFight in the summer. Great time and not very crowded, sense a theme here?

What a horrible experience. Just FYI, a can of miller lite will cost you $ 4.50 a piece… If you can finally get your order at the severely understaffed bar. After waiting patiently for 15 mins to get my drink order in at the bar, the bartender brings my shot of whiskey in a tumbler glass, and it was clearly short of a shot. Knowing that 1 shot of JD costs $ 7, I told him it was a light pour, and instead of apologizing for his error, he challenges me the customer by saying: «it is a shot. I’ll pour it into a shot glass and if it’s not, you have to buy the whole bar a round.» Taken aback by this, I say of course not. He still proceeds to pour the whiskey from the tumbler into a shot glass, filling it half way. Then, what upset me the most was the arrogance of his next statement: «See look! It’s a shot!» I told him to send it back and I would not pay for it. I paid my $ 29 for 4 cans of miller lite and 1 previous shot of jack(that another bartender poured appropriately), left a normal tip, and decided to never come to this poorly run & managed establishment again

Alright, mahoneys is a weird place. I am not totally sure what they are going for with the décor, but as a neighbor of the bar I always feel welcome here and the staff(especially Andrea) make sure that I’m having a good time. I started coming here at the beginning of football season and Andrea did not give up until both my girlfriends Game and my game were on. I appreciated that she worked so hard for us, and it’s kept us coming back, even after football season has passed. With that being said mahoneys is not a place to go for an exceptional craft cocktail, but they have cold beer, a lot of TVs and the staff(especially Andrea) treat you like you actually matter.

I held my husband’s 30th birthday party here in their back room. From start to finish, Kelly, the events planner, and her team were incredibly helpful at organizing the party with me. We chose appetizers(which were set up prior to my guests arriving) and a wristband special(free wristbands, $ 1 of all drinks). When I got there, my parents and my husband’s parents were running late getting to Mahoney’s from the suburbs. Kelly and another girl working there did not hesitate to help me set up the entire room – putting up banners, decorations, etc. They were so nice. I brought my own custom cups, and the bartender was great about using them to serve the guests. When it came time for the cake, Kelly brought the cake and cupcakes out with a cake cutter. She put the cupcakes on the cutest little footed platter. The only reason I’m giving four stars is because the room temperature was out of control. It was freeeeeeezing without the heat on and then nine million degrees with the heat on. :( Thanks, Mahoney’s, for a great 30th birthday party experience!

Mahoney’s used to be OK about 6 months ago — friendly staff, pretty good food, fun trivia that myself and friends used to frequently go to, and Blackhawks hockey(an official Blackhawks bar). With this in mind, I decided to meet up with some people for tonight’s Hawks game. What ensued was the quickest decline of a bar due to new management that I have ever witnessed. 1) A new, smaller menu without the two best things on the old menu — Irish Poutine and Texas Potatoes. Now, everything is much more generic, run-of-the-mill bar food. 2) The Jameson bottles lining the interior of the bar? Gone. So much for personality… 3) When the Hawks game came on, it was only on about 4 of the 10 or so TVs. Fine, there was one close enough for me to watch. However, there was music still playing, which would normally be fine, but as an «Official» Blackhawks bar, this was not OK. So I politely asked our server if they were going to turn on the sound. She told me she would check … but alas, I never received an update and the music kept playing… Needless to say, it was time to find a new destination. I don’t know what the hell the new management is thinking, but they better get their crap together and fast — there were maybe only 10 people in the entire bar, where as Twisted Spoke and Aberdeen Tap(where we later ended up) were all crowded. Congratulations Mahoney’s — you have officially lost a bunch of formerly loyal customers due to being worse now than six months ago in pretty much every single way… isn’t the idea to improve?

This is definitely not my type of place but I would say if you are looking for a fun place to feel like a kid playing traditional boad games this is the spot. With the DJ playing oldies but goodies in teh background that you can belt out while playing Jenga it is a lot of fun. Great for groups but word to the wise don’t stay here sober because you will be the only one! If you can’t beat them join them is how your attitude should be when you come here! And just have a great time!
