The best god damn shrimp here, it’s well priced also. They are pretty quick and polite, you order them shrimp, you play one game on The Simpsons pinball and your order is ready.

Oh I am so spoiled by Redhots, the shrimp here at Grand is big but you can’t really taste it with the gummy overly thick breading that crushed my craving for shrimp. If you want other fish, this an okay spot. Fries OK to yuck.

This is a great place to grab fresh shrimp if you love lots of breading. If not, you may be disappointed.

I was recommended to try the place by a food group on facebook & I was disappointed. The service was fast & friendly, but the food was not good. We ordered regular sized shrimp 2lbs. I gave them away!!! The food was fresh & hot, but lacked flavor. Needless to say I won’t be returning.

I always order a pound of jumbo every time I’m there. There mild sauce is my favorite! One of the best shrimp houses I’ve been to.

I ordered 1.5 lbs of jumbo shrimp @ $ 14 per lb. the hot sauce taste like the one at goose island and the shrimp were fantastic. Good find near my home as we just moved out this way. I am definitely going back whenever I get a taste for shrimp.

Sometimes I crave fried oysters, jumbo shrimp and clam strips and playing Ms. PAC-MAN: i.e. Sometimes I crave this place! Don’t expect much in ambiance; it’s all to go and all fried but it’s good. They do accept credit cards but bring your id, and don’t forget your quarters to play some old school video games while you wait.

Very bad service on the phone about a month ago. African american man with a very bad attitude. Called back to cancel my order. Shame because I really like this place normally. Dont need someone with a crappy attitude handling my food

Personally I think Grand Ave Shrimp and Goose Island Shrimp are the best take out shrimp joints in the city. It’s the same recipe. I always get a small order of fried clams and a pound of jumbo. Always always always pay the extra and get the special shrimp sauce. They call it the Grand Sauce here. It’s just that much better. Large soda pop selection and sometimes they have these great butter cookies. Yum. Be prepared. The breading is thick. Some save too thick. But that is the deal with this place. Their signature. Service is typical of a take out place so exercise some patience. It adds to the flavor. Park on the side. Not on Grand Ave.

This is where I buy my 1 pound of regular shrimp! Great mom and pop shop. Order ready in 10−15min if you call ahead. Love it.

Classic takeout style fried seafood joint here. It’s the only seafood place where I refuse to call ahead, reason being they have Ms. Pacman and Galaga arcades for a quarter as well as classic Simpsons pinball for 50 cents. So I look forward to the nostalgic entertainment while waiting for my usual jumbo shrimp and fried scallops. The jumbo shrimp is very good quality, the closest i’ve found to my fav place Goose Island. And the Scallops are good as well, and reasonably priced at $ 10 a pound. And also hush puppies, an order of 10 for a $ 1.25…awesomeness. So when I wanna get a competitive game of Ms. Pacman on and satisfy my seafood itch, this little gem definitely fits the bill.

I went here over a year ago for the first time with my Father who ironically like the last poster is Puerto Rican. He was in from PR and we were just bumbing around visiting family and friends. As we were driving around he said let’s go to this great Shrimp house, so I obliged him. We got two pounds of shrimp, some hot sauce and two sodas. We went and sat in Riis park and ate the shrimp. One word: Excellent I had never had shrimp battered the way they did it, I even now have a hard time explaining it. It is not a typical batter, it is more like a true«breading». The shrimp themselves were very large and cooked well. I now will stop and get food for clients and friends here to show them one of the little hidden gems not everyone knows about. The place is small, but everyone is very nice and everything is consistent.

I finally decided to try this spot after driving by several times, but I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon. The food is kind of pricey for what you get and the flavor was lacking. I had the catfish nuggets and when I went, they weren’t serving certain menu items because of Lent, so that was a hassle. My friend had ¼lb of fried shrimp and it was just ok. There was a LOT of batter on them and they had no distinct taste, in fact they were very bland. I really wanted to like this place, as I am a fan of JJ Fish and other establishments that pride themselves on their fried food, but this place just didn’t cut it for me. For around $ 10 spent, my friend and I were both still hungry and left unsatisfied. Perhaps I will give them another shot, but no time soon.

A pound of regular shrimp is $ 10.98(with tax)…get extra sauce(.22¢) because you will need it(the shrimp are not itty bitty). I go here at least 2 times a week. Best in chicago! Make sure you try the house sauce!

I’m a huge shrimp fan and grew up in New Orleans, so I tried the shrimp from this place. I was eager, but was quickly let down. Don’t get me wrong, the shrimp are indeed big but there’s also a thick batter covering them. I prefer my shrimp lightly breaded instead of eating so much batter. If that’s ok with you, then you’ll be happy. I’ll continue my search for good shrimp in Chicago.

I picked up a large order of food here after my dad(who used to fish in Puerto Rico when he was a boy) kept insisting on how good it was. This place is very good! First off, they have a pretty good selection on the menu. My order included jumbo shrimp, cod, catfish, oysters, potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw and fries. After I ordered everything and was waiting around, I wish I would have tried other things like buffalo jumbo shrimp and crab cakes… etc. But I will have to try it next time. All the sides were awesome! They are individual sized but if you get a bunch of everything, you can share them. The catfish was a bit salty, but I had never eaten catfish, so I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that. The cod was good! The jumbo shrimp I liked and could only eat 3… oof! I didn’t try the oysters… Overall, it was great. The shrimp was a bit tough, I guess… but I liked it just fine. All in all, I split all the food with my mom, dad and roommate. We all were stuffed and there was food left over. All that for $ 26??? Where else could you have seafood for that price? It’s great. There is diagonal parking right out front. They take cash and credit cards with proper ID. The people were nice. Small place, etc. etc. Closed on Mondays. I had looked online before and some site said Sundays… Can’t believe everything you read :)
