I got a slice of pizza and one of their«infused» Italian ices(meaning it had alcohol in it). I wasnt expecting much when I came here but left pleasantly buzzed!

Freddie’s, come on. I love y’all but my pizza is cold and super late for the third time when ordering delivery. Not to mention the food when dining in the last couple visits was not up to par. I’ll be sad if this is the norm from now on… used to be one of my favorite places, but I haven’t been even close to pleased lately.

This place has just about every specialty Italian Chicago specialty and they do it well. From the beef sandwich to the breaded steak, it’s hard to make a choice every single time I come here. Save some time, order ahead.

There hasn’t been one thing I’ve gotten from here that I haven’t liked. Their Italian ice is the best in all of Chicago, cantaloupe is my favorite. Their pizza is tasty. Their Italian beef is delicious. Their pizza bread =

Freddies is right around the block from my house. I remember going as a kid for their Italian ice which is definitely one of the best in Chicago. However apart from the Italian ice, I never found myself craving any of their food. I went back after probably 10+ years since I last ate something there just to give it a try again. My friend and I went for a $ 10 medium pizza with 1 topping(I went with sausage) and a large fries. The pizza was a great deal and it really filled me up. It was a pretty good pizza, too. The fries were mediocre. I think I would come back if I were really hungry and just wanted to grab a great deal with the pizza. With Ricobene’s close by, I feel like I will always be gravitated towards there. But, if you want Italian ice definitely come here. Tips: Restaurant parking in the alley next to the restaurant on Union Ave. and also free parking around the area(permit parking when there’s a Sox game going on).

I hate to say it, but Freddie’s has gotten bad over the years. Maybe most of their staff left when the place caught on fire? Not sure, but it’s definitely not as good as it used to be. Save yourself the trip and go to Ricobene’s if you’re looking for a decent sandwich.

Been eating from Freddies pretty much my entire life. It’s the most popular neighborhood restaurant. Their pizza is something you can’t beat for the price. & their slices are always nicely sized! Overall it’s a pretty nice place, prices are good, food is good.

This place is very good. I live out of state and every time I’m around that area I always stop in and get food from here. Let me start off first by saying that the employees that work here are nice. I haven’t had any issues with any orders that I have placed. This pace is also well kept and not a dirty place either which obviously is a big plus. I usually have their burgers or deep dish pizza when I eat here. Thick dough and good amount of cheese. Best thing about the pizza is their huge chunks of sausage. The best thing of all that they here is the Italian ice. All I can say is wow. Hands down the best Italian ice I’ve had. They have multiple flavored to choose from with the strawberry and watermelon being my favorites. In the strawberry it actually has real strawberries in it so it makes it nice an sweet. Also they load the cup up and top it off with an extra scoop. So you definitely get your money’s worth.

Just an update. Got an Italian beef, dipped, sweet and hot peppers and a chocolate shake. Waited a little longer than usual for my food to be ready. Ate the beef, it was like heaven. Drank the milkshake, also like heaven. This place is dangerously located on my walk to the grocery store, drug store, and like everywhere I have to walk in the neighborhood. They are great.

Been eating here for years and i was so disappointed… did they change the Italian beef recipe? The meat was thinly sliced not like I remember it and the meat was so full of fat I couldn’t enjoy it! The Au jus was blah… the giarniera peppers had no kick… really, what happened Fabulous Freddies? It was a NO for me and hubby! The special slice of eggplant and meat ball pizza… was there any eggplant also very salty! Not happy on this trip! The two stars are for the creamy rich mozzarella cheese on the beef

Oh my lord! The turkey burgers are cooked really bad. The quality of the meat is worse than McDonald’s. The turkey burger tasted like charcoal. The meat looks like a old wrinkled hand that’s been microwaved ten times. The only thing that saves Freddie’s is their Italian ice. This is sad to say since I live in Bridgeport.

Came here with my boyfriend because word on the street is they have a better breaded steak sandwich than Ricobenes. We ordered the«big» sandwich, which we thought would be more than enough to share. However, the sandwich wasn’t big all. What does the regular size look like i Wonder? At $ 11.20 with hot peppers and mozzerella, we were disappointed. The only thing I would go back for is the Italian ice. We got a small mango flavored ice and for $ 2.75 with tax, it was a steal. They really filled that cup up! Not to mention you could really taste the mango, it was really refreshing. Definitely could tell it was house made. Overall, in my opinion Ricobenes holds the title for Chicago’s best breaded steak sandwich, hands down. Sad I missed out on it by giving Freddie’s a try.

I just ordered delivery from there and was quite impressed with the food quantity as well as quality. Delivery time took almost 45 minutes but it was worth it as I was unable to go to their location. I ordered the turkey burger and a pizza slice and made everybody jealous as soon as they saw it!

Their $ 10 pizza is delicious. They also have a great chopped salad. We recently tried their stuffed pizza, they made a mistake and had to redo our pizza. It’s a reasonable price though, I believe we paid $ 14. I suggest calling in your order because the wait time can be long.

Price increase on 10″ subs. They are in the process of increasing prices. So call ahead. Food is still good. How’s the thin crust pizza? Any opinions regarding thin crust here?

I’ve ordered from Freddies several times over the years. The food used to be run of the mill, but recently it has taken a turn for the worse. The meat on the Italian beef was tough and the juice had no flavor. Wings(which used to be quite good) were overly salted. French fries were undercooked. In my last 3 orders, I literally have not had one item there that came out as expected. Sorry Freddies, you’ve lost me forever.

Just picked up a Big Breaded Steak with red sauce, mozzarella and sweet peppers to go. When I got back to the office… no mozzarella. That kind a messes it up. I’m too far away to go back so I ate it and enjoyed it but I was really looking forward to the cheese too. I’ll be back because I like a good Breaded Steak but hopefully they will have improved their quality control by then.

EXCELLENT!!! Today was my 1st time trying Freddie’s and I must say I will definitely be back! I tried the breaded steak with mozzarella cheese with a slice of chicken, sun dried tomato and spinach pizza with an order of fries. My mom had a deep dish slice of sausage & cheese with a double cheese burger and my aunt had a grilled chicken on wheat with cheese fries and onion rings. We all swapped so that we could taste a variety and now I’m stuffed!!! It was very crowded but they managed the lines well. I would’ve given 5 stars but so many people ordered after me got there food 1st while I looked at my food sit on the counter top. Overall great food!!!

OBSESSED with their lemon Italian ice. Seriously my favorite thing to eat. Sometimes the consistency is a little off(too watery) but most of the time it’s like this perfect icy texture. I’m such a huge fan. I don’t really like the other flavors as much only because I think they’re a bit too sweet. The lemon has a nice tartness that cuts through the sugar. Besides their Italian ice, I really haven’t had much else on the menu besides their Italian beef and fries, which are also fantastic! I guess every time I go to Freddie’s I just get the same thing because I like it so much. They’re both nice hefty portions. I usually get a regular size Italian beef and a half size of fries, and that’s PLENTY. Love their portions here, it’s great. Two thumbs up!

Not too much to say. I was hungry. It was 3 pm on a Monday afternoon. I wanted a slice of pizza. Make that starving, and make that two slices. Thin crust sausage or thin crust cheese? Or the special of the day, the stuffed sausage and pepperoni? I told the polite, efficient, counter guy that I’d like one of each of the thin crust. Before I could say, «Aren’t there any child labor laws in Bridgeport, because this kid seems like he’s a tween!» my slices were ready. And the glass for water that they gave me was full-size, not one of those«penalty cups» some places stick you with for not buying into the high-fructose corn syrup industrial complex. The pizza was hot, fresh and perfectly crisp, even straight out of the little rotating holding bin. The sausage was tasty, with no trace of extra grease on the cheese. The sauce was delicious, with the perfect amount of tang(though I do recommend some dried red pepper flakes). This pizza ain’t gourmet, and they don’t tell you the name of the farm where they got the pork and cheese, or even where the wheat was separated from the chaff. That must be one of the reasons that the sausage slice was 3 bucks; the cheese was less. When I first saw the place, my mind thought«Fast Freddies» and not«Fabulous Freddies.» I don’t know what makes Freddie«fabulous,» but the place sure is fast, friendly and fairly priced.
