Cannon’s Jerk & Juice Bar

I don’t have anything Good to say unfortunately. Placed an order online because of the jerk chicken salad pictured here on Unilocal.Requested ALL white meat on salad in the instructions box and received literally ALL scraps tossed about with bones (salad was not eaten). Perhaps this occurred because of the late evening order. Very disappointed, but I’ll wish them well.

This was definitely a DO NOT REPEAT experience. The food took two hours. The woman that answered the telephone stated that Grubhub sent the fax late (even though they confirmed on time). After being late, the food was cold but not just that the plantains had been sitting in someones fridge for an unknown amount of time. They were little plantain shaped bricks. The callalloo was missing. The pink ting was regular ting. To top it off the food had been thrown in the bag so that all of it was situated in the side dish portions of the container mashed together as if someone had been playing softball with it. Sloppy juice all over everything including the sodas and bread. To add insult to injury the food was not even good enough to classify as a joke. Steamed cabbage? The only seasoning there — water. Beans and rice? Incredible amount of sugar and again seasoning– water, maybe a bit of salt. None of those wonderful herbs you see in Caribbean foods at the other restaurants, just plain bland. The shrimp I ordered? Thought I was getting jerk but it turns out I was getting jerky; another item that had been way overcooked and stored in a fridge somewhere. Then someone had the sweet and sour sauce from a low end Chinese place and dumped it on. This place was a super hot mess. I hate throwing food away but I tried to give one of the plantains to my dog and he chewed it like a chew toy. Did I mention the drivers attitude? No? Well I think you can guess.

I purchased a Groupon because it was close to home and I’d never tried this spot. The first time I came here, they didn’t have the jerk wrap available, which was one of the items posted on the window as a specialty. I also peeked over at someone’s jerk tacos and they most certainly are tiny… Not at all like a «Jerk Taco Man» type of taco. They also didn’t have plantains that day. I left that day without purchasing anything.
I came back about a month later and they seemed to be more prepared. As a test I asked if they had the jerk wrap and she said yes. I ended up ordering a ¼ white. The chicken was good but I didn’t like the sides. Cabbage was too liquidy and Mac and cheese was dry. Yams were good though. I have another Groupon to use so I guess I’ll be trying it again.

I would have given 5 whole stars but i went for salmon salad and they didn’t have it, was told to try back later. I ended up trying the jerk chicken salad and OMG… it was delicious… fresh ingredients right amount of avocado and onions, tomatoes yum… i did add my own cucumbers when i got home. I will come back for the salmon salad: overall very good flavor and good heat.
The lady at the counter was nice very strong accent… she wasn’t happy when i took pics of menu board though lol she said no need to take pics I’m giving you a menu haha

I’ve been here two times and I’m not impressed by each time I visited. The last time i went I purchased the Jerk Tacos and they were not good at all. Firstly they were very small, cold, there was little to no chicken and there was more Jerk sauce than chicken. When I came the first time the food was better but not great. There is nothing spectacular about this place there are better jerk spots in the area.
