I have been here a lot and love their shakes, i think they are the best. Today unfortunately I went to get one and asked for a Half Vanilla, Half Chocolate shake. l like always The girl then sarcastically asked me to repeat my order, and when I did she said they don’t do that. I said they do I have had about 10, she replied they have never done that, again I had to ask her to just ask them to make it, they know how to do it because i live just done the street and have had about 10 of these shakes. Finally she did and gave me a number, then I seen her go back and talk to the guy who was making me the shake, and suprise suprise it tastes terrible, they put a tone of the chocolate and barley mixed it. It went from my favorite shake to a shake I had to trash.

I had heard good things about Burger Boss and was looking forward to a gluten free burger and fries. Unfortunately the employee I spoke with said that the gluten free items are prepared on the same surface as the non-gluten free items, making it unsafe for Celiacs.

what is the big attraction here? This is nothing but a ”steak and shake” in a cool area, It was just so. meh. basic burger, add a few toppings, so what? Put it next to 5 guys or DMK, and its the same — uneventful! Take pass in this place, trying to cash in on the recent,(and fading fast) burger craze.

Went in tonight and the staff was really great but the Manager was being completely rude to them and to guests. I hope he gets his act together soon before he loses loyal customers and staff

I love this place. I live in the area and frequent it every couple of weeks. They offer a delicious burger at a decent price. Greasy, cheesy, with an awesome bun. The patties are really thin so I always do a double but my girlfriend gets Full from a single. The shakes are killer and the fries are good(add a sauce to make them much better). As other reviews mention, they do charge for dumb things like alternate buns, sauces, etc. But that’s the worst thing about the joint. Definitely my go to burger spot.

A good spot for a greasy, quick dinner. Sometimes you just need a burger and this place does the trick. Nothing too pricey and they had a bunch of televisions around. Plus, once you are done you can walk down the way to Jenni’s for some desert.

one of the better fast food vegi burgers… i ordered the the black bean burger which is 1 of 2 vegi offerings(the other is portobello) — this is double the vegetarian choices compared to other burger joints! my burger was good not great but keep in mind bb is not my favorite way to go when it comes to vegi burgers. the grilled onions caramelly goodness made it a better burger. the pretzel bun(which cost an extra 50 cents for some stupid reason) made it even better. WHY are they charging for buns outside the brioche(other up-charged bun options are the pretzel or whole wheat). after my husband saw them prepping my black bean on pretzel, he decided he wanted to try the pretzel bun. since we already swiped our credit card, we asked if we could just pay the«difference»(i.e. pocket change). «no, you can’t do that.» um… ok… in addition to the stupidity, the fries also annoyed us — great dipping sauces but soggy sweet potato fries.

I had to see what the hype was all about. 1st off good luck on finding parking. Fries were meh, super skinny and not very salty. Malt vinegar was their saving grace which I was happy to see. They do give you a ton of fries though :) Chocolate shake=the bomb!!! Super thick and tastes like the inside of a 3 Musketeers bar-Sweet!!! However, I was a little disheartened by the size of my burger for the price. Pretzel bun was pretty tasty and they do have a lot of free toppings to choose from, but the size of that patty was sad. Not the Boss. I’ll def be back for a shake when I’m craving one.

I’m not thrilled about the parking situation, but if you are in the area and are hankering for a decent burger at reasonable prices, this is a good choice. I had the double Big Tex. For 7 bucks, it was pretty solid. 1⁄3 beef, BBQ sauce, bacon, Pepper Jack cheese, and grilled onions on a brioche made for tasty eats on a Saturday night. The interior is clean and comfy, with TVs for watching the game while you eat.

The first time I got this I got the AM burger or whatever it’s called, it was good but a single didn’t seem like enough meet. Second time I got a normal cheeseburger with pretty typical toppings, plus boss sauce. I feel like I just spent $ 15(double cheeseburger, sweet potato fries, drink) for McDonalds… I got mustard on my burger and there is noooo way any burger should contain THAT much mustard. I couldn’t taste anything except mustard. After a few bites I took it apart and found that BOTH sides of the bun were slaaaathered in a shit ton of mustard. What the fuck guys?! It was also ridiculously greasy, like I need a shower now. I like their fries and love the cheese sauce but I feel like I just wasted my money and health on a really not good greasy as hell cheeseburger, probably won’t be coming back.

This was a random choice for dinner last night and now I’m obsessed. Get the boss sauce and the pretzel bun. Strawberry shake is bomb as well.

Similar to Smashburger or Epic Burger, but not as inventive and a bit overpriced(Smashburger gets my vote among the three). The BBQ sauce on the Big Tex was too sweet and really didn’t help the sandwich, which didn’t have a lot of flavor otherwise. Sweet potato fries were GREAT! Highly recommend those! The coconut shake was yummy, but chocolate shake was very BLAH and too thick to drink.

I am SO happy Burger Boss has moved into the neighborhood! I’ve been in several times and I’m surprised that there are a few so-so reviews here! Burger Boss’ burgers aren’t the giant patties that you see at some other burger joints around town but, in my opinion, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad burger-just different! Their buttery bun and fresh toppings stand out and I’ve never had a soggy or greasy burger here! I’ve tried both the regular and sweet potato fries-both good but the regular fries are my go-to. Freshly cut, thin, and crispy-just the way I like ‘em! Love Burger Boss and definitely recommend giving them a try!

Much as I was hoping to discover an awesome new burger spot, I don’t think Burger Boss fits the bill. It’s casual. You show up and stand in line. You can buy pre-conceived burgers or crank out one of your own creation. I went with the Big Tex(pepper jack, bacon, BBQ sauce) and added raw onions and a pretzel bun. The burger itself was pretty good, but the bacon wasn’t crisp. The whole thing was a fairly soggy affair. The fries were nothing special. And they were the thin-cut variety — the kind that are cold about five minutes after hitting your plate. I prefer a thicker fry. A big win was the chocolate shake. It was thick, but tasted whipped, like the texture of the insides of a Three Musketeers bar. Bonus points for that. As I ate here, I thought it had the vibe of Five Guys, but not nearly the flavor. If you’re looking for a relatively fast burger fix, Burger Boss is a decent option, but there are far better burgers all over the city.

I have been here three times since they opened and I must say I’m a little disappointed in the quality of the burger given the $ 5 – 8 price tag for a hamburger. I keep hoping that somehow it will improve, but I continue to be let down. They do have a good selection of toppings, but the patties are very thin and a bit too greasy for my taste. I mean a double burger is only 1⁄3 of a pound(and that’s pre-cooked weight, I’m sure a lot of grease cooks off on the grill). The fries are OK but nothing special. They are also thinner than I like. I had a strawberry shake one time and it was OK, but again nothing special. The up side of my visits has been that the staff is always friendly and the food comes out very quickly. The restaurant is clean although usually empty which I’m sure helps keep things tidy. I agree with a previous reviewer that this place would do much better if they upgraded to a better patty, I’m sure they could afford it given the hefty price tag on these burgers. I bought 2 half pound burgers(3 patties), an order of regular fries, and an order of sweet potato fries and the bill was $ 22, that’s without a drink! I’m not averse to paying $ 10 for a great burger and fries, but this is not a great burger. Sorry Burger Boss, but you need to step up your game if you expect to be the boss someday!

One double patty Southport Boss and I’m perfectly full, but still wanting more! I was impressed with every aspect of this burger. I love the bit of spice in the boss sauce and the nice helping of pickles! Even after a 10 min walk home in 10 degree weather the burger was still delicious!

Yes, I’m always a little suspicious of reviews by people who haven’t done all that many reviews. Unilocal has been around for a long time — where have those people been? And I know there are people paid for reviews. SMH That said, I liked this place. I had a hankering for a burger so walked over here. I had a bleu burger and fries. The bun was good as were the toppings. I probably should have ordered two patties since the patties are pretty thin and can get overwhelmed by the toppings. I’ll get two patties next time. Fries were fine. Plentiful, hot, thin but still potatoey enough. I added a packet of salt too. Didn’t get a shake but several around me did. Pretty steady business for mid-Sunday afternoon. People with kids and people without. Wish the kid across from me would have made a better effort to cover his mouth when he coughed but that’s not the restaurant’s fault. That’s on mom. Like that they have tvs. Caught part of a playoff game. This isn’t on the list of a must do when friends come to town but perfectly decent for a burger and fries.

I love going to custom burger places and burger boss is one of my favorites in the area. Much better than meatheads and smashburger. Fries are fantastic. Service is phenomenal. Boss sauce is very good. Different than others signature sauces. Little more sweet. This is my new favorite quick burger shop.

Are these reviews written by the owners? It’s pretty obvious that they are paying 3rd parties to write the 5 star reviews when the reviewers all have less than 6 reviews and no pictures. These burgers are pretty bland. They really need to do something better. I think the menu needs to be expanded also. I don’t like to see any business shut down, but I’d be surprised if this place is open a year from now. The management seems friendly though.
