After both the all you can eat sushi and Thai places by me closed, I was pretty sad… then I realized I’d been just sitting on a gem mine in this neighborhood… This place is more affordable and MUCH better than BOTH those places were. Solid sushi, nothing mind blowing but decently priced, fresh, and tasty. Potstickers are like little deep fried pieces of heaven. The Pad Thai is LEGIT… really, really good. One of if not the best I’ve had in the city. I came here for lunch and I really hope it ends up being as good at 2 am one of these days… This place is probably going to change my life.

If you’re drunk and don’t want pizza, come here. Other then that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I got the pad Thai with chicken. They were quick with giving me my order, but it definitely came with a price… The chicken was dry and rubbery and some noodles were still hard…

Big pad Thai is super tasty! The big noodles soak up all the flavor :) will be back to try other dishes!

Phenomenal! I just went here for the first time and went with my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day. I had the chicken pineapple curry and it was seriously the best thai food I have ever had. Then they brought out red bean ice cream for Valentine’s Day which was SO good. My boyfriend loved his sushi. Will be returning very soon!

Favorite Thai & sushi place in Chicago! Daytime it is Asian Ave. at night it becomes Late Night Thai. It is open until 4am! Beats anything you can get at that hour. It is a regular stop after a late night flight back to home.

My wife and I ate at Asian Avenue a couple of weeks ago when one of our local favorites closed. We have lived in the neighborhood for years and walked passed Asian Avenue hundreds of times. The food was bland and my dish(mongolian beef) was tepid rather than hot. Additionally, the restaurant itself was not particularly clean and the lights are very bright creating an interrogation feel to the dining experience. The only reason why I did not give one star is that prices are low and it is BYOB. You get what you pay for. So, if you are looking for an inexpensive, but bland dinner then Asian Avenue fits your criteria.

Mehhh… overpriced and bland. They put potato as a filler; as far as I know, potato is not an ingredient to Thai dishes. They get traffic because they’re open really late, but don’t waste your gas nor tummy space here.

We jumped out of a cab at Lincoln and Belmont. We were early for a party at Fizz. We were also starving. I saw the BYOB sign in the window here so we gave it a go. I quick stop at the beer place a few doors down and we were in. We got two sushi rolls for an appetizer and then we ordered Thai. I can’t remember what my dude got but I got panang beef with crispy noodles. The sushi was good. It was fresh and delicious. Average priced sushi. The panang beef. YUM. The best panang beef I’ve ever had! The noodles were so crispy and the panang sauce was fantastic. The service was spot on. Our food came out quickly and the waitress was super attentive. I’ll go back for the Thai and possibly skip the sushi’

They have a great selection of vegetarian sushi. On my recent trip, I ordered the Sweet Potato roll and the Asparagus roll — both were fantastic. If you come during lunch, they have great lunch specials(like 2 rolls and miso soup fro $ 7). I should mention that the restaurant is rarely crowded and the atmosphere is simple and low-key. If you want a place that is fancy and hip, this may not be the place for you.

I love there orange chicken! Supper delicious and crunchy! I would recommend getting that if you want a nice lunch! Also there crab ran goons are so good. I do have to say they lack a little on there sushi but I would still go back. I like how done in it’s byob. The service is always really good too. They also sell bubble tea which I like, the melon one is my favorite. I would definitely recommend going if you haven’t already!

Meh is about right. The maki rolls were colorful, but the preparation was shoddy. The seaweed wasn’t wrapped from a professional and fell apart easily. The rolls were cut very large, which also makes the rolls fall apart. Fried appetizers were delicious, so that became the saving grace. Ample amount of wasabi and ginger, too. A few of the roll combinations were overpowered with a heavy dollop of cream cheese. For as expensive as the rolls are, they could have been made with more care.

The food and sushi was great, but the bubble tea was pretty disappointing. The green tea one doesn’t taste much like green tea. Also the honeydew flavor tasted like pure syrup. The tapioca was undercooked and hard to chew. Other than that, food was delicious. Another downside– they don’t let you have split checks. Which is odd and hard when you’re with a big group of people.

I’ve only been here for sushi, so please don’t expect me to review the thai food. The first time I went here, I felt like the sushi was fresh and the portions were large. The flavor was forgettable, but I bought a large order to go, and took it to an outdoor concert. I wasn’t the only one eating it, so I didn’t really get immersed in the flavors. I was impressed enough to return, however. I went back for dinner one evening, and I felt like I had remembered the quality of the meal differently. Maybe they give more care to take out orders? Maybe it was a bad night? I was not impressed with the meal, but I wasn’t mad about it either. The service was good; they were intense about us having full water glasses, which is always a plus for me. I don’t have a lot of specifics or strong feelings about Asian Avenue. It seems like it’s like basically every other Japanese/Thai fusion restaurant. Passable, but not that exciting. It’ll do, in a pinch, it’ll do.

Came here for sushi. Saw it on the way to House of Noodles and Sushi and saw their lunch specials were until 3pm instead of 2:30pm. I decided to stop here instead. I really wanted the buffet style sushi at the other place. But I also wanted to try a new place for sushi. I got the salmon skin maki, spicy salmon maki, and i think the california roll. I don’t quite remember because it was few weeks ago. Overall, pretty good. When we walked in there, it was pretty hot and stuffy. My friend said something under his breath about them not having the a/c on, and maybe they heard it, because it started to cool down after a while. Went around 2:30ish-3ish. Service was okay. It was not busy at all in there. Which is always a plus for me because I am not a big fan of crowds and stuffiness. I don’t know if it was the best sushi, but it sure was good and I’d go there again. I got 3 rolls for around $ 11. Not bad!

Typical sushi and Thai joint. BYOB is a plus. Stopped in on the way elsewhere. Service was slow and food made its way to the table in the same fashion. We ordered a few entrees for sharing and the appetizer platter. Among the tastes of the table, nothing stuck out. It was food and it did it’s job of squashing our appetite. Saw sushi ordered by other diners but wasn’t compelled to try. An okay experience.

My first time ordering from this place tonight. The driver came 25 minutes after the quoted time and, surprise; the food was cold. The rangoon was rubbery and largely inedible. The Thai basil fried rice was very light on the basil and beef. The rama chicken seemed to have been prepared correctly — because how can you mess that up — it was just cold. One other disappointing thing was that the order didn’t come with any of the standard garnishes like hot sauce or lime wedges. Not really a huge deal as I already have Sriracha but as I’m woefully out of limes I’d have appreciated those. I’d have appreciated not having to nuke my food, too. Not ordering from this place again.

Just ordered some pad thai takeout after my friend’s rave review. I have to agree that is some of the tastiest pad thai I have ever had! The place is cute and clean, and the employees were very friendly. I highly recommend it, and I can’t wait to go back and try more.

Since moving closer to Asian Avenue, and more importantly within their delivery range, I have become a pretty regular customer. There have been many Saturday nights where my boyfriend and I had big plans to get dolled up and go to some trendy restaurant for a date. Then it strikes about 8:00 p.m. and I’m still in sweat pants and all we want to do is stay on the couch. Our next step after realizing we are not going anywhere is to order from Asian Avenue. Our typical order includes Pad See Ewe, Panang Curry, Crab rangoon, Shumai, and some form of sushi roll or a couple orders of nigiri. I mean if you are going to go, go big. We are always pleasantly surprised at how good everything is and it always arrives in 40 minutes or less. An added bonus is that we also have lunch for the next day, pretty sweet deal.

A decent alternative to the infamous House of Sushi & Noodles, which is quite literally a maki’s throw from this spot… however, I am irked out by «all-you-can-eat» sushi buffet, no matter the recommendations, rulles, etc. I just can’t fathom it… I just can’t! Asian Avenue is nicely decorated. Great spot for a quick THAI lunch, I’d assume. THAI. Probably not sushi, but oh well… that’s what we wanted… so… Sushi: average, but a bit overpriced for the quality and composition. We had the Philly(the salmon was not smoked?! HELLO, that’s the whole point!), Unagi(drenched in sauce), and the spicy salmon(winner of the bunch). Service was a bit aloof, and when I spilled my hot tea, and asked for napkins they said they’d get it(table next to floor). However, when we left it was still sitting there… all wet and gross. Hmmm, we were the only peeps in the restaurant, so c’mon…or I’ll just do it! At around $ 20 per person with tip, I guess we should’ve just gone to HoS&N. We could’ve had all we wanted… and I could’ve gotten off my high sushi horse and given it a whirl :) Next time!
