Just like my review for the Homewood location: Despite its appearance, Pearson’s is an old fashioned gem out here in the suburbs. Sadly most people have forgotten about this part of the Heights and head to Orland. The cakes and cookies are fantastic, and I always make sure to get their paczki this time of year!

I will not buy my birthday cakes anywhere else. Their atomic cake with butter cream frosting is the bomb and always beautifully decorated — unlike the shop. The interior needs updating desperately but that is not a distraction from the quality of the baked goods. I was there this morning and chatted with the lady in line next to me — who drove all the way from Naperville for their atomic cake. The best!

Pearson’s Bakery had near mythical status in my mind. As a kid, it was THE bakery where my Mom would get rye bread, coffee cakes hot cross buns. I came with her a few times but I wasn’t small enough to still get the free cookie samples so usually I just would wait until she would bring home her selections. I dreaded Lent because I just didn’t get the whole Hot Cross bun attraction. I wanted more goo and sugar! Enter Unilocal with its access to nearly any place that makes food anywhere! I did a search and sure enough, my Mom’s fave bakery was still in business for over 50 years. A short road trip was immediately planned. My husband went crazy ordering paczkis, lemon meringue pie slices and hot cross buns. I threw in some buttercrust rolls and we paid under $ 7.00 for a huge quantity of baked delights. I felt like we were stealing the treats! Last establishment I visited, I bought cupcakes, $ 16.00 for four. We had 8 items for less than half. Deal of the day! All weekend we have been tasting, sharing and savoring the mouth watering samples. My favorites have been the pie slices and the cherry paczki. I ate a Hot Cross bun with some trepidation and discovered my Mom was right, those suckers were delish with a minimum of frosting and sugar, just right. I like the«flavor of the day» type bakeries with hip décor and cute product. But I also adore rediscovering an old school stand out. It is an older building in an older neighborhood but the quality is as fresh as today. See, your Mother is always right.

I’ve been purchasing Birthday Cakes for my children(and sometimes myself) for over 30 years! To say that the Whipped Cream icing is delicious is way understated. The store in Homewood is my favorite. I wouldn’t think of buying my cakes and desserts anyplace else!

They made my wedding cake. It was beautiful and delicious. It was a 3 tier heart shaped cake. They matched the color flowers perfectly with the fabric swatches I gave them. It was perfect!

I can remember as a child making a pit stop at Pearson’s Bakery each Saturday morning while my mother and I would run errands. She would get her coffee and I would get to pick 4 cookies out of the trays and trays of delicious treats in the display case. Pearson’s Bakery doesn’t appear to be much from the outside but inside is a whole other world of baked goods. The muffins, coffee cakes, cinnamon bread(a personal favorite), pastel colored lady finger cookies dipped halfway in colored frosting and topped with sprinkles(another one of my favorites), traditional Italian and Polish cookies, birthday cakes, petit fours, and miniature cartons of milk to wash it all down fills this little bakery with a delightful(and hunger inducing) fragrance. Every birthday cake or just cake for that matter for the first 23 years of my life has come from Pearson’s. I love to peek behind the cash register into the cake decorating area as the head pastry chef spins her latest order on her cake stand while frosting it with the most delicious whipped cream frosting in the world. Prices are beyond reasonable for what you get in flavor and originality.

I LOOOVVE this place. My family always bought our birtrhday cakes here when I was a kid(over thirty years ago; I’m pretty sure it’s been open since the ‘50s, if not longer), and at least once a month we’d hike over to get a delicious, nutritious breakfast of the most awesome chocolate eclairs, EVER. Whenever I’m in da Heights, I stop by if they’re open. Everything is delicious and made on site.

I don’t always eat donuts, but when I do, I prefer Pearson’s. Stay chubby my friends… Pearson’s is a great mom and pop bakery. You go there once, you go there twice. And I’m sorry to tell you there’s just no escaping after that… so deal with it. They have countless loyal customers who would open up an economy sized can of whoop ass on everyone who attended your family reunion if you offered them something from Dunkin Donuts. «Pfh.you kiddin me?» They’ve been around for more than 20 years. they know what their doing. Prices are reasonable and products fresh. They’ve got tons of options for your sweet tooth: cookies, donuts, danishes(hollaaaa!!!), and they will whip up some of, not only the best tasting, but best decorated cake you can get. They might not look like much from the outside, but don’t let the exterior fool you. What’s goin down on the inside is really what’s up… and thats just how its goin down. …Uh…yeah. Pearson’s Bakery: true player fa real… ask Puff Da-ddy. Good talk.
