The food is delicious but a bit pricey. We wished our salads had some more greens in them.

You order upon walking in, get a number, self serve beverages and then take a seat. We ordered the wasabi braised beef sandwich and the avocado club sandwich. Both delish! Sweet potato fries and hummus sides were also very good. Next time, will try the mango salmon salad!

This place is amazing! Everything they serve is locally sourced and/​or organic. I love their strawberry goat cheese salad. Homemade hummus is awesome. Sweet potato fries are on point!

This place is awesome. The prices are really reasonable and the quality is great. I got the special sandwich that was pimento cheese, chicken, and caramelized onions with a side (the sweet potato fries are really good and my boyfriend had the hummus is tasted really fresh). Will definitely be back.

Delicious! Had the Asian Salad and it was just yummy. The atmosphere is fresh, clean, & friendly. Very well organized and easy in & out for lunch. The humus was also VERY good, as were the sweet potato french fries.

Very quick and quiet lunch spot with high quality food. I had the grilled cheese with Apple and bacon and it was wonderful.

Avocado club was incredible and so were the sweet potato fries! Asparagus bisque soup was better than it sounds but I probably wouldn’t order that again. All in all very impressed and will definitely be coming back. Friendly staff and casual atmosphere make for a winner!

A co-​worker and I grabbed lunch at the Cutting Edge today and it was as delicious as our friends said! It was busy when we arrived, but we were able to find a table. The menu is written on the wall and consists of primarily sandwiches and salads, with a soup of the day and sides. Once you placed your order and paid at the front, find a table and they will bring out your order. The kitchen has a nice open feel and patrons can sit at the bar if they’d like.
Our food did not take long at all to arrive. My friend ordered the Asian Chicken salad with carrots, edamame, and crispy wontons with a thai peanut dressing. I was jealous that I didn’t get that! She also got a side of hummus and pita, which was also great. I ordered the Avocado Club with bacon, tomato, lettuce, and aloli (on the side). Very tempted to get the sweet potato fries, I opted for the chickpea salad; a simple salad consisting of whole chickpeas, herbs, cucumber and lemon juice. So fresh and delicious; to be honest, I have not had something like that in a long time. The sandwich was decent; the sandwich was a little «bready» for my taste and wished it had more meat on it. However, that is simply my preference. Next time, and yes, there will be a next time, I would like to get the Mango Salmon Salad for only $ 9.99.
I only wished that they had one of these in Norfolk!

This place has some amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere. Even with a limited menu consisting almost entirely of Paninis and salads this is far from a downside. The grilled cheese with Apple would seem to even some adventurous eaters as a risky flavor combination, but it is so divinely crispy and and sweet, as well as salty and chewy. You have a choice of four sides all somehow better than the last. The sweet potato fries beg you to order a second helping. The side salad is juicy and fresh, and with a choice of 5 different salad dressings you can definitely try something new almost every visit.
Please try this amazing place. I’m already going back next week and will probably make it a weekly ritual.

I haven’t been to this place in quite a few years because I’m not up in the Chesapeake area. Pleasantly I found myself nearby at lunch today and I must say this place has stood the test of time. The black bean and chorizo soup — amazing. Hummus is out of this world. Keep doing what you do so well. What a wonderful repeat experience.

Pesto chicken panini was great and the sweet potato fries were incredible. Service was good and I liked the vibe. Will definitely be back

Wow I’m so glad I found this place. My lunch was delicious and everyone was really nice. I loved the atmosphere of the place and it was vary clean. The food is as good as the pictures you see on here.

We went for dinner. This world be a great lunch spot. The food was certainly fresh and tasty. I had the Asian chicken salad. It was a good size for a man. The greens were fresh and it was delicious, except the peanut vinegarette was an odd choice for a dressing. It tasted OK, it just took me a moment to get the flavors. My wife had the 3 sides meal. She had the chick peas salad, which was surprisingly tasty and the portion size is right. Any bigger and it would be to much. She also had the sweet potato fries, which I liked because of the extra pepper, but she doesn’t like pepper, so that worked out in my favor. Lastly she had the pita bread and hummus, which is impossible to mess up.
It was a cute trendy little restaurant that was clean. Service was quick and friendly. Fairly easy to find and lots of parking. Prices were reasonable, I guess, when you are talking about fresh local food.

Ive only been here once but it was amazing! If you enjoy farm to table creative dishes for a very reasonable price, super friendly service and a very laid back atmosphere. this place is for you! Cant wait to go back=)

This place served me the best sandwich I have ever eaten. I got the chicken pesto panini with a side of pita and hummus. The food was great. The flavors all melded very well together where as the strongest most prominent flavor was the fresh basil. You could taste all the flavors and it was amazing. The fresh herbs and vegetables were great. Prices aren’t bad at all. Overall this place was great and I will be coming back more often.

Bright and clean healthy fresh food restaurant with efficient service! The $ 10.02 (including taxes, no tip) wasabi braised sandwich was incredibly flavorful and fresh. The combination of flavor was interesting and with the right amount of spiciness.
This price included one side you could choose between various options: sweet potatoes French fries, etc. I picked the amazing homemade hummus with lukewarm pita bread. It is great they have been sourcing some of their organic ingredients locally.
You can eat in or request your dishes to go.
It was easy and free to park.
I will definitely go back to try the blackened chicken with vegetables and/​or baby Bella chicken sandwich. I recommended this place to my local friends on Facebook. This is the best sandwich restaurant with an innovative concept in VA so far!

FRESH, clean and delicious. I like the chill atmosphere … Very chill. I wish I had pictures but I ate all the food so quick. We ordered the Cobb salad, mushroom Brie and blt. It was phenomenal!!! I will definitely be back here again.

This is the perfect place to grab a light, clean and healthy bite to eat. Everything is made pretty much right in front of you. The dinning area is small but comfortable. I love coming here for lunch. I wish there was a cutting edge in every city in the 757 area. It is amazing!

Wow, it was my first time here and my cousin wanted me to try this place out, so we came here after we worked out. The place is very chill and the employees are very nice and friendly. They grow their own herbs and display them outside their store
We both had ordered the Wasabi braised beef Sandwich, which consisted of braised beef, pickled veggies, arugula, and Wasabi mayo. We also paired it with their sweet potato fries. The food was phenomenal. It isn’t like your ordinary panera, their bread is softer and the aioli sauce makes it sooo yummmmy! The sauce was so goood, that i had to ask for more! Their sweet potato fries were on point too. They have a great crisp to them and usually sweet potato fries are usually kinda of flimsy.
My overall experience here was very good, and I know I will come back for some more!

I love being greeted with raised beds of fresh herbs before walking in! CxE is all about supporting locally grown produce and it reflects on their menu items.
The wasabi braised beef panini with a side of sweet potato fries is my favorite CxE combo thus far. I was just recently introduced to their house aioli sauce which paired nicely with the wasabi mayo.
The sweet potato fries definitely one up all others that I have ever tried anywhere, and you get a hefty amount. Thank you CxE for not skimping on the fries!

The Cutting Edge is a great place to grab a quick lunch. My personal favorite is the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. I highly recommend giving this local gem a try!

This is my second time here. So far, they’ve absolutely earned all five stars.
Service is quick and friendly. The bathrooms a general area area clean. The food is delicious. And, bonus points for being veg-​friendly, breastfeeding-​friendly, Eco-​friendly, and having an open kitchen!
I’ve ordered the wasabi beef sandwich and the chicken and mushroom sandwich. Hubby ordered a special (I forgot what it’s called, but it was chipotle-​themed), and the avocado club. We both enjoyed all four (yes, I had some of his & he had some of mine) dishes.
We drove 20 minutes out of the way to come here a second time. Yes, the food is that good!

I’d heard great things about this place and just had to try it for myself. After finally visiting, it did not disappoint!
The restaurant is pretty small, but there’s plenty of seating – enough that we didn’t have to worry about finding a place to sit and enjoy our food. The menu is written on a giant chalkboard wall right at the entrance. It was very easy to read and had a short description of each choice. All you have to do is order at the register, take your seat, and wait for your food to be served. The prices were all very reasonable and affordable for a great lunch option.
I ordered the baby bella chicken panini with sweet potato fries as my side. The sandwich tasted delicious and the sweet potato fries were the best out of any place I’d ever tried. The sandwich was so juicy and flavorful – I couldn’t get enough! This place definitely lived up to all of my expectations, and I can’t wait to go back and try more!

I had a really cool experience here. I stopped in for lunch recently and they had a sign that they were closing early to attend a funeral. It was about 15 minutes before the posted time and the lady at the counter offered to make a carry out order for me which was just fine as they didn’t even have to do that.
I quickly glanced at their eclectic menu ordered an Avocado Club Panini with Sweet Potato Fries and brought it back to work. It came nicely bundled up in a paper lunch type bag and when I opened it up there was a nicely wrapped sandwich and the bottom of the bag was filled with hot sweet potato fries.
I need to get back over there soon and check out some of their other items. It’s not to hard to find, Cutting Edge Café can be found in the shops located to the side of Sam’s Club closer to Volvo Parkway.

After seeing the rave reviews of Cutting Edge, I was excited to try it out. When my boys and I walked through the door, the inside is cool and eclectic; the art pieces on the wall, bright colors, and the tin ceiling make a fun vibe. The chalkboard menu is simple: get your order at the bar, receive a number, and find a seat.
They have a separate water and ice machine beside the soda. I love that! I thought the container for the utensils and napkins on the table were different – in a good way. The food was brought to us and we were ready!
I know that CS has a Pork Belly sandwich, but I was disappointing to see it wasn’t on the menu that day – next time! I decided to go with the Grilled Cheese and Apple: cheddar, bacon, apple, and dijon mustard with the sweet potato fries. The sandwich was just okay; however, the bacon – OMG! The bacon! It was crispy and flavorful – dare I say it was the best bacon ever. The sweet potato fries were phenomenal: the right amount of crispiness and the heavenly combo of sweet and salty.
The other sandwiches were very good (Wasabi Braised Beef and Pesto Chicken); one got the hummus with bread (fantastic) and the other got sesame noodles, which were «meh.» They were a bit dry and unseasoned. Overall, we thought our meals were great.
Something cool about Cutting Edge is having their own «garden» outside. I always give big bonus points for local ingredients. I’m giving a 4 star for now but I will go back and hopefully try that pork belly sandwich.

Came out here on a whim (for the 2^nd time — first time it was closed) specifically for the vegetarian options and the great reviews here on Unilocal.
It’s located in one of the strip malls by the Battlefield area. First things first — CHECK their hours before you go. Their hours are a little «different» so it’s advisable to check before leaving.
Upon entering the place you’ll see that it has a nice ‘café” feel to it. The décor is simple and not over the top while the menu is written on a chalkboard to the right of the store when you first enter. I like it as I think it gives it a little bit of personality to the place.
The menu is very balanced. Enough choices for me to not feel like I’ve walked into a «vegan only» place while also having a plethora of options for my wife to bounce around between what to eat (makes me feel good when she has options to choose from).
The food we ordered was fantastic. We both had the sweet potato fries and we absolutely loved them. Someone mentioned that they were rather salty and yes I’d have to agree. They are a bit but we tend to like them that way. All the food was very wholesome. I’ll be honest though, when I first was handed my food, I thought it wasn’t going to be enough. Somehow, I was surprisingly full. Overall, we were very pleased with the food and glad we made it out to try the food.
The service though was rather lack-​luster. We arrived with around 1 hour till closing and there were hardly any customers in the facility. Maybe they had a rough lunch service or maybe a bad day, but either way, the person who took our order seemed unapproachable and made us feel very «blah» to be there. Thankfully, the food stood out as if the food was below par, we would probably not come back.
Overall, very good visit. We would come back again and when we do, if the service perks up a bit, I’ll be sure to update this review accordingly.
