My favorite breakfast spot in Chesapeake! Wonderful food! Regina was our waitress and was great! Friendly and very attentive, my coffee never went cold or got empty. She even gave me a cup of jo to go. We will be back!

This is the closest thing I have found to that Stylish Late Saturday Brunch and Mimosa Place After a Fun Night that everyone needs to have. I had been wanting Eggs Benedict and they can sometimes be hard to find without unreasonable expectations for IHOP getting hollandaise right. Eggs Benedict is actually one of The Egg Bistro’s specialties. I ordered The Corsica which is Eggs Benedict with spinach, garlic, tomatoes, basil, and feta cheese, covered with hollandaise sauce all on a toasted French baguette. It comes with hash browns or grits. The Corsica is even better than it sounds. I was somewhat apprehensive that the spinach would not meld well with the dish but it was sufficiently cooked in oil rather than fresh and it turned out to be delightful. The garlic was flavorful but a bit under-powered. Roasted garlic crushed into smaller pieces would have made an excellent crown to this dish. Since that would probably too much for most people, it could be added as an option. The hollandaise sauce was good but had a somewhat commercial taste to it, possibly by not using raw egg yolks or having some type of preservative added to it. The French baguette was a significant improvement to the typical Eggs Benedict. Rather than a weak, soggy(but delicious) piece of bread it added a crisp character throughout the dish and at the end that was a perfect balance to the other soft and liquid ingredients. I may have to start substituting this in other orders of Eggs Benedict. Overall, The Corsica was a creatively inspired and enjoyable dish. Their default style of hash browns is towards the soft end and their circumference is quite larger than normal so if you like yours crispy or somewhat more well done, I would recommend that you tell them how you want them cooked. I was pleased to see they had real butter available in single serving containers. They had many different types of hot sauce available to add to the hash browns. It would have been nice to see a list of these even if just on a little slip of paper. I couldn’t tell which to chose so I just had the waitress chose one for me. The hash browns would have been improved quite a bit with some garlic as well but I don’t know if most people are used to that on hash browns. The mimosa contained a large amount of ice and even before any melting, the champagne to orange juice ratio was quite weak. The official IBA recipe has a 1:1 ratio and NOICE. I’m not expecting a Buck’s Fizz here but the ice is an extreme. I observed several waitresses making them incorrectly in this same manner so this seems to be a company recipe rather than an isolated action by one employee. One could probably ask them to correct this but I wanted to be absolutely sure before I made an accusation like this so I just watched without saying anything. The menu is extensive and is seven pages not counting the cover and it does not include the wine list nor the draught beer list. I can be picky and yet there were so many things that sounded good that I had trouble deciding. The bar is well stocked not just for a breakfast place, but for any restaurant. You can order quite elaborate drinks here and they have the stock and the knowledge to make them without substituting ingredients. They have half priced Bloody Marys, Screwdrivers, and Mimosas before 9 on the weekends but that is just not going to happen for me that early. Their alcohol profit margins are safe. Despite being packed out, the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. I actually had multiple waitresses check on me rather than just the one that was serving me. With the number of people the waitresses were serving, they were not able watch and refill my drink the moment I had a dry glass but someone would be along a few minutes later and take care of it. Since this place is so well regarded and popular, there can be long lines, even out the door sometimes. If you see someone else parking or walking in at the same time as you, get out of the car and beat them to the door. It’s worth it. If you don’t want to wait, I would recommend coming here at off-peak times. I think I waited till 1 or 2 and I only had to wait 10 minutes or so. I’m really surprised that there are a couple of 1 star reviews on here because«the wait was long» or «I called and asked the wait time but it changed as more people came to the restaurant by the time I made it over there.» This is just ridiculous. I would really like to see this place add a shaded patio/umbrella tables and some palm trees and take over more of the strip mall so they could keep the lines down. Sound dampening panels are desperately needed as the noise level is excessive. This makes it difficult to speak to the waitress or friends. The kitchen is open through a window to the bar so this also adds to the noise level. Overall, this is one of the better breakfast restaurant experiences I have had in the Hampton Roads area and I look forward to returning and sampling more of their menu.

I went there for lunch with my mother and had a sandwich and a bowl of cream of broccoli soup. The soup was excellent, the sandwich was really great, but only a bit heavy on the red pepper mayonnaise. I am not a supporter of mayonnaise. I finished half the sandwich, because it was quite large, and considering I had a bowl of soup to begin. The service was excellent. I’d truly like to try their breakfast. They used to just serve breakfast and lunch, but lately began serving dinner Wednesday comprehensive Saturday.

Dropped in last Saturday for the first time with my wife for brunch, and was not disappointed… I had the Firecracker omelet and my wife ordered the Meat Lovers omelet. Both came out promptly and delicious and our waitress was very nice. The décor was nice, and my wife really liked the art work on the walls as well as the clothes on display. A little loud but I credit that to good business so I wouldn’t complain! I really enjoyed the beer menu and can say I would return again on the strength of that alone. Love that it doesn’t have that chain vibe the staff seemed to be happy to be there, and I hope they keep it that way. Easily going to add to our list of go to places.

This is our favorite local spot for breakfast. The Egg Bistro is a Chesapeake staple and we have never had a bad experience here before. Because of their popularity, coming before 9:00AM is a must on weekends. Half off Bloody Marys and mimosas before 9:00 are also a plus. On our visit today our service was excellent thanks to our waitress Sarah. I usually get the blue crab Benedict and chose cheese grits for a side. A great deal for $ 12.99. We took advantage of the half off bloody Marys, hubby got 2, and I got a large pineapple mimosa. $ 3 is more than worth it. The kids’ meals were large portions with drinks included for $ 4.99. Great family breakfast dining and highly recommended!

This is my favorite local breakfast spot to visit! Prices are reasonable and the wait isn’t as bad as other similar spots in the VA Beach/Chesapeake area. If you are one of those special people like me who like eating seafood for breakfast, I recommened the Crab Omelet. It’s completely loaded with good quality crab meat and the omelet itself is HUGE! I also really enjoy their grits. Such a simple item but most places really F up grits for some reason. Egg Bistros are seasoned well and yummy. If you are looking for a solid place for breakfast/brunch, whether by yourself/with a large group/special someone, it accommodates all discerning tastes.

This is my 3rd time going to the Egg bistro and i have ordered a different meal everytime. So to me it is safe to say that the food is mediocre. If i am waiting 45 minutes + for a table/bar seating then i expect the food to be amazing. In my opinion the breakfast is pretty much a step up from Ihop. Thats not enough for me to want to wait almost an hour for. But The staff is always friendly and the drinks are good so that may be why they are always busy because it surely cant be the breakfast itself!

So, I called 15 minutes before arriving and they said there was no wait that we would have no issue. Just arrived said it was at least a 30 minute wait. Completely unprofessional and a total disregard for people who have schedules. UPDATE– Oh, also apparently if you write something the super professional business owner doesn’t like you better be prepared for an extremely rude response, for example: «This is the most idiotic review I’ve read, etc» But I see there’s also a public comment. Which is nothing like the actual nasty message that was sent Well, to you sir– that’s the most idiotic response I’ve ever gotten. Firstly I came to your restaurant solely based on help reviews which actually said great things about your food. I was hesitant because of the wait time comments which is why«idiotic» me thought to call to feel out the level of business for this morning. We are new from out of state and are looking for a good breakfast… That was all. So maybe instead of being an unprofessional, rude, «business owner» why don’t you have managerial fortitude and say hey man maybe my wait times suck? Or maybe my staff needs to be better trained on how to communicate wait time so people aren’t disappointed when they are stuck for however longer waiting on their food, lukewarm or not(yes I read that review and still decided to go) You’ve lost a customer, that’s for sure.(You’re thinking that’s fine we don’t need customers like you– so let me just save your breathe)

The food here is tasty on a revolving menu, which makes this place rock but what makes it special is the people.

I’d never suggest the Egg Bistro… poor service, long wait time and below average breakfast… How do you screw up breakfast… Cold eggs and hashbrowns after waiting 20 min. for your order is simply piss poor service or management issues. Sorry Bistro,. ya really need to get it together. We won’t be back. :(

Today was my first day going here for brunch. When you walk in there are a few seats for you if there’s a wait, but luckily when my friend and I went we only had to wait a few minutes for a table to be cleaned up. The waitresses and hostesses were very nice and often came to the table to check on us and refill our waters. I ordered a Blue Crab Eggs Benedict with Shredded Hashbrowns and I can say that it was probably the best meal I’ve ever had for brunch. When it was first set on the table you can smell the crabs right away and I was skeptical about having eggs benedict for the first time, but I love it now! It looked just as good as it tastes. There are a lot of good choices on the menu and I look forward to eating brunch here again soon!

The broken egg is always a great place to grab breakfast/brunch. Unfortunately, it gets really crowded on the weekends, so be sure to get there early! There are so many choices on the menu: pancakes, waffles, french toast, omelettes, you name it. There’s also a selection of mimosas and desserts. They also have a location in Suffolk which I’ve been to as well. But there is so much to choose from, then you have to decide how you want your eggs, how you want your hash browns(shredded or cubed, both are great), and choose from a bunch of different bread for your toast. There is something here for everyone, even for you picky eaters out there! :)

This place is seriously awesome. Unfortunately, that means that they are packed on the weekend and you will experience a wait. Ours was 30 minutes on a Saturday morning at 0930; group of friends so no time lost as we chatted the time away. Menu: excellent choices Service: prompt and friendly Coffee: flavored and regular creamer yah! Breakfast: absolutely fantastic. (I like my friend eggs whites cooked, yolk runny; most places can’t get it right, TEB did!) Of note the ability to order your entire breakfast ala carte was particularly appealing. This is a definite come back.

I had previously heard a lot of hype about this little café before trying it when I was home visiting family this week, so I was severely disappointed when I went to try it and didn’t actually like my meal. At all. I ordered a veggie wrap, which was advertised as an assortment of veggies with Italian dressing, but there was no sort of dressing at all. It was dry and tasteless, and the side of fries that I paid extra for was literally like 10 fries on a plate. Unilocalers, I have a serious flaw and it happens every time. I never speak up. Instead I ate half of the wrap, all 10 of my fries, and told the waitress that all was fine. Because I’ve been in customer service. I know the terrible, heartless people that waiters and waitresses must deal with, and I can’t bring myself to give them any sort of trouble. So for not giving them an opportunity to fix the problem, I’m throwing in a third bonus star. It should also be noted that our waitress seemed insanely busy, our drinks weren’t refilled, the ketchup bottles on our table and the surrounding tables were all empty, which reeks to me of an understaffed establishment! I won’t be very bothered to return to this café when I come back home to Virginia I the future, but the rest of my family loved their meals so perhaps they deserve a shot!

The broken egg is a diamond sitting right in the middle of the chesapeake area. I came during brunch time a few months back and did not want to leave. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait. It seems this place is extremely popular. Once we were seated. The waitress was knowledgeable and offered us many choices that are popular and some of her personal favorites. One thing i love about egg bistro is the large meals they seeve.(I like food). The prices are not bad at all. me and my cousin’s meal came out to $ 30 together along with drinks. Would and will be going back.

This is one of those places you go where you’re like«Man, I want brunch with a mimosa and maybe some dessert.» If you don’t know what you want, OR want everything, ORR want to make everyone happy then the Egg Bistro is the spot. I’ve tried their waffles which are pretty bomb, I always request it a la mode bc I have a sweet tooth problem. The 2E’s Two Step with the bacon wrapped asparagus with hollandaise yes please. You can’t go wrong with the eggs Benedict. And if you’re just not having breakfast I would recommend their burgers which are so flavorful. They’re simple but they season their patty well and the veggies on it. For dinner their crab cake sandwiches are filling, I ordered mine cooked broiled with a side salad. I could go on and rave about how awesome the food, atmosphere, and service is here. This place never disappoints. American style food with a modern 757 twist. I wish Egg Bistro many years of success and hopefully more locations to come.

I used to visit this location often for breakfast and lunch but only did dinner once due to a negative experience. My second experience was much better than before. You can tell that the managers of this place have put the focus back on customer service as I had no issues with anything. I visited on a Saturday night and sat at the bar for their Prime Rib Special. I received a 10 oz prime rib which I could have cut with a plastic knife. Very tender and not too much fat. The gouda mashers which I was hesitant to get because Im just not a mashed potatoes person were delicious, the side salad was very small and I received more dressing than necessary for a salad of that size but it did the job. They had half off margaritas(only $ 4 dollars) and they were perfection! I will definitely visit again for dinner now that I see that things have improved.

As mentioned in other reviews, Egg Bistro(aka The Broken Egg) is quite busy. Probably one of the busiest mid-week breakfast places I’ve seen in a while. And that’s a good thing because it hopefully means the breakfast is going to be good. And yes, it was good. I chose the veggie omelet with pepper jack cheese and got exactly that. A nice big omelet with lots of asparagus and mushrooms and tomatoes and spinach. No onions, per my request. Interestingly, they offer both cubed hash browns and shredded. As you’ll see from the picture, I went cubed. Nicely soft on the inside and browned outside — very nice potatoes. The sourdough toast was a little light but still quite good. Very nice meal. Coffee was surprisingly good and my waitress came back often to keep it warmed up. Good service. I can absolutely see why Egg Bistro is busy. It’s good!

A breakfast staple in Chesapeake, expect this place to be packed. The place has expanded since they first opened to have a spacious waiting area, but still a lot of people can be found waiting outside or even in the parking lot under the trees on a sunny day. Boyfriend and I came here for some brunch and had to wait about 20 – 25 minutes to get a table. The table was right by the bar area and we were right by a big party. Don’t expect this place to be your quiet sit down eatery. The tall ceilings amplify the noise of a crowded room, but to me it just livens up the atmosphere. We ordered mimosas. I got the original, while boyfriend got the mango. Surprisingly, it comes in two sizes — regular and large. We both got the large which looks like the size of a decent white wine glass full(pictured). I also got a coffee which came with a bunch of different creamers… yay hazelnut creamer! For our order, I got the steak and eggs with some extra crispy shredded hash browns and white toast. I thought they only had cubed hash browns, but I was happy to find out they also have the shredded option. They cooked most of my food to my expectations. The steak was on the more well done side than my requested medium. I enjoyed my meal regardless. Boyfriend loved his healthy portion of country fried steak with scrambled eggs, biscuit, and hash browns. Service with our waitress was great. She seemed to be keeping the place together since she mentioned some new people were working that day and she was keeping tabs on them. She was very attentive and made sure to give us refills appropriately. I must say it was quite warm inside the place. I think it had to do with so many people inside, high ceilings, a sunny day, and plenty of people going in and out that makes it hard to keep cool Definitely a go-to spot for breakfast and they seem to do a great job accommodating big groups. Just be prepared for a wait for some great food and drinks.

Brunch classics, attentive service, and reasonable prices. The Egg Bistro is a treat. The service was not friendly, but they came by often and got the order right. This was breakfast and lunch for me so the steak and eggs with grits and«toast» was not overkill.(The cook needs to stand a little closer to the toaster) My partner Jim enjoyed the blackfin crab omelette. Bonus star because the place is popular and they still focus on quality and plating.
