Very rude and unfriendly place. Not the experience you hope for when going to a salon to relax and pay for a service or treatment. Heard the f word on two separate occasions by two different employees while they were shouting at each other. Extremely unprofessional. The worst was when my hair stylist interrogated me about my personal life while cutting my hair and then offered some very nasty commentary and«advice» If my hair wasn’t wet and uneven from the partial cut I would have walked out because I was that uncomfortable. Do yourself a favor and find a better salon with classy people… there are so many good ones around the area!

I went to C’est La Vie for a pedicure for the first time because I was in the area. The«pedicure room» is basically a closet with no windows, horrible lighting and absolutely no relaxing ambiance. After my pedicure, the pedicurist told me to sit in the chair and wait for them to dry and then she left me sitting there for over a half hour, without coming to check on me or tell me I was okay to leave. When I got home and finally took a closer look, I realized what a horrible job she did. She filed some nails way shorter than the others, so nothing looked even and then the dark color I had chosen was streaky and«pooling» in my cuticles. I could have saved my money and done a better job at home by myself.

honestly this was the worst salon I’ve ever been to they made me drive 35 minutes to get there to tell me that I have to reschedule because they only have 15 minutes to do my hair when I already had appointment! The lady Deborah who was talking to me about it was so rude about it she told me I had to reschedule which they didn’t know know when the next opening was! I would honestly suggest anyone to never go there again they’re absolutely very rude there!!! if I were to rate this place I wouldn’t even give them a star but unfortunately I have to give them one star because it won’t let me post ! never again… so unwelcoming

Warning for those with a groupon. Ask questions on the phone. I purchased a haircut with blowout, and was charged for the blowout(albeit half price). I was happy with the cut(basic trim) and the blowout was fantastic, but the cost of the blowout really negated any discount. They actually expected me to walk out with dry hair. No wash. If I wanted that, I’d go to supercuts. I was too tired to argue but I knew they were pulling a fast one. My stylist was friendly but the reception desk is curt and not all that friendly. Just a heads up.

The salon is not very pleasant – very unwelcoming staff even when you are just making an appt on the phone, they only take cash, it’s always very chaotic and loud. But Deborah Mezzo is amazing and only reason I kept going back. always gave me a great cut and color, just wish she worked somewhere else.

I’ve been coming to C’est La Vie for over 5 years. I saw the same stylist for all those years, and she recently stopped working there. She recommended someone else there for me before she left and I just had my first appointment with her. I got a full head of highlights and she broke my base color. I’ve been doing this for years and my old stylist charged me $ 140 every single time, from my first visit to my last. This new girl did my hair, and it looked okay, not the same of course, but decent, I guess. When I got to the front to pay, imagine my surprise when my total was $ 240. If there had been a slight increase that would have been fine, because I’d never seen this woman before. However an extra one hundred dollars for a result that I didn’t even like very much, was ridiculous. If I had known the price was going to change now that I was seeing someone else despite being a loyal customer for years, recommending numerous friends, and giving a new stylist a chance when they lost my favorite, you’d think someone would tell me about this ridiculous price increase. I won’t be back.

I am writing this review not because of C’est la Vie per se, but because of a truly gifted colorist/stylist who works there. Deborah Mezzo should not be a well-kept secret. She is extremely knowledgeable, works on her craft(even spending her own money to attend color/hair cutting workshops several times during the year) very diligently, and has a wonderful personality with the sense of humor to match. Stop in for a consultation, a haircut, or some highlights. You’ll be positively amazed at how well Deborah will handle your hair(fine, coarse, in need of good, natural-looking, vibrant color), she can do it all exceptionally well. You won’t regret your decision. And you’ll definitely return. Deborah is a true find.

I first went here using my Groupon and had an oriental gentleman who made me feel extremely uncomfortable and didn’t seem to know what to do. I had an idea to do low lights and a stylish haircut and he kept half-heartedly debating it. Several other stylists got involved and I wound up only having the haircut, saving the«lights» for later. As I was there, I watched another stylist who was so personable and obviously skilled. Coincidentally, as I was leaving, I had the opportunity to speak with him. He suggested that when I was ready, to ask for him. I did that and what a difference! His name is Michael and he really knows his stuff! I absolutely love what he did with my hair a few months later and will be going back to him shortly. He is extremely knowledgeable; very personable; listens to what the customer wants and makes honest suggestions. If I were able to put a second«star» rating above, I would give him a 5.

My experience at this salon today was not a day at the spa! First off, I felt like I was trapped in the 90’s. My pedicure was nice until the lady began razoring the little bit of dead skin I had off the bottoms of my feet with what appeared to be an unsterile tool. Now I have sensitive skin on the bottoms of my feetThen as mentioned below, there was barely any massage! Which was such a bummer. Then I waited about 30 minutes to get a manicure… with an appointment mind you. And when I finally sat down not only did the manicurist choose the color polish for me, she started sawing my gel polish off with the electric file! I only had gel polish on my nails, which should be soaked off. I know have pretty mani and pedi but my feet are raw and my once strong natural nails are thin as paper and really annoying me. This place is stuck in the 90’s, for sure. And after all that, I was told to «bring cash» next time, because they prefer that over debit cards. hmmmm… get with it people. terrible experience — sorry! But hey, That’s life ;)

I purchased a groupon for a mani/pedi at this salon and thought i would share my experience. First off, I think they sold too many groupings as scheduling was near impossible. The lady at the front desk however, was very nice! My first concern was that the tools Amy used on my feet did not appear to be sterilized. Just wish I’d noticed this immediately! Next, the leg massage(which is of course my favorite part) was approximately 20 seconds per leg! Lastly, the manicure was simply atrocious! My 10 year old niece paints a better manicure! She just slipped the paint on and didn’t bother to clean up the mess she left behind. I wasn’t too upset because it was a groupon and therefore, a good deal. However, when I learned that a normal mani/pedi is $ 53(!) I felt the need to post a review! With so many salons in the Chatham and Madison area, I wouldn’t waste your money here on any nail services when you can get a much better«bang for your buck» elsewhere.

I had a awesome experience with Deborah. She is very knowledgable when it comes to color. I had a partial head of highlights done and a trim. She was amazing. I have had a lot of trouble with my hair in the past. I am very happy with the find.
