So tsunami is no longer tsunami. It has been taken over by a place called choices. They had a very limited menu. We ordered the beef pot stickers and it was watery and unflavored. not happy. Even for a restaurant in transition it was pretty sad. I won’t be returning after tonight.

The food was okay I had the udon noodle with beef plate which didn’t live up to expectations but the salad and sushi roll were great! I had the nemo roll and wasn’t dissapointed at all!

I came here for the first time for half off night. The appetizers, hibachi and rolls were all half off. In my opinion, with the price, it was a really good deal. Our waiter, Calli, was really nice and we never had to ask her for anything. As soon as our drinks were brought out, she took our dinner orders and all three of our meals were out in less than 20 minutes. We had two hibachi orders and five different sushi rolls. I think the food was really good. We stayed and hung out for about an hour and a half after dinner. I ordered steak and shrimp hibachi and two sushi rolls, my check came out to $ 17 which I thought was really reasonable for all the food we got. The restaurant was nice and clean, they don’t cook the hibachi in front of you, but there are other places in Charleston that do so no need to throw a fit. I would definitely come back, I even made reservations for my birthday next week for a party of 20.

Good sushi place but wasn’t the best ever. Satisfied my craving though! Sweet service and nicely decorated.

$ 2.50 wells, $ 2 blue moons and a brand new staff who doesn’t seem to know much about the menu… ok sushi but plenty of space to sit all night and catch up w company… I just feel bad for our waiter, he wasn’t trained well at all. Too new for such a large party —

I couldn’t be more disappointed at the food service and food in downtown charleston — if I could give zero stars… That’d be my review. This is my second visit and I’ve been here 2.5 hrs(with 6 friends). There are 4 empty tables and the entire sushi bar seating is empty. I’ve been waiting for my order: miso soup and veggie spring rolls. So… Q: will I be returning? — A: big, fat, «No!!» Instead drive 20 more minutes and look up Zen Asian fusion or lee lee’s kitchen.

First off, let me say, best sushi in town. Always fresh, always on point. Now let me get to the good stuff. Ive been coming here for four years and theyve had food and bev night on mondays, but now its open to everyone! Half off pretty much their entire menu. So sushi, hibachi, tataki, you name it, half prics. So like I said, I’ve been coming here a while and I’ve always loved the food, but it wasnt until recently they took my experience from a four star to a five star. We started sitting at the sushi bar(that has new super comfy lounge seats) and met one of the sushi guys named Glenn. After chatting us up and getting to know us he found out my husband is going to Korea for a year and he pretty much has been taking care of us since. So not only is he giving us great service but encouraging us to try new things and broadening our sushi knowledge. My husband really didnt want to eat here anymore, not being a huge sushi fan, and now every monday until he leaves, we are here chowing down because of Glenn. So the customer service here is just amazing. I’d give it 10 stars! Tsunami and especially Glenn took our dining experience to the next level. I recommend them to anyone searching for a staff thats friendly and knowledgeable and food that is out of this world.

Great sushi place! I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad dining experience here. The selection of rolls is phenomenal and they always taste so fresh! The crispy crab wontons are freaking amazing! I’d go to Tsunami just for those. I’ve been here before with my significant other and also a group of friends and we’ve all left very satisfied. The wait staff is great and the atmosphere is nice. This place used to get pretty rowdy on Friday and Saturday day nights, but I hear that they are under new management now and it doesn’t get that way anymore. On a side note, they used to have this awesome fish tank right when you walked in, they don’t have it anymore so that kinda sucks.

Comments from our dinner party: «Sushi was meh. $ 15 bottle of wine was worth it.» «We ordered 3 plates of crab rangoon. So good.» «We had so much food and it really wasn’t expensive at all.»

Ok we stopped here with one of my wife’s friends so that they could sit eat and talk with minimal noise. It worked well for our intent. Atmosphere was nice, not great but comfortable. Matched the prices they charged. The sushi we had was great and well presented, really liked the Krispy Wasabi roll. All in all the food was better then the atmosphere, waiting staff was a bit inattentive, but we really only had to wait for the Third beer which was only $ 2. So all in all I would go there again. Very reasonably priced with better than expected food. They could get rid of the TVs or put something Asian on TV… NHL playoffs doesn’t fit the theme of this place. 3 stars for atmosphere 4 + for food.

Good, fresh and creative rolls. Nice variety of drinks. Service was efficient and accommodating, especially since my friend spilled three drinks and we both made a mess with the soy sauce. Spicy tuna sashimi was amazing– like ahi poke withe spicy mayo. The half baked roll was DOPE. Using baked salmon instead of rice to roll a spicy tuna roll– ingenious! Jalapeño poppers were ok, they were super spicy and I couldn’t talk for about 5−7minutes After eating one. I wasn’t a fan of the seafood dynamite– it was 80% crab stick and drenched in spicy mayo. I’d like to see more things wrapped in cucumber or anything but rice. But overall I was very happy! Final thought– The menu is a little difficult to navigate– some are on the paper menu, some on the formal menu. Weird.

Let me start by saying the sushi is phenomenal. There is a huge selection of rolls to choose from, and all the ones I’ve had have been great. Happy hour prices are great with a slew of ½ price apps and rolls. The reason this place only gets 4 stars from me is the fact that their bathroom is a disaster. Every time I’ve been I’ve been grossed out. This is a pretty nice restaurant, and keeping the bathroom clean shouldn’t be that big of a task.

I have read several reviews and it seems like this place has not gotten the best reviews, but I went with a friend this past Wednesday and the food and service was great! We both ordered the All you can eat sushi, and the rolls we both got were delicious. I also got a glass of wine since glasses were half off for happy hour and it went nicely with the sushi. Our waitress was very observant and she checked in and made sure we had everything we needed. I feel like Wednesday is a good night to go, and I hope to go back sometime soon.

I went with 2 friends during restaurant week and once the hostess seated us it took probably 10 minutes for our server to come over(they were not busy at all). She was apologetic and very nice but she was still pretty slow getting our drinks throughout dinner and she never told us there were happy hour specials. We were given their regular menu, restaurant week menu and Tuesday night all you can eat sushi menu — it was too much to choose from! All you can eat sushi is a good deal if you can eat a lot! We did the restaurant week specials and got a mix to share — the rainbow and crab crunch rolls(both were fresh and very good), chicken/shrimp/steak hibachi(this was good but the steak was overcooked — they did not ask how we wanted it cooked), veggie spring rolls(delish), chocolate lava cake(decadent) and fried cheesecake(tasted like fair food — I would suggest the lava cake over this one). Overall, it was good but not the best. There are many other sushi/hibachi places that are better.

Stay away from this place if you want authentic Japanese food. I’m in town for a girls weekend and we decided to stop here last minute for dinner. We should’ve followed our gut when we asked if there were hibachi tables and the guy told us «We make the hibachi orders in the back». They have a decent sushi menu and we enjoyed the specialty rolls we ordered: The Duffy, Nemo and Heartbreaker(has a kick). As for the hibachi entrees, they were a complete miss. I ordered the chicken and shrimp entrée. The pieces of chicken were sweet and a bit dry and looked like something you would get from the mall food court. Definitely not fresh and looked reheated. The shrimp was rubbery and obviously heated in the microwave. The sautéed veggies were very salty. The«hibachi rice» was NOT what we expected and a complete letdown. It was essentially a scoop of brown rice in a bowl. All of our entrees came with a heaping serving of white sauce probably because they were expecting us to drown our food in it to take away the nasty taste. Our server was fine and checked in on us as needed. This is obviously a college spot and while it’s fine for sushi, if you are looking for an authentic hibachi spot, steer clear. If you don’t care and just want to feed your Asian food craving with no regard to quality, then go right ahead!
