Had a great experience last night at Oak Steakhouse! I had proposed to my girlfriend(now fiancé) yesterday at Boone Hall Plantation and this restaurant was a great place to cap off the day. Service was excellent, food was amazing and I must say that we throughly enjoyed the Lobster Mac and Cheese. We’re from Greenville, SC and we use to go to a restaurant called Sobys for their Lobster Mac and Cheese. They got rid of their Lobster and Mac and we have been searching out an equivalent ever since. Believe me when I say, you guys killed it. Thanks again for such a great experience and helping us celebrate! Cheers!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had, service by Dave was exceptional. Cheese plate was fresh, great honey and selection of cheeses. Next was Caesar salad, this is the only nit pick, it was a little salty. Dinner was steak, 14oz strip cooked to perfection and perfectly hot. This might be the best steak I’ve ever had. Sides of creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. All were awesome. I can’t say enough and will go back next time in Charleston.

My favorite steak house in Charleston. I always get the white tablecloth treatment here. Sunday night is a good day to visit, they have ½ off many of the wines They have the best oyster Rockefeller I have ever had! Not expensive for $ 3.00 each because they are big, fresh and tender. The burger is house ground and amazing. The truffle fries are always served hot and that is a real plus. Wonderful foie gras, rich and buttery. Steaks are of course cooked perfectly The staff knows the menu and wines The bottom floor is noisy so ask for a table upstairs and in the front room if you want quiet. Hard to get a seat if you don’t have reservations

Great experience overall. My mother and I took an unplanned girls trip to Charleston for a couple days and Oak was able to take us with only an hour notice for the reservation. Upon arrival, we noticed how loud it was near the bar, so my mother requested that we sit upstairs so that we could have some time to chat, not being able to see each other very much. Their second floor was full, but they were extremely accommodating and sat us on the 3rd floor, which was otherwise empty. I felt guilty making them make that change, but the server was great and we loved having the private spot. Rather than choosing a signature cocktail from the menu, my mother told him what flavors she enjoys and he mixed up something special just for her. And she loved it! I had the Cat’s Domain and also loved it. Having just visited a steakhouse the night before, I opted for the short rib and mom had the chicken. Both were pretty good, and paired with well thought out accompaniments. The service was great enough to mention twice; wish I had caught the server’s name to mention him here. I’ve visited a few restaurants partnering with the Indigo Road restaurant group, in Alpharetta, GA, and Florence, SC, and they never disappoint!

My wife & I tried Oak 20 Feb 16 for our 15th anniversary, excited to try something new. Fantastic! Service was outstanding. For aps we had the carpaccio & oysters Rockefeller. carpaccio was solid, oysters spectacular! Could make a meal of those. My wife had the house salad, I skipped knowing what I had coming later. She loved the salad & I took a bite. Delicious! Main course I had the dry aged 24oz bone in ribeye with grilled shrimp. Couldn’t have been happier. Ordered steak med rare, perfect. Shrimp delicious. Wife got 12oz fillet & jumbo lump crab cake, & we had whipped potatoes as a side. She ordered fillet rare, & although great to me, could’ve been bluer in center. Appeared closer to med rare. Only ding I had was crab cake not moist enough, could’ve used a little more fat, as bad as that sounds. & the potatoes were heavenly. Wine list was impressive, and we tried 2 different bottles & both loved. Pinot noir for her, merlot for me. I was outta gas for desert, but my wife loved the s’mores cheesecake. She had leftovers, I didn’t, lol. My 1st review, I’d like to give 4.75, not sure it’s an option. Expensive, but great to spoil yourself. The ribeye I ordered appears to have been held in advance. Not currently on website menu, but was listed as reserved menu option when I made reservations.

Oak is a nice spot right off of Broad St in downtown. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer selection was decent. The menu was pretty diverse and the servings were a good size. It’s hard for me to be impartial to Hall’s Chophouse since that is my favorite restaurant in Charleston, but Oak was very good. The sides are family portions for sharing and the steaks are very good. I definitely recommend Oak to anyone looking to mix it up downtown.

Whenever restaurant week rolls around Oak is always one of the places we make sure to hit. Their wait staff is very helpful and gave us some great suggestions for wine and appetizers. We started off with the Carpaccio of Beef and the Oyster Rockfeller. Both were great, but the oysters were crazy good and Im not even an oyster person… Their restaurant week menu doesn’t cut any corners and offers three courses for $ 45. We decided on lobster bisque of the first course and couldn’t have been any more impressed. For the main course I had the tile fish and Abbie went with the filet mignon. I had never tried tile fish, but immediately became a fan. I was told the filet was awesome, but it was gone before I could steal a bite. For dessert we both went with the flourless chocolate cake. It was served warm and had more brownie like consistency than cake. Everything was GREAT. You can’t beat the food and atmosphere at Oak. Although it’s a bit pricey don’t let that be the reason you pass this place up. Their daily happy hour(5−7pm) has a bunch of options for less than $ 20. Definitely worth checking out.

The fact that this restaurant doesn’t get FIVE starts from everyone that has reviewed it simple frustrates me. This was my first visit to OAK and I have never seen a wait staff work as hard as these people do. The service was hands down the best I have received while I’ve been in South Caroline. My Filet was absolutely perfect. I could have cut it with a butter knife and the taste was incredible. I done out a lot. I entertain a lot. Manhattan, Chicago, Atlanta and LA. OAK can hang with any of them. If you want to experience what I have experienced ask for Brian. His presentation was flawless and his service was perfect. He had a great knowledge of wines and entrée. Not one complaint about this place. I’ll be back every time I am in the area. FIVESTARS!!!

The absolute best filet mignon I have ever had. I didn’t know it could be so good! It was served with a side a spinach, which was prepared perfectly. I love spinach, and it kept the taste(some places put too much cream, butter, etc) and wasn’t slimy or mushy. The mashed potatoes were prepared and presented nicely. The three foods fit together wonderfully. We got a dessert, but in a box to go. I wanted to leave with the taste of their steak on my memory.

My friend and I went in here late at about 9:30 on Saturday night, last day of Restaurant Week. While that could have been a recipe for disaster, it was a wonderful meal with good service(we sat at the bar). I was happy to see Oak had steak on their Restaurant Week menu(we originally went to another Charleston steakhouse who didn’t have steak on their RW menu and were pretty bummed). Anyway, I started with the salad, which way good, not swimming in dressing, with a handful of veggies and hard boiled egg on top. For the main course, we both ordered the filet mignon, medium. Oh. My. Gosh. It was SO good. It was like butter, so soft, melt in your mouth good, with just the right outside spice. While it came with some kind of homemade steak sauce, I don’t know why you would ever use it, it’s certainly not needed. Why desecrate something so good?! I mean… if I was rich I would eat here on a weekly basis for sure and get the steak, I will be thinking about it on a regular basis! The mashed potatoes and the spinach were done very well and the plate was simple but beautiful. We got the dessert to go because we were full. We opened these up the next morning for breakfast. It was a small slice of brownie with some kind of topping and a sliver of peanut brittle on top. Not bad, but nothing noteworthy compared to the steak the night before. The service at the bar was also friendly and interacted with us(which is nice because we weren’t dressed as fancy as a lot of people, we really didn’t anticpate going to a steak house when we left that afternoon). Either way, nice people, really good food, and a warm, masculine environment.

Great experience! My husband and I had been wanting to try Oak for a while, but as it’s a little pricier, we decided to wait until Restaurant Week to give it a go. We were seated on the second level right next to the railing with a view of the seating area below and the street through the large open windows. I loved the atmosphere right away! The food was even better than anticipated — they started us off with a side salad(SO good — can’t even describe the dressing, but it was creamy and fantastic), followed by a filet mignon served with whipped potatoes and greens. It drives me nuts when I order a steak medium and it comes out medium well, but the filet was cooked perfectly, and the potatoes complimented it perfectly. Finally, for dessert we were served a chocolate flourless cake topped with a piece of peanut brittle. It was very rich, but so delicious! Great service, amazing food… wish we could afford to eat here often!

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous Premier Steakhouse that I visited Thanksgiving Night. Its definitely one of those restaurants that one would go for a special evening with friends or family. It’s expensive, however the food, ambiance service are just impeccable. It’s a big place but feels very intimate. It has 3 floors. We sat just away from the bar near the door. It has half circle booths & regular tables. Our dinner was phenomenal. I had the Thanksgiving dinner & my son had the dry aged bone in ribeye. It was the one of the best steaks he ever had. The side dishes we chose were spinach & mashed potatoes. They have a fantastic selection of wines & champagnes along with spirits. They also have valet parking. Good to know on Broad Street. Our server was Matthew. He was fantastic, helpful knowledgeable prompt & anticipated our every need. I really loved everything about this dining experience. As I said expensive but worth every last penny. GO, you won’t regret it

WOW! This place was as good as it gets. First off our waiter Oliver was a lot of fun and made our time here memorable. He had a great sense of humor and was very personable, something I highly enjoy, but hard to find sometimes at an upscale steakhouse. For an appetizer we the king crab, which was amazing, My wife and I both got filets which were so tender you could slice with a fork. My wife order hers medium, but it came out on the rare side and they promptly threw it back on the grill for a couple of minutes and ensured our experience was not tarnished(it wasn’t!). I would also HIGHLY recommend getting the lobster mac n cheese as a side(WOW stuff was good). The wine/bourbon list was long and the ambience was just right for a special occasion. Get down to Oak if you are looking for some great food and a great time.

Oak was just as good as I had anticipated that it would be after all of the rave reviews that I have heard over the years. My son is at College of Charleston so we took him and his roommate to Oak on parent’s weekend and they just loved it. Boy, can 20-something young men eat some steak! Heading back again this year during parent’s weekend at The Citadel with my daughter. I also understand that they have vegetarian options for my other daughter and I will report back about those in my next review.

A friend and I were visiting Charleston and while walking the old town we came across the Oak Steakhouse. I do not eat steak but i did have there fish and it was really really good. They ordered the steak and said it was well prepared and tasted great; it had a large side of fries! The server was very knowledgable and friendly and educated us on prep of there wet/dry steaks and also made great recommendations. Great meal and place to visit while in town.

Wow. What an exciting adventure. The inside of the restaurant is huge yet feels intimate. The view from the balcony is simply amazing. It is very clean inside and kept nice and cool despite the humidity outside. I’m very happy to have had this dining experience. I started with a salad that had Gorgonzola cheese and it was delish. I had a peach cocktail made with rum that was worth driving back for! My hanger steak was very well-prepared and the side of mushrooms and Mac and Cheese were equally yummy. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. We really enjoyed our experience. The price was a bit more than I feel like it should be, but it is all about the location! If you’re looking for a great steak, THIS is the place to check out if you find yourself in Charleston, SC. Happy eating.

Frequented by South of Broaders and visitors alike as one of Charleston’s most premier steakhouses, Oak has impeccable service, an impressive wine list and a solid menu mostly centered around beef and seafood. While definitely on the expensive side, Oak’s 8 oz. Filet($ 41) and 14 oz. New York Strip($ 53) are great options if you are seeking a go-big-or-go-home steak dinner out. Their Oak Burger w. fontina cheese and grilled onions on a brioche bun is pretty amazing, served with a side of truffle fries for $ 18. If you are not a meat-eater, the menu has plenty of seafood options as well as salads to choose from. What I love most about Oak are their family-style sides to share with the table, all priced at around $ 7 – 10, such as their Bacon Mac & Cheese, Roasted Three Cheese Cauliflower and my favorite Brussels Sprouts w. shallots and bacon. If you are looking to spurge on a meal out and are craving red meat, Oak is a great option when dining as a couple or with a group. Must-order items: Oak burger 8 oz. Filet Bacon Mac & Cheese side Brussels Sprouts side

Ok look I know this one of the Best steakhouses in town. It’s one the reasons why I went. I finally came and was super disappointed. Don’t get me wrong it’s wasn’t necessarily the place. The service was awesome. It was the food. I am not complaining because of the price because I’m cheap. I am not cheap BUT the prices they charge are not worth the QUALITY of the food. I was told by the waiter what I ordered was one of the best steaks on the menu. My steak was Marbled with fat as it was a Ribeye however. It was a 16oz steak. What I got was a 8oz steak since the rest was FAT! Then I picked at a my steak and put the fat aside. When they boxed up my food they mixed all that fat I cut off in my food so it was mixed in my cream spinach leftovers. I unfortunately will not be back. I am super disappointed.

WOWWOWWOW. This place. Okay, I came here during a «Charleston Food Tour» that my awesome friend organized for my bachelorette party. This was our first stop, and we had appetizers and drinks, so this review is for service, atmosphere, appetizers and drinks. The couple next to me, dressed to the nines, was obviously celebrating an anniversary as they murmured to each other with a bottle of champagne perfectly served and placed in a silver chiller on the white linen table cloth. I walked in wearing a T-rex hat and a hot pink bachelorette sash, sundrenched from a day at the beach, three drinks in and hungry as hell. Our server didn’t bat an eye. I wish I could remember his name. From the hostess to the server to the food runner to the amazing manager that stopped by our table and chatted for a full ten minutes — the service was impeccable. I couldn’t imagine a better experience. We were welcomed, embraced and taken care of to the full extent. We order a LOT of drinks — prosecco, full wine bottles, craft cocktails and beers. We ordered the majority of the small plates menu and split it 87 different ways(which our server nailed with no mistakes at all) between 6 girls. The food blew my mind. I can’t wait until the day I return to actually order steaks at this steakhouse! We had steak tartare, charcuterie plates with cheese parings, shrimp cocktail and oysters Rockefeller. I could have died happy after all that — everything was delicious, amazing, perfect. I’m scheming right now on how I can get back there — this will forever be my first stop in Charleston. I’m coming for you Oak Steakhouse! Please just take my money.
