They forgot my order. Then they got it wrong. Second visit and not impressed. Coffee was so so.

Unreliable! I have been to this place about 7 times. Three of the seven times I left without coffee. One of the times the expresso machine was not working and the other two times they had no ice(the ice machine was not working). If you have an unreliable ice machine… repair or replace it! In the interim buy a bag of ice! The iced latte at this place is great when they can get it together and serve you one. But seriously I cannot continue to make a trip to get coffee and be turned away. I don’t understand why they struggle so much. I have thought about calling ahead each time to see if they are able to provide coffee on that particular day at that particular time… but then I thought how ridiculous it is that a customer would have to go through such effort. Instead I will just visit another more reliable coffee house.

Great to see another coffee shop popping up in my hometown! I had a great conversation on their patio with a good friend and a tasty scone!

I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon, and on my way back through West Virginia the following Sunday afternoon. Macchiato was Heartmender blend from Commonplace in Pittsburgh. Too dark for my preference, but beautifully presented. Very modern-looking. Small, and busy, busy. Almost a fast-food feel to the place. But watch the Alpha Dominche! Whoa. Steampunk. Options were Kenya, El Salvador, and Ethiopia. I asked for the lightest roast. One of the three most flavorful cups of coffee I’ve had. Ethiopia Yirgacheffe. Virtual blueberry patch fading into orange grove. Cappuccino with local glass-jarred milk from Homestead Creamery in Bluefield. Such a surprise to find good coffee in West Virginia.

I don’t know how you couldn’t like this coffee shop… the coffee is amazing! Always worth a stop, I only wish they opened a little earlier so I could get my fix early as well. However, I also love that they’re open later. I love the white chocolate mocha so much that I have yet to try much else!

Full-disclosure — this shop is owned and operated by my cousin. That being said, I’m kind of mad at him because now I’m addicted to the Milk and Honey coffee drink, and I just don’t get there as often as I want to. It’s so good, though! I want to order different things when I go there, but if I ordered something else, I wouldn’t get the Milk and Honey coffee drink. So that’s what I get. I could always get something else, after I drink the first, but I usually only go in the evening and two coffee drinks means no sleep for me. My husband had the Ethiopian coffee and liked it so much he got a second. It smelled really good. My daughter loves the baked goods and hot cocoa. It’s not your Swiss Miss cocoa… it’s made with real chocolate shaved right into the steamed milk. It’s pretty much a cup of happiness, made right there while you watch. The baked goods are usually just about gone by the time we get there, but what they have is so good. I love the biscotti. It’s really good biscotti and they rotate their stock with different flavors.

Was disappointed with lattes and the cookie we got. The brown sugar latte tasted like straight molasses and the cookie, while it had a great texture, tasted like cardboard. Won’t be going back.

So… driving through the middle of nowhere and came across an awesome coffee shop. The barista studied at UCLA, which is awesome since I’m from LA. She told me about the coffee scene in WV, which is non-existent except for Moxxee. They have definitely cornered the market, which usually means a company will offer mediocre coffee. Not Moxxee. Everything about this place rocked. It definitely doesn’t fit into the area(it’s a really cool, hipster place), but it definitely stands out as a top tier coffee shop in the U.S.

Moxxee Coffee has a great environment inside and outside. The coffee bar has a modern look. The custom drinks they have are really good.

Again, not only do the ladies have resting bitch face but the guys do too! And for the love of God, how do you call yourself a Barista and have no idea what a double shot ran short is? Its okay, I’ll wait… Also, it is very dirty. Filthy behind the espresso machine and the shelves are horrific. That’ll be all today. ;)

Best coffee place in Charleston. Chic atmosphere, interesting selection of brews and preparation methods, and nice baked goods as well. Free parking too. Would probably be nothing unusual in a larger city but for here it is unique and great.

Absolutely the best coffee I’ve had(outside Seattle city limits). If you even remotely enjoy anything at all about coffee, then do not miss this place.

Great coffee in West Virginia. Good, clean, chill, comfortable place. Rivals other places in large metropolitan areas. Keep it 100.

I’m so glad we stopped in. Once again Unilocal reviews led me to a great place! So I need to chime in and concur. I really enjoyed the design of the space and all the little details that contribute to the ambiance. They have some delicious treats and really solid, quality coffee that just makes you so frustrated with the typical options you find at most other places.

I haven’t been back in a couple years, even though I used to go fairly regularly because it was the only real option available in that area when we would make trips to Charleston. Several times the lady behind the register did not seem to care one way or another that we were even there. Her incredible indifference came across rude. Mind you, the coffee is actually pretty freaking good. I am not complaining about the quality of it at all. I really like the art and the atmosphere. They put a lot of careful thought in when designing this place. It’s gorgeous. I do wish that they had a list, somewhere, of the current flavor shots that you can get. Consumers generally like clearly defined steps, and ordering can seem a bit confusing. The menu explains how each drink is made, but what they leave out is that the drinks can be flavored. Unfortunately the menu also leaves out the palate differences in each drink. It is one thing to show how a traditional Italian cappuccino is made and how a latte is made, it is something completely different to actually describe the varying sensations between them.

The espresso was really good. Two shots two days in a row and they nailed consistency! Capp was good, their milk is obviously high quality. Disappointed in the americano. They clearly pulled a shot and dumped it into hot water. What I would have given for them to pull it straight over the hot water, the espresso shot was just screaming to have the americano made that way. Baristas were skilled, but hardly the friendliest. I was definitely ready for coffee talk, especially in light of their beautiful Synesso they have! But they were totally engaged with each other and ready to get me out the door. I was also curious why one shot pulled for 40 seconds and another for 25? They must have several beans/blends they are using for espresso. I was pleasantly surprised to find good coffee in charleston. Way to go Moxxee!

Amazing coffee! Although I’m not a local, I think I more than make up for it by coming here at least 8 times in the past 2 weeks. Love both the Tanzania and Ethiopia roasts, but there’s not really a wrong order here. I wish I were more of a coffee connoisseur so I could go into detail about how different this coffee is from other places(and how subpar Starbucks and the like are after coming here), but unfortunately I lack the adjectives and the experience to do so. One thing I can say for a fact: that their coffee machine(Alpha Dominche Steampunk) is top-of-the-line and one of the most expensive pieces of equipment of caffeine-related equipment in the country. So at the very least, you can be at peace knowing that you got your money’s worth since your coffee was made using a $ 15,000 machine.

Okay I have to admit that I don’t know anything about coffee(I apologize in advance) other than I like it, so this is more of a review for people who are as uninformed as I. Also I should have gotten tea here because I am a bit of a tea snob but I was in the mood for coffee. First of all, this place is really cool. It’s trendy, it looks trendy, there are trendy people here. They have so many options I didn’t know where to start so I just asked to girl for a dark roast coffee. They make it all fresh of course and I could see they had little French presses(or whatever those are called) and I’ve read other reviews stating that they have top-of-the-line equipment. Anyhow I ordered a chocolate covered macaroon and a medium dark roast coffee. My total was $ 5.50. Macaroon $ 2.60, Brazil Sao Francisco coffee $ 2.90. I don’t know if they really even have sizes… I don’t think these prices are awful as you get a good sized mug of coffee and the macaroon was delicious. They have electric kettles, ceramic and cast iron tea kettles for sale as well as mugs and individual packets of loose leaf tea. All the tea is loose leaf, and I spied on some other people who had ordered some. It was served on a tray with a clear glass mug, a tea steeper(the kind you can get from Teavana that you sit on top of the cup and it strains the tea into your cup), and what looked to be a timer. Awesome! The place was pretty busy but most of the people had already been served and were at the various tables and bars. It’s small inside but wasn’t too cramped. There were mostly younger college kids which I liked. Well I’m finishing my coffee and as I said I don’t know much about it but it was strong and tasty and I’m noticing a lot of dark settling in the bottom. I’ll let you coffee people decide what this means. I give this place 5 stars, possibly because I Don’t know any better but mostly because I am now in love with it. The atmosphere is great and I like the coffee and treats so far! I plan to explore their coffee further and hang out here more often!
