Elegance Cleaners

They are very harsh (or something) when cleaning clothes, so my clothes often come back a little shrunk and stretched out. I have had 3 pairs of pants either shrunk or with the waistband ruined. Even after mentioning it the first time I noticed this problem, nothing changed. They are a bit overpriced, which I wouldn’t have minded if they were good (although they wanted to charge $ 20 to fix a tiny hole in a seam in a shirt – that mark-​up was appalling to me).

I have been using this dry cleaner for 4 years. Recently a part of garment was lost, but I decided to give them one more shot. When I returned to pick up my items, I was told that one item was not ready after I had paid in full. I returned a second time to pick up the item more than a week after I had originally dropped it off. I was informed that the garment was still not ready, despite it being more than 24 hours after I was told it would be ready. When I asked for a refund, the cashier made a phone call and put me on the phone without any explanation. The man (who I later learned was the owner) began to yell at me, used disparaging language, and insulted me and my clothing. I hung up. He proceeded to call back and yell at the staff. I refused to take the phone and the staff placed him on speaker phone. He continued to yell at me and deny my refund. I hung up. He called back and continued with other customers in the store. This continued for more than 30 minutes until I left without a refund and without my garment. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I’m pretty picky about my dry cleaners, but Elegance does a great job. My clothes always look great and the staff is friendly and professional. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it’s a tad pricey, but a good choice if you are looking for a place to trust with nicer items.

The people at Elegance Cleaners are friendly and extremely helpful. I have taken a number of difficult pieces to them (a pleated chiffon skirt, very delicate tops, etc), and they have cleaned them beautifully. I have also had them sew some torn clothes, and they did that perfectly as well.
A dress I got cleaned there came back a little smaller, and when I told them about it, they took the dress back and were able to stretch it back to its original size. Free of charge, of course. I’m very glad to have found some cleaners/​seamstresses that I think are truly great!

This place did a really good job, had a fast turnaround, and most importantly, they were very friendly! Definitely the best place in Chapel Hill for dry cleaning.

While a little on the pricey side, they never disappoint. Items have always been well cleaned and pressed. They have a good tracking system and reasonable pick-​up times (w/​i 2 days)
