The reviews are ALL true! Went in to talk about all the amazing cabinet refinishing paints people rave about online. But the 2 people there who I know saw me just COMPLETELY ignored me for an awkward 5 – 10 minutes as I stared at colors. Wandered the store not seeing what I came looking for but wasn’t about to dare interrupt the staff with my needs so I left and drove not 100 yards across the parking lot to Lowes! Forget these people.

I’ve been there a few times and haven’t had the problems everyone else has. Customer service hasn’t been amazing, but not bad either. My biggest problem is that I suck at finding paint colors. There are a couple of consultants; I like one of the ladies’ taste better than the other. So when the one I didn’t like as much found colors I didn’t like, I had to come back another day. Sometimes they are just too busy to help, too.

This store is really hit or miss and ultimately I’m frustrated. 1) Depending on who is behind the counter the service is either terrible or great. There’s no in-between. 2) They sell their Benjamin Moore paint samples in C2 test pots — this means they cost twice as much($ 12 vs $ 6) AND the color is not the same as what you’ll get when you actually buy Benjamin Moore gallons. I ordered a test pot of Benjamin Moore gray owl and loved it — but when I ordered 3 gallons it was a completely different color. I had to bring it back in to be adjusted. They were helpful, but couldn’t get it to match the sample pot they’d given me so ultimately I had to buy 3 new gallons of Gray Owl in C2 paint so that it’d match the sample they sold me. Bottom line, save yourself the extra cost and hassle and go to Vienna Paint of Fairfax to get actual Benjamin Moore samples.

The quality of BM paints can’t be beat. I knew what colors I wanted & didn’t speak with the consultant but the person at the counter was very helpful. He took the time to answer a lot of questions and helped carry the paint to the car.

The low review is on customer service alone. If the paints weren’t so good, I would put a 1 star down. Worst customer service of any Benjamin Moore paint store I’ve been too. The sales lady or ‘consultant’ stood in my personal space while talking to me and felt she needed to give me her personal political opinion about the furlough, even going as far are saying I should not be paid back for the time I’ve been in the forced furlough. She stated a few other opinions, not picking up that I totally didn’t agree with her. She kept on stepping into my personal space while talking(as if to make a point to her political views), causing me to slowly start walking backwards away from her while she kept on nudging closer and closer. Completely uncomfortable. When she picked up that I was not of the same political opinion she went off for lunch and told me to talk with the guy behind the counter for paint. The guy behind the counter. I’m pretty sure I cannot type the words here. I should have walked about and went to another Benjamin Moore store(the one in Herndon is awesome for customer service). He acted like I was wasting him time. He was gruff, sighed a lot, and didn’t like that I only ordered 3 colors of paint. Oh, it doesn’t end there. When he was done, I paid. They have one of those electronic sign pads for the credit cards. I wasn’t even done signing my first name when he hit the key to send it off. I stopped and looked at him and stated ‘I wasn’t done signing my name!’. He retorted ‘it’s done’. I stated again ‘I did not get to sign my name. I barely finished signing my first name’. He stated to me again ‘I don’t see what the deal is, it’s done. Visa will take it, you can take it up with them. It’s done’. He gave me my receipt and walked into the back without saying anything else. No offering to help me carry the paint to the car, or at least opening the door for me while I hefted it out. The other Benjamin Moore stores I’ve been to were great on customer service for helping you take your purchases out of the store. I’ve been in this store at least four times. This is the first time I purchased from this store. The first three time I couldn’t find anyone to help me. Yes, that’s right, the first three times I couldn’t find anyone in the store front area. I basically took what color swatches I was considering, looked around, didn’t see anyone to help me, and walked out. That’s when I decided to head to the Herndon store. I wish I went back to the Herndon store.
