I LOVE Takara! The sushi is great & always fresh. The owner is awesome & the staff is great. Service is always wonderful. We love to go once a week for Girls Happy Hour. Their HH menu is FABULOUS! My hubby & I love to go on Friday or Saturday for date night. The atmosphere is amazing & the Jazz music is a nice touch for our date night.

I love the Mandarin Chicken and Hot and Sour soup. If you go at lunchtime you get a soup and salad with the meal. Very good food and deal.

Don’t come in a Friday night. An hour wait for a table then another hour for the food. I like the food but overall this place sucks.

Looking for sushi in Cedar Park?!? This place was amazing! We usually go here 2 – 3 times a month. Such a great atmosphere and love the jazz band that plays on the weekends. The hottie kimono and red devil roll are delicious and the raspberry sakitini is my favorite drink I have had anywhere. One of the owners Alex always makes it a point to be present and say hello. It means a lot that they care about your experience. Check it out!

Great atmosphere for a casually lunch or romantic dinner. Very good sushi and sashimi– gorgeous fish! Definitely recommended for the sushi inclined and our non-sushi eating members of our dining party loved their cooked dish.

We’ve eaten here twice — once a to go order and dined in once. I enjoyed the orange chicken both times. I was excited to find out that they serve lots of other food in addition to the extensive sushi list(I don’t like sushi). Next up I think I want to try some of their appetizers and drinks at happy hour!

Ordered my food to go at the bar, bartender helped me immediately. Food took a bit long(I was there 30 min for to go order) but other than that very good gluten free menu and food was amazing. Everything I ate was incredible. Will be back!

I Love this restaurant. My husband and I frequent this place. When we get a chance to relax, Takara is our first choice especially on Fridays and Saturdays when there is a band playing. But out of the many visits we have had here, yesterday was the best. We brought our parents from out of town along with us and Linda, one of their top staff and Alex the owner, made my parents experience so special. Aside from an awesome and cozy place, They served us great food, outstanding and memorable entertainment, as in they come to your table and spend time with you like family. They all go out of their way to make a difference. Thanks Alex for a job well done, from training your staff well and for keeping the place so adorably exceptional! Keep it up

I love Takara. Atmosphere is great. Food and service are always great. I usually drop $ 150 for 3 people to eat with appetizer and drinks. And they light it on fire every time I ask them, which is pretty sweet! I recommend the Godiva espresso martini and the dynamite spider roll.

Great atmosphere, great music, fantastic food. Sushi rolls were fresh and presented nicely — nice enough that I was able to convince my mother that«hates» sushi, to try it. She ended up liking it enough to get a roll of her own. Well played, Takara. Well played. The best hot and sour soup I’ve had in ages, and the bulgogi and chicken katsu were both incredibly flavorful. We finished with the ginger crème brulèe. It was fantastically creamy and smooth. The wait staff is very friendly and happy to explain the menu. Highly recommended.

The food was pretty good. However, an employee brought his(non-service) dog into the restaurant, and proceeded to take the dog into the kitchen, where it was petted and fed by staff. We watched our server pet the dog, and then he immediately came out of the kitchen to handle our glasses for tea refills. That’s right — he did not wash his hands. Needless to say, I contacted the health department.

Bam! I found a great sushi place in Cedar Park, of all places. Go figure. It’s apparently run by an all Japanese family, best I can tell. Very high end and upscale dining experience here, nice fixtures and art on walls. This is gourmet sushi and Japanese food, very impressed. Good prices, too. The sushi rolls were fantastic, amazing combinations — I had some kind of spicy tuna with jalapeño roll, and it was good, exceptional actually. I can’t wait to go back. Big thumbs up!

Delicious sushi and drinks. Great atmosphere with a live jazz band playing. Service was good. I love the sushi presentation on the plate. I keep forgetting to take a picture of the sushi I order. Next time I’ll remember. Will definitely be back when I am around the area to try other items. They have more then just sushi. There are also Korean dishes as well.

This food here is really good, and I mean really, really good. So why the 3 stars instead of 5? Well, that’s for the service. Let me begin… I came here with my husband and another couple we are very close with after seeing a movie next door. I’ll first start by saying that we are not a waiter/waitresses ideal customer, my friend has many food sensitivities including a high sensitivity to soy, and I keep a low carb diet. Before ordering anything we made sure our waitress knew this. Our waitressed informed my friend that most items can be made«plain» without soy and she was going to check to see if they can make cucumber wrapped rolls without rice for me. We put in our drink order and off she went! She came back later with waters, but none of our drinks(no biggie) and asked if we were ready to order. I asked again if she checked about the no rice on the rolls, and she had forgot. Off she went! She came back with a couple options for me, which was great — I placed my order. They had a wonderful sashimi special that my food sensitive friend ordered, along with a veggie app again making sure she said no soy. And our guys ordered straight off the menu. Great! No problem. Lots of time goes by and we still dont have our drinks. My husband asked for them, and we realize she had forgot to place the order. Eventually, we get our drinks, just in time for our appetizers to come out. Well, the veggie app was covered in soy sauce. We didn’t want to complain, so the rest of us shared it. Next, came our meals. My friend who wasn’t able to eat the app she ordered had her really large sashimi plate placed in front of her. It was a beautiful presentation! ANDCOVEREDINSOY! She politely told the waitress she needed for them to re-do it since she was allergic, and the waitress said«this is our last one» without any apology! My friend again sat there with no food! I asked for spicy mayo(which she forgot to bring out with my food) and we also ordered another round of drinks, which again took wayyyy longer than it should! After this, our waitress avoided us at all costs, which meant I most definitely wasn’t getting my spicy mayo! I think the manager noticed my friends disappointment and he came over not to apologize, which was nice, and he said«don’t worry, we all enjoyed eating it out back!» Who says that to the customer who was left with no meal! We were shocked that they didn’t comp anything at all on the bill. All in all, the rest of our food was great, and we’ll definitely give them a chance to redeem themselves, but I don’t think my friends will ever be back!

Food = phenomenal. Wine list = spectacular. Service = out of this world(thanks, Collin!). Management was visible throughout the night and it’s obvious that the owner, Alex, is 100% invested in his business! We cannot wait to come back and enjoy another date night here :) great experience!!!

So Takara Sushi is a really nice upscale adult place. I have been there several times, and have always enjoyed it! Great date place! Please note It is definitely an adult place that I would not bring my kids to unless they can and will sit still and silent. Really. Even at lunch Takara is dimly lit and romantic. There are candles on all the tables. It is quiet and kind of soothing. When busy the chatter is obviously not as quiet but its also not obnoxious — just kind of a hum. If full sun is what you crave there is a patio area which is nice as well, but not so soothing and quiet. Along the not-so quiet lines they feature live music Friday and Saturday nights too. The lunch menu is great! On my most recent visit my friend and I ordered a lunch dish each — the ‘maki trio’ –and had waaaaay more food then anticipated. Very lovely quality too. No negatives. Just remember it is an adult kind of place. Great for dates. Romantic — and by the movie theater too so especially convenient.

This place is great! The Spying Ninja roll is SOOOOGOOD! The other rolls are good and super fresh too, but the Spying Ninja is my favorite. The sushi is fresh and as good as I’ve had anywhere else in downtown Austin. You will spend a good amount, but the quality is definitely worth it. However, $ 25 for two martinis is a little high. I mean, they certainly aren’t any larger or better than else where that sells them for a more reasonable price. I come here a lot, but most recently last weekend for a girls night out. They had a great band(a lady who sang bluesy songs). I come here sometimes with my family on weeknights in the summer for the great happy hour prices and then see a movie — the theater is right next door. I can’s say enough good things about the food here.

After a girls weekend of indulging in delicious unhealthy food, I was in need of some vegetables today for lunch. I had planned to go elsewhere but found out they were closed on Mondays. That’s when I remembered here which I have driven by numerous times while shopping in Cedar Park. The outside doesn’t look like much, so I was surprised to walk in and find such a chic dining area. For my meal, I chose the Maki-Tango lunch special which comes with two rolls(You pick from these: Salmon, Tuna, California, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Philadelhpia, Avocado, Cucumber or Crunch) and a cup of soup for $ 10. I got the miso soup to start and it was very good. For my rolls I chose an avocado and the crunch. Typically the crunch is a crab and avocado roll topped with panko flakes. I’m not a big crab person unless it is super fresh so I asked if I could have that one made with shrimp instead. They did it for me without issue, but there was a $ 1 up charge which wasn’t a big deal. My husband got the combination fried rice off the lunch menu($ 10) and a crunch roll as well, but he got his the normal way with crab. He enjoyed the fried rice a lot and we both thought the sushi was good, but not the type of quality to match the high price tag. They seem to have a lot of happy hour deals though which might be fun to come back for, especially on a night they have live music. To me this seems like more of a place to come have a drink with friends and be happily surprised to see sushi rolls on the happy hour menu, as opposed to specifically coming here when a sushi craving hits.

We often come around to this area and have always wondered why we don’t eat at Takara. The last time was about 2 years ago. This looks like a place to be seen — elegant space, beautiful looking food, a large bar. If you are only looking for ambience, this place would be one of the few at the top. The food, however, leaves much to be desired. Tarkara is catering to people who like to get Texas sized portions of overly sweetened and under seasoned food. You really feel like you are getting a good deal, especially at a sushi place. Having glanced over and seeing the mushy rice falling off of the roll of the table next to us, we decided to against it. We ordered a couple of appetizers, bibimbap, and a sashimi plate. The sunomono was mostly cucumbers and the ponzu sauce was very mild, too mild, making the dish boring. There is an art to cutting fish and the sashimi pieces here, although large, were the sloppiest cuts I’ve seen in any sushi restaurant. Aside from the aesthetics, the fish is very bland. A little bit of aging brings out the flavors, but there is a fine line before the fish spoils, hence the price of this food. The fish literally tastes like it came from the freezer, not spoiled, but tasteless. If you don’t like fish, you will like the sushi here. The bibimbap was probably the best, although very sweet and again, bland for what the dish should be. There are much better options for both Korean food and sushi in Cedar Park.
