Love this place was going here before it became Dave’s. Always great customer survive. The gumbo is good, but my favorite dish is the seafood enchiladas, and close behind steam platters! So good.

Loved it as always! Can’t wait to see what David has in store at Taste Of Cedar Hill… He was working on that… But he and his staff never disappoint. We have never had a bad meal here. The Wild Atlantic Mahi grilled with shrimp AND garlic green beans was excellent! Thank you to our great server Dawn!

This place is classy yet tasty and affordable. Seriously, this is the most underrated seafood restaurant in DFW. The Yucatan Shrimp Cocktail is the best, with a salsa that has just the right amount of kick. I also enjoyed the La Bomba peppers that are out if this world. You also have to try the stuffed fish. Seriously, you can’t go wrong here. It’s a busy place but the staff is friendly and helpful. This is a greet place for date night, happy hour or just a good meal.

Tues night 12÷29÷15 arrived approx 1910 hrs CST seated approx 1950 hrs. Interesting point we we’re seated at a table that was open upon our arrival. I did not see either David or the other Mgr that I recognized. Lots of tables open with lots of patrons waiting. Doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe understaffed or Tues nights usually slow so minimal staff required. This is a holiday week so I’ll give David’s the benefit of the doubt. My wife ordered the usual catfish with vegetables sans fries along with a salad. I ordered the fresh Mahi tuna off the board. Salad came out 1st then immediately the entres. No time to eat the salad first. Food came out hot as usual. Food was tasty as usual and potion size was adequate. Wait staff was marginally attentive. I have to admit this was not out best experience at David’s. I’m not sure if it was because David was not here or it was a Tues night or it was a holiday week. In any case tonight was not what we typically experience. Hope this is not what David’s is becoming.

A great seafood place in Cedar hill. The Ahi tuna salad is awesome. The gumbo is really good. David is also carrying Deep Ellum Dallas Blonde a great local brew hopefully he will start carrying more locals.

terrible service, if you two have time to sit there and chit chat instead of helping, let alone acknowledging a customer on a slow night, you’ve obviously got way too much money. I left immediately. I travel all over the country every other 10 days and this place was recommended to me so I took time out of my schedule to come eat here. Big mistake, AVOID this place unless you’re just looking for a seat to sit in.

First time here. Hands down the best in the area. Seafood done right. I had the Stuffed Fish, which was full of flavor. My wife had the Tilapia Creole which was also great. Good service as well. The Manager, Raymond came by to greet us. We complemented him on our dining experience. Not fine dining, but it was very good New Orleans style cooking. Looking forward to visiting for Happy Hour.

I was a little Leary to try David’s after Rockfish left. So it took a long time, I love seafood but don’t care for Red Lobster… well I’m lying I love their biscuits. And Pappadeax’s is so noisy no point in trying to have a conversation. But David’s delighted us. We all ordered something different so we could taste test each other’s food, and we were very happy! Great atmosphere and service. We will be back!

Boo the crab cakes were really good until my daughter found an eyelash on her plate. We didnt order anything else. PS $ 40 for crab cakes w/eyelashes &2 glasses of wine. I left but when my daughter finally came to the car she said the owner David spoke to her personally and voided our check. The server was Crystal she was really nice. I hope she doesnt get in trouble for not deleting the charge for the crab cakes & I want her to get the tip I intended when i signed the check. I will have to give them another try.

So I just realized that I haven’t written a review for this amazing place yet. We’ve been coming here for YEARS. The owner, David is almost always here and is extremely friendly. This is our local«happy place». We come here for comfort and always feel welcome(lately a couple times a week). Being regulars we have a favorite waitress, Dawn– we absolutely LOVE her. She is so thoughtful and sincerely asks how we are and what’s going on with us… and she remembers our orders every time. Seriously the kind of person that restores your faith in humanity. Now for the food. OH mY. Let me just say that even though I’m almost completely plant-based at home, I’m a sucker for seafood. Crab is my absolute favorite, and David’s crab cakes are hands down the best I’ve ever had. I get mine with an order of Chardonnay cream sauce. They are absolutely AMAZING. No crappy fillers– just delicious, tender crab meat. I also have to mention that their margaritas are the best I’ve found anywhere in the area. They don’t have that gross chemical mixer flavor or color at all. Anytime I need a margarita– this is the place. Their happy hour specials are awesome… $ 3 margaritas and $ 1.99 peel and eat shrimp. We usually order the taste of David’s. Hubby gets the wraps with grilled chicken(or avacado when we are doing all Veg). The quality of the food is extremely reliable. They are ALWAYS willing to help out to accommodate our dietary requirements(which have changed a lot over the last several years of us coming here). Great staff. Amazing food. I’m personally not fond of the Taxidermy on the walls, but our overall experiences here have been so wonderful we just ignore it now. Honestly, I just can not say enough good things about this place. It’s our favorite place to eat locally. Love, Love, Love.

I’ve been back a few times at the urging of my fiancée. We usually visit after 9. The restaurant is open late. That’s why we decided to go. We were looking for dessert and some wine. Each visit we ordered a bottle of moscato which has some bubbly in it. The bottle was about $ 20. I figure if we have 2 glasses each that is near the cost of the bottle. So we ordered the bottle. We had bread pudding and crème brûlée. It is average tasting. It takes a lot of time to make crème brûlée so it’s worth it. The portion is large. I’ll say we mostly come here now because of the quiet atmosphere. It’s not loud and noisy. The ambiance is right for a couple looking to actually hear each other speak. We sit at a super large booth side by side. That is why we keep returning. The food is a perk to the ambiance. I ignore the antlers and dead animals.

The server was great, she was friendly. We enjoyed her better than the food. The fried green tomatoes were a bit too sweet for my liking. I had the gumbo as an entrée. It was fair for gumbo. I wish I hadn’t found chicken bones in it though. Not sure if I’ll be back in the future.

Three of us went for dinner on Christmas Eve. Had a nice glass of wine at the bar prior to dinner. Loved the restaurant décor. Friendly service. We started with La Bomba appetizers. Very nice stuffed jalapeños with light crispy onion rings and ranch dressing. Very great start. I had the Flounder which I didn’t expect to be fried. It was fishy and I won’t order it again. One friend had the Tilapia with a wonderful creamy seafood sauce. Delicious! Can’t wait to go back and try the Poblano cream soup. Such a great restaurant with nice ambiance and a huge variety on their menu. The prices are very fair and it was nice for the owner to stop by and ask how we were. This was my first visit but it won’t be my last!

I can’t even begin to describe how amazing the food and staff are here… It’s another one of my ten star ratings! The gumbo is INSANE! I could eat 5 bowls. Stuffed flounder, Chilean sea bass, pick anything — it will be amazing! Dessert — WOW!!! I’ve never been disappointed!!! Thank you David!!!

The hostesses should be available when someone comes into the restaurant. Standing in front waiting for too long gives you an unwelcomed feeling. Once we were seated it took the waitress at least 10 – 15 minutes to come to the table. The food was good, but waiting for staff to acknowledge someone’s presence is the one thing that makes me not want to go back.
