I don’t know what they do, but the soup is delicious and the noodles are so chewy. I love it.

My service was awful. Went in and waited 45 minutes for the meal to be still not complete. When asking for a refund I was laughed at and insulted for not wanting to wait any longer. Had to literally reason and force them to refund me. The food looked great but for my awful service I will not return.

The kalguksu(knife noodles) in the Kimchi noodles(#5) are fantastic and my wife really loved them, to the point where she swapped out her own cold noodles(#16 — «sashimi spicy noodles») for my bowl. It’s also a fantastic deal for ~$ 10 per bowl of noodles, and it comes with one or two sides. This place is also in a food court next to two other Korean stalls, so there’s plenty of variety if you’re with someone else who doesn’t feel like eating noodles! This place is closed on Mondays btw.

Okay… so here’s the deal. I think that this might be one of the best Korean restaurants in the Ellicott City-Catonsville area. Yes, the menu selection is quite limited and yes, the atmosphere here leaves a lot to be desired… but this has quickly become my family’s go-to Korean restaurant when we want to eat out. Hang Ari’s main focus is on noodles, specifically kalgooksoo. That literally translates into«knife noodles» since the noodles were traditionally cut into their noodle shape using a knife. While all the kalgooksoo dishes I’ve had were good, my absolute favorite is the chicken one(dak kalgooksoo). There is like a HUGE piece of chicken in there. It is so incredibly tender that you can rip it up with your chopsticks and then either eat it with the noodles or dip it in the included salt bowl and eat it that way. SOGOOD. The kalgooksoo here also has a huge portion size. It’s really one of the best bang for your buck meals. Hang Ari also has a few other dishes. The bul dak(literally«fire chicken») is a very spicy chicken dish that is served with rice. It’s really good but you better be fine with spicy foods. The dumplings here are also very good. My family almost never buys dumplings at restaurants because it’s never up to par with what they feel it’s worth. Not here though. And finally, the hongoh hwe milmyun(yikes, i probably butchered the Romanization of that dish) is a spicy cold noodle dish served with skate wing. This dish is traditionally made with a noodle that is very chewy so if you were looking for a «normal» noodle dish, this probably isn’t it. But it is also very filling and very delicious. Overall, I highly recommend this place. One of my favorites in the Catonsville area.

Excellent spot for noodles — I forgot which one I got but I remember it being served in a large bowl and being very tasty. Then, I added the spicy red paste they provided in a small sauce cup on the side. Ingesting that paste was a HUGE mistake. I normally can’t handle spicy foods and boy oh boy was this paste hot. It wasn’t the kind of hot that hits your tongue-hot, it was the kind of hot that heats your entire body. So I sat there slurping my noodles wondering why I thought it was a good idea to try the paste while beads of sweat were dripping down my head and neck. I remember facing this couple, and maybe it was the red paste talking but I became self-conscious thinking that they were thinking, «what was that guy over there thinking when he tried that red paste? Everyone knows he can’t handle spicy sauces» — 3 cups of water and 5 napkins later, I cooled down and my head was dry. I carried on with shopping at H-mart afterwards.

A new spot in the food court next to H-mart. The food was awesome. The hand drawn, fresh noodles are great. The soups are flavorful. The portions are generous. I liked in particular the #4 spicy seafood noodle. What surprised me was the amount of seafood in an $ 11 bowl of noodles. There were a dozen medium clams, 2 mussels, and half of a small crab. The crab tasted slightly off, so I didn’t end up eating it at the very end of the meal, but I was full anyways. Otherwise the food was great, and almost got a 5. The only thing to keep in mind, is that because the noodles are fresh, there may be a bit of a wait for your food on a busy Sunday afternoon.

I’ve been to Hang Ari Bajirak Kalgooksoo in LA’s Koreatown before and it was great. The opening of another location in Catonsville was exciting and, of course, much welcomed. Located within Hanoori Town in the plaza that houses H Mart, Hang Ari Noodle Company offers kalgooksoo(Korean knife noodles) and mil myun(cold noodles) varieties. I haven’t tried the mil myun yet, but the kalgooksoo is certainly delicious and is on par with those served at Hang Ari’s LA counterpart. The bowls are ginormous. You can probably dunk your whole face into the single portion bowls, and maybe give your dog a bath in the jug that feeds four people. The broths are fantastic and the noodles are hand made(of course). Perfect timing for opening when the weather is getting cold. Will probably be coming back often.
