Jang Won bought out/replaced Hasung in the Hanoori Town food court. I think the menu is generally the same, and the jajangmyun is still its main staple. After trying a few things here, I think I’ll stick with just the jajangmyun or the jjamppong. The other food options aren’t nearly as good. Jang Wong advertises that their noodles are hand made, which is a plus. Sometimes, you can hear them beating the flour and stringing out the noodles.

This place is found in Hanoori Town, located next to the H Mart. Inside Hanoori Town, you will find several restaurants inside located in a fashion similar to a mall’s food court. The second restaurant to the left is Jang Won. While it may not look like much, it does have some really good jja jang myun, a Korean-Chinese noodle dish with a black bean sauce. They make the noodles here by hand so it tastes better than places that make the dish with pre-made noodles. There are several types of jja jang myun here… there is the normal dish(number 28 on the menu if I remember correctly) but there also is the jang ban jja jang, which is a huge platter meant to be shared with a few people. The jang ban jja jang(number 33) also contains a good amount of seafood. For some reason though, the humble normal dish tasted better to me. Jang Won also has other staples of Korean Chinese food including jjamppong(noodles in a spicy seafood broth – number 25), and jjam jja myun, where you get a bowl that has a jja jang myun side and a jjamppong side. Overall, it’s not bad, especially for something inside a food court. I’d give it a 3.5 stars(rounded up to 4).

If the thought of fresh, handmade noodles in your ja jung myun makes you want to drool, then this is the place for you. I went to this restaurant with a group of friends who know the owners, so to our delight, we were able to go into the kitchen and watch them make the noodles — incredible! To the thrill of my mathematician friend, the owner counted all the noodles in binary as they were being formed. The style is Korean Chinese fusion. They do great sweat and sour dishes, and of course, their ja jung myun is their signature dish(I’m not really a fan of ja jung myun, but the rest of my friends said it was the best they’d ever had). Unfortunately, the owners want to retire, so the business will be closing down soon. In otherwords — be quick :-)
