3.5 Stars. Despite being short staffed, service was excellent in this Mi Cocina drone. Plus on getting my sister’s extraordinary requests perfect — a medium rare salmon on a salad, and the tilapia veracruz was also perfect, so maybe they do seafood particularly well. The minuses were many things were too salty, including my crispy beef tacos — dense meat and salty, making me miss what seemed like such a simple but consistent beef taco from mi cocina. Their medium salsa and guacamole were not spicy — the salsa had a good charred limey flavor, but the guac was just devoid of flavor. The margaritas were delish — will probably head to Mi Cocina next time though. Prices are similar to Mi Cocina and they have an outdoor patio to eat and play area for the kids.

Great atmosphere. The iced tea was pretty bland but the amazing food covered for it. The salsa was new to me but I really liked how it was served warm.

Came in for a couple drinks and a bite. Sat at the bar, a ghost town. Had a pretty good margarita so I ordered a second. By the time I was ready to order food and get more salsa, no server/bartender could be seen. Just myself and 1 other bar guest. I finally saw someone and by then I was ready to blow the joint. Could have been good food but I won’t know now! Bummer.

We went with a group of folks, and were nearly alone in there on a Saturday night. The chicken enchiladas were dry to the point of having to take a drink to swallow. My wife had the beef quesadillas and found them to be nearly inedible. Aside from the fact that it was too spicy for her(preference), it was incredible salty. Neither of us could eat them, and taking the leftovers, our 21 yr old wouldn’t eat them either. The rice and beans were good, but the salsa had an odd flavor. The ambiance was way too dark, so much so that we had to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu. Though the service was prompt and attentive, one of the servers kept touching me. Definitely creepy. Not my kind of place. Not sure if we will give it another try, though many of the other reviews are pretty good.

This is by far the BEST Mexican food I have found in the Carrollton area. Everything is so perfectly flavored. I had the avocado enchiladas with charro beans and cilantro lime rice. I don’t even know how to explain how great everything was. From the salsa to the frozen mango margarita that had REAL pieces of mango in it to the the tres leches cake, this place is awesome!

Full disclosure, Mexican food isn’t my favorite. However, on Friday night we decided to try La Vista because they are supporters of the PTA for my child’s elementary school, and that means a lot to us. We have two boys(5&2) and the outside dining was a Godsend. Adjacent to that is a small but awesome play area that is sorely lacking the like in this area. We sat outdoors on the patio as the sun began to set. We were surrounded by other families and their children and all the children played together while the parents sat in relative peace and actually got to have a conversation for once. This was priceless to us. Usually my boys get bored at restaurants which takes all the fun out of it for the rest of us, but we stayed there longer than our meal enjoying the beautiful sunset as our children had a wonderful time. When I went inside to take my son to the restroom, I noted how dark and peaceful it was within, with couples enjoying romantic meals by candlelight. At no time did a single child cause a scene. The child-free were inside, and the families happily outside. It was win-win. I ordered the light chicken fajitas since I was starving, and they did NOT disappoint. You receive a choice of corn or flour tortillas(flour for me), pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, rice, and refried beans. The chicken came piping hot on a bed of peppers and onions. I ultimately had to share a bunch with my husband. He in turn ordered the Pollo con Hongos, a chicken dish smothered in mushrooms and jack cheese, and it came recommended by our waitress as well. He thought it was wonderful, but a bit small, and was happy I shared the rest of mine with him. He advised the next time we go back he’s getting the fajitas. We were incredibly impressed by them. For the children, they have a small menu and my sons got the chicken fingers and fries(they don’t appreciate anything Non-American yet). They thoroughly enjoyed it in the brief pauses between playtime. There is plenty of light outside for ambiance, and they play Mexican music from a speaker which I would have preferred not to have since the sounds of the evening would have been ideal. The chairs are wicker and a bit interesting. They are very comfortable for leaning back in, but a bit weird when you try to lean forward to eat. I thought it was just me because I’m pregnant, but my husband thought the same. While the food was delightful, our favorite part by far was the ability to sit outside and actually enjoy each others company while our children played the night away. We will definitely be back again and I have a feeling it will be often.

Tried this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Chips and salsa are served warm and the salsa has a nice roasted tomato flavor. I ordered Ricardo ’ s Burrito. Large portions on all of the meals. Food was good but not amazing. The friends that I was with felt too much salt was used on the seasoned taco meat. One thing that struck me as odd, most Fridays that we go for Mexican on a Friday the restaurant is crowded. Maybe three tables occupied on this day. Overall a decent meal but nothing unique to make it stand out from lesser priced mexican restaurants.

Great margaritas and reasonable happy hour prices! Nachos were yummy but please cut the meat; too big to bite and the meat is good but not easy to bite through! Makes eating the yummy nachos entirely too difficult. Good atmosphere!

This place is a breath of fresh air for this part of Carrollton. I’ve been known to venture out to Richardson(casa Milagros) for a margarita and meal occasionally but not so much anymore. La Vista has good margaritas and the food ain’t too shabby either. I’ve been coming here every Thursday for the last month or so and plan on doing it for awhile longer. Keep it up La Vista.

Me and my girls are here on a Sunday, surprised to see a very large selection and brunch decided to skip the brunch and went straight for the Carne Asada. Absolutely amazing fajita cooked vegetable with a healthy size steak! Our waitress was amazing we sat on the patio and let my friends daughter play on the playground. A PLUS for any parent! Our waitress Perla was amazing very attentive with her customers.

Nice décor and friendly service, but the beef on our entrée was barely edible. I needed razor sharp teeth to bite into it. Sorry folks, faux snakeskin booths are not enough for a return visit.

Honest review, from a new customer and someone who lives in walking distance to this restaurant. I received a flyer on my door promoting this restaurant and gave it a try… I went in with my wife and her parents on a weekend for dinner, they had been once before it was my first time. The frozen margaritas were excellent, one of the best I’ve had in the area. The waitress was very nice and friendly! Everyone enjoyed their meals with one problem. My Carne Asada dish had a piece of rubber stuck to the steak. I picked it out after nearly putting it my mouth. I did not want to make a scene and discretely left the table and went to the bar area to request the manager. I explained to him that everyone was enjoying themselves and I wanted to let him know privately that I had a problem with my meal. I showed him the small but thick piece of rubber. He looked embarrassed and said it must have been a gasket from the blender and that he would take care of it. I let him know we were having a good time but that this was a turnoff to me. Again he assured me he’d take car of the problem and apologized. When we all finished our meals we ordered a Tres Leches for dessert. The manager sent our a plate of Churos to our table on the house they said. Not really necessary as we already ordered and were finishing our dessert. The manager did not remove my meal from the bill, did not invite us back to make up for the mishap, and really didn’t seem to care that he would be losing 4 customers whose bill was well over $ 100 because he neglected to make it right! I waited a day to cool off, pondered a review, and thought lets give the owner a chance to make it right, I called the restaurant at 2:00 and asked if the owner comes in ever. They said ohh yes, he will be in tonight at 5:00… I explained my reason for wanting to speak with him, and left my number requesting a call… No call from the owner was received, no voicemail, no nothing. I guess from the management to the owners of this establishment no one really cares too much! Its a shame because most of the food was good, margaritas were excellent, and I could literally walk to this restaurant. But you will not see me, or my family in their again. There are too many good restaurants with people who care and treat customers the right way in DFW.

Omg… the ghost mango Margarita is fantastic. The pear Margarita was mediocre… little too sweet for my liking. I had the shrimp tacos which were really really good! Comfortable place with nice enough décor and friendly staff. I’ll be back!

Another great Cinco de Mayo, enjoyed the company, food and delicious Ritas! I’ll have to say it was a bit understaffed, although our smiling server more than made up for it with her willingness to say«I’m not sure, but I’ll be happy to check for you» when ask specific questions about dishes. This is always a good sign of a restaurant that cares! Good job La Vista and a special shoutout to the bartender in training … Charleeto!

I met some girlfriends at La Vista Cocina & Cantina recently. I ordered a top shelf margarita and a bowl of chili con queso with ground beef. Both were very good. I also ordered churros to go. About half an hour later, the waiter began handing out checks. I asked about my order of churros and he apologized as he forgot. Regardless of the incident, I still left a 20% tip as he took good care of us. A few days later, I noticed my credit card was charged $ 1 more. Our waiter was good but not 27% tip good. After I spoke with the manager, Charles, he agreed to issue a credit to my card. Another note about La Vista is the horrible bathroom space. There is very little space between the toilet and stall door.

THEYHAVESNAKESKIN! No, not on the menu silly — the faux material chosen to adorn their booth seating! The décor is actually very tastefully done, a modern upscale vibe, comforting dark rich woods, lighting dimmed ever so slightly, yet family friendly and inviting. The food is very high quality with typical favs like fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos, along with some house specialties sprinkled in like Avocado enchiladas. All made to the standards you’d normally pay premium prices for, but not here — very reasonably priced! And the taco meat, beans, and rice are perfectly seasoned, tasty, simple, and complimentary to the dish it’s served with –not all tricked up with chunks of tomatoes or other odd veggies — kid friendly and picky eater approved. Makes this a perfect place to suggest for a family dinner or group outing! Have to mention the staff. The moment you open the door, you’re warmly welcomed with the kind of genuine smiles and tempered excitement you give to dinner guests and old friends arriving at your own home. You’re promptly seated and handed off to your waiter who has so far always been very attentive and beaming with pride in what he does. Seriously, where do they find these people! Eaten here 4 times so far, bringing more people each time — it’s been a big hit — nice find! Oh, on Tuesdays, leave the kiddos with the sitter and roll in here for the margaritas and tacos special. Wow. Yes. Thank me later ;-)

This was our first time here… Food and service was really good. waiter was friendly and helpful… you can tell that the salsa was not from a can, it was fresh and good. We ordered the chilli con queso. I was weary when it came out. it had a chilli in the middle and cheese around it. it did not look that great., but when we mixed it together and tried it… wow. it was so good My husband got the fajitas and loved it… I got a steak dish. recommendation of the waiter .it had some type of green sauce on top and came out on a fajita platter and was so good. it had spice and flavor to it.

Enjoyed my visit! They have only been open about 3 months and there were almost no customers on a Monday at 7. They may have trouble standing out from the crowd of tex-mex restaurants. They don’t really have much unique on the menu, but I think they want to be known for their margaritas. They have a zillion varieties, especially the spicy margaritas that people like these days. I didn’t try one(had a beer instead… no drafts only bottles), but one of my friends had a frozen mango and she liked it, and another had a rocks pineapple jalapeño and she loved it. Said it wasn’t very spicy. Anyways, they have a nice location although it’s not amazingly visible from the road. They have decorated very nicely inside and while the menu is pretty non-impressive, all the food that our party got was outstanding. I had pollo con hongos and I was very impressed. It was a nice touch that they did grilled veggies and rice instead of the typical rice and beans. The veggies were pretty good. I highly recommend the grilled chicken balls wrapped in bacon for an appetizer. Great taste and it comes with more queso than you need for the appetizer, so you can enjoy a bit with chips too! Overall, they have promise, but I think they ought to either make their margaritas a selling point or try to improve the menu with more dramatic/eclectic options.
