Went here on a Monday night with a group of 9. We were greeted with warm hand towels and a happy hour sushi menu. The happy hour sushi was decent. My friends got salmon rolls which looked delicious off the regular menu. I have to try some of those next time. They looked awesome. The chicken teriyaki is kind of like an Asian Salisbury Steak. There is a ton of «gravy» on it as you can see from the pic… But He liked it and would order it again. Service is a bit slow, but I expect it from small non-franchise places… They just don’t have as many resources. Food didn’t all come out at once which is another inconvenience. But we would still come back for the food.

It was lunch time when I came in. Not many people there. The place looks alright, some sort Asian style decorations on the wall, Fake Asian wooden windows. I didn’t order from lunch menu, I love sushi, so I ordered from the sushi bar menu: tuna nigiri, salmon roe nigiri, and spicy tuna roll. My tuna cut was very thin and small, smallest I’ve ever seen at all the sushi places. Rice is a key factor for good sushi, the rice here was so hard and cold, taste like they’ve been left for so long that it’s about to go bad. Disappointed, I had chicken Kobe for appetizer, it was way too salty for me to eat, chicken taste so so.(not white meat) Service is alright, she was nice when I came in, and not very nice when I was leaving. I did order $ 27 worth of food for a small lunch and left about $ 4 as tip. Which I think the food are a bit over priced at this place. I don’t mind paying more for good sushi which they really don’t have it here. Not recommended for people who wants some real sushi. And won’t come back again.

I ordered a bento box with chicken teriyaki and sushi. The sushi was good. It will not win any awards, but still better than average. I can’t say the same thing about the chicken teriyaki. It was submerged in a sea of salty teriyaki sauce and tasted awful. The chicken was over cooked and chewy. The Shrimp tempera was ok! nothing special. The price is not bad and the service is better than average. Not sure if I would come back…

Love this place. Really fresh chilled sushi. Large selection of sake. Nice service. Have been going here and on off for years with family. Now that I’ll be moving to Carmel I’ll be going often.

My first time here in years, and it was okay. The place was not busy, although it was early, probably around 5:45 pm; and the service was attentive and good. We got two different rolls and sushi. I was a bit disappointed with the eel, it lacked the flavor that I’m accustomed to when ordering that dish, and the rolls were also good, but not exceptional. I thought they could’ve turned the AC a little cooler because it felt rather stuffy and warm in the dining room. Over all, nothing to jump up and down about, but still a good experience.

This is by far my favorite Japanese restaurant in Indianapolis. It’s worth stating this is more of an authentic Japanese restaurant and not a fusion sort. The sushi rolls here are nothing too crazy, but always good. The spicy tuna roll is the best I’ve had anywhere from here to Miami. For a meal, I’d recommend the Katsu-don but know it takes a little bit of time to make. Really suggest going for the Happy Hour here.

This is the most under rated sushi place in Ham Co. The Udon tempura soup has magic healing powers. Not a super big place so pick a good time to come. Take out is handy too

Best sushi ever. Quiet inside, so usually get carryout. Their Miami rolls melt in your mouth. Nice staff.

The food is fine but way over priced. $ 100 tab for 2 adults and 3 kids with not much in the way of extras and no alcohol. The décor is nice but not fancy. They service is slow with the meal taking far too long not were the entrees bright at the same time. I suggest skipping it for other sushi options.

It is a rip-off. We bought their 2 person groupon, with 1 appetizer, 2 miso soup, 2 side salad, and 4 rolls for $ 25 or so. The miso soup and Edamame have so much salt in them(even for my asian palate). And the four rolls were just okay, quite average in presentation, portion and taste. We added 2 nigiri rolls(one salmon and one tuna, each has 2 small pieces) for another 9.90. This is our way of trying to let them make some money from us. Then came the bill: $ 80+. After deducting Groupon, we were told that we still own them about $ 36, because each of the four rolls we ordered exceed their $ 8/roll in Groupon fine print. So, after adding the tips, we spent $ 47 in addition to the $ 25 we paid using Groupon. For this kind of price, we can get way better. Be honest in your advertising(instead of using fine prints to trick people), and stop exploiting your customers. Of course, we will never go back.

Saw the Groupon and decided to check it out. First impression from the outside was not so great. The first thing I thought of was am I going to get food poisoning from the raw fish? Still decided to give it a try. Waitress was nice and we ordered water. Water came with a fly floating on top. Now this can happen. One of those gnats can drop in at anytime. I let waitress know and she apologized and said she will get me a new glass. Got a new glass of water about to drink it and I see lipstick marks on the cup. Sigh… I just couldn’t get myself to eat there so I politely notified the waitress and she was mortified. I told her that we will just go. So I have not tried their food unfortunately but two times is too much for me.

Just had dinner there today and we were the only people there! We got there with 15 min left of happy hour(6:15) and got 10 sushi rolls for $ 4 each! We got big bottles of Kirin ichiban beer and vegetable udon noodles and chicken & beef teriyaki. Very good Japanese food!

As an admitted sushi snob the first thing I always look for is whether or not the restaurant is Japanese. The reason? The Japanese treat making sushi(or food in general) as an art or at the very least they are more meticulous when cooking. I have found that this is not the case when the restaurant is not Japanese owned. And that theory holds true here. The sushi is definitely sub par. The rolls I ordered had way too much mayo in them. It was overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. And I’m not sure why ALL of them had mayo. I had a spicy tuna roll(which should have mayo), a shrimp tempura, and a rainbow roll. I’ve never had a shrimp tempura or rainbow roll with mayo anywhere. And definitely not this much mayo. Bleh. The service wasn’t horrible. But I came in about 20 minutes before closing and instead of asking if I wanted to sit I was automatically asked if I wanted to get something to go. A bit rude if you ask me. Don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Great SUSHI! Try the manhattan and the volcano roll. Excellent. Didn’t get a 5 star because it smelled like a light sprinkle of piss was in the air lol

I am something of a regular here. Really good sushi, but the service is amazing compared to other local sushi places. Also the happy hour specials are hard to beat at $ 3.95/roll. Of course there’s a limited selection but I don’t mind that at all. Enjoy your next trip here! Like other Unilocalers, the only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star review is the lack of personality as far as decorating goes. But I’ll take the $ 3.95 rolls over ambiance ;-)

I hope that Sansui is beginning to take a turn for the better. My most recent experience was very positive. Quick, friendly service and very commendable sushi rolls. However, it took me almost a year to patronize this restaurant again after an initially negative experience. As I said, my most recent experience was great, so I’ll chalk it up to Sansui’s improvements. I would recommend checking this place out.

After reading mixed reviews, still took the chance for a quick dinner before the show at the Palladium. Told the waitress we needed to be in and out in 40 minutes and she made it happen. Soba tempura sat on top of flavorful hot broth, but the entire tempura consisted of the smallest two shrimp. My son’s roll was good, but also on the small side. Edamame was fine, but no more than that. The price tag was about 15% higher than most similar restaurants.

Great selection of sushi rolls or maki as they say. It would have been a 5 but they don’t serve«uni» or sea urchin. Regardless, everything else is great. They don’t put a whole lot of rice and the fish taste fresh enough. Price is decent and their green tea ice cream… well, it’s really green tea… very bitter but still so yummy.

Don’t listen to these haters. I went to Sansui with my girlfriend today, and we had fantastic service and the food was delicious. Did I mention we used a groupon that was about to expire? Yeah, we did that, and the server knew exactly the deal we had and brought us a special menu just for the groupon. She was able to recommend several delicious rolls, and I am currently crammed full of yummy sushi. I did not catch her name, but she provided impeccable service.
