We came in not knowing what to expect(we’re from out of town), and we had our dog. We were seated and were the only people in the whole restaurant. After our order was taken, the owner entered with his dog who immediately started playing with our dog. The owner gave us some chicken(free of charge) for our pup to eat and a bowl of water for him to drink. The two dogs played and chased each other around. It was very laid back and I loved how nice they are here. I had the Thai pie, and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was.

Amazing pizza! Service was ridiculously slow and this was on a Monday night with very few people. We had a recently hired waiter who was very polite but the female waitress was unbelievably rude and negative. Not 100% sure but think her name was Diana. If the pizza wasn’t so good the rating would be much lower. This is an amazing restaurant … Just needs better management and/or employees. I hope it improves as we are forced to order to go now.

Delicious pizza, good service, and the owner and employees were very kind to our two dogs. Such a warm atmosphere to relax and enjoy some good food with our«family». Thanks!

I don’t leave comments often, but I’m on vacation with family and dogs. I would like to say that service at Allegro has been very good. Food(pizza and beer) was delicious and quick. We have a grumpy dog, but the entire experience was pleasant. The owner and the servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. They brought water and food for the dogs and were sweet. Thank you, vacation with family can be stressful, but you were sterling and made it pleasant.

The pizza is soooo good, that we ate yesterday and I still want more today. Really good NY style pizza. Not sweet, not salty, not too saucy, not to cheesy, just perfect. On top of that a pet friendly and kid friendly restaurant. The garlic bread is really good, but the pizza is outstanding(and believe me I have a 17 yo that only eats pizza). Still craving it a day later!

We ordered a single pizza delivery with an estimated wait time of 40 minutes, and it took over 90 minutes to be delivered. The pizza was very expansive and average at best.

We were on vacation and desperate for delivery. We clearly told them that we needed utensils bc we did not have any as we were staying in a hotel. We also asked for chili flakes. We got one fork for four of us to eat soup, 2 salads, lasagna, and fettuccine alfredo. No spoon for the soup, no chili flakes, just 1 fork after ordering 5 entrees and soup. Really??? Needless to say, that pissed us off. For good food, I can overlook a lot of things. Regrettably, this was mediocre food. The cheese pizza looked like a kid pizza at a children’s pizza restaurant. I am not convinced that the cheese is real. The dough was cheap for sure. The vegetable lasagna was horrendous. I suspect that the vegetables in it were mostly from a can. The fettuccine Alfredo was plain but edible and I ate more of that than anything. The caprese salad was fresh and my wife enjoyed that the most. The Caesar salad was also quite good.

Lovely ambiance! Shelly made us feel very welcome and alerted us to the Unilocal deal. We’re waiting for a 16″ pepperoni pizza while tasting our free flight of wine accompanied by perfect focaccia !! If you get the chance to stop by, there’s a roaring fire and outdoor seating as well as soft acoustic guitar in the background! Buon appetito!

Fairly good pizza, but unappetizing kids’ offerings and slow service drag the rating of this family-friendly joint down.

After a long day of sightseeing and hiking with our three young children, we wanted a simple dinner near the hotel. We were beyond impressed. Super kid friendly, nice atmosphere and a great menu. As a family that has relocated to CA from the NY area, it was awesome to finally enjoy some good pizza!

I am not even going to knock the food the pizza was great. I would eat here again, but I would order it «TOGO.» That service experience was by FAR, the WORST experience I have had. Jeano my man, those service skills need to be addressed. That is awesome you respond to your reviews, it means you care. Please take this kindly, but address it. You have a wonderful product. It is a shame the service comments are bringing you down. My wife and I have worked in the service industry and we are 20% to 25% percent tippers, even if the service is bad. It has been a long time since we tip 15% and we did tonight. We wanted to do less, but we don’t have the heart too. Tonight was not a busy night, by far. It is a Thursday night at Carmel at 7:30pm. I believe there was 6 to 8 tables in the entire place and looked like you had 3 to 4 servers on the floor. We were greeted by the bar tender and some locals. I thought cool, those Unilocal reviews are wrong. We choose to sit in the restaurant. The server said, she had to find us a table. We kind of chuckled, cause there was 14 open tables, but whatever. We looked at the menu and had our order ready to go… Ordered two 10 inch Del Mar Pizzas — Salmon & Rock Shrimp, a Caesar Salad, beer and two waters. After that the service went from Sugar, to Shit. We had no water offered, even though we asked multiple times. After about 15 minutes, I finally asked one of the guys for water. Seriously, I not joking I think they filled it up from the bath room. The reason I know this, is because I sat right next to the bathrooms. The water was piss warm with no ice. I get it, we are in a drought, but why did those other tables have a carafe filled with ice water. We sat there and waited for our Salad before our pizza. Nothing for about 20 to 25 minutes, I finally asked the waitress. So finally she checked and brought it out. The salad was good, but seriously it was not that busy. In about the same time, my Beer arrived! 20 to 25 minutes for 1BEER and a Caesar Salad. Pizza came and it was amazing, but we were so pissed with the service. We asked for the check and a box so we can eat it at our room. Apparently, tonight there was some big plans at the Irish Bar upstairs and the waitress had to be there. I had to looked at my watch, to make sure we were not«that couple» that came in there at 8:55pm when you closed at 9:00pm. Nope, we still had an hour left before you closed. So, we were not«That Couple» The highlight of the service was how Fast the pizza box and check arrived. I was floored. I am not a basher on Unilocal, but tonight. This had to be done. Jeano, please fix that issue. I am eating your pizza with my hotel ice water. It is a shame, because that pizza is amazing. I gave you 3 stars, but seriously fix that service. I paid $ 50 to be treated as a nuisance and to be frustrated. If I wanted that experience, I would of just went to my Father In Law house and eaten for FREE.

Some of the best local pizza in Monterey. Very good salads also. Allegro Pizza has been operating for as long as I can remember(at least 25 or 30 years) and has always had great pizza. It’s really a local gem and if you are looking for one of the best pizza places in Monterey, these guys are hard to beat. Their margehrita pizza is an absolute standout — by far the best version I have ever had. You might notice a few other reviews commenting on service quality, but we have actually noticed a nice improvement in that area recently, so don’t let that keep you from giving Allegro’s a go. As long as you arrive with a relaxed attitude, you should have a good experience. Again, if you are looking for some of the best pizza in Monterey or Carmel, Allegro’s is hard to beat — and I say that as a resident here on the Peninsula of over 45+ years.

Went in and sat at the bar. Really slow with only a few people there but plenty of staff. Sat for 5 minutes without anyone saying a word to me, then one of the girls sitting at the bar but not wearing a uniform, went around the bar to keep her food warm so I assumed she worked there, but she actually spoke to me, but it didn’t seem like she was working and went back to her seat. Then a server started doing roll ups directly in front of me but also wouldn’t acknowledge that I was there. After another 5 or 10 minutes of sitting there without anyone saying absolutely anything to me I just walked out. I was just looking for a beer and a few pizzas to bring back to Fourth of July party. Everyone was confused when I said I was bringing back allegros and then returned with pizza my heart.

What an amazing find! Roadtripping from Big Sur to San Fran, we needed a meal, wanted some vietnemese Phở, and were led to this area where we stumbled into this magical pizza oasis. As a pizza obsessor, I was suspect of a new place, but Unilocaled and found some pleasant reviews, as well as a note that they had some free wine with a Unilocal check-in. We met the owner Jeano, and he was a saint! My lady has extreme food allergies, and Jeano was right there to create the perfect treat for her; gluten free, tomato free, and 20 restrictions later, she was in heaven! I was happy cause I got that free wine;) AND my pizza was amazing; super gourmet, great cheese, and fantastic crust. Def gotta go there again when in Carmel!

So very disappointing. We went to the restaurant because we were tired and it was close to the hotel. That’s no reason to be less than mediocre. Service The servers were too busy on their cell phones, flirting with each other and breaking dishes at the station behind us to ask if everything was ok. Many of the online menu items, the reason for our visit, were off the menu. Food We were a group of 4, and though the dinner rush was no where near started yet it took forever to get our order, including an 8 minute gap between the first 3 entrees and the 4th guests’ meal, which meant the first three(served in un-warmed plates, mind you) were stone cold by the time we had all been served. The anchovies on our itsy bitsy cold pizza(I thought this was gourmet?) hadn’t been soaked or warmed, just thrown on after the pie came our of the oven. The«Alfredo» sauce had no cream! and was dry as toast. The penne with meatballs and tomato sauce, cold, didn’t even taste of tomatoes. For the jacked up Carmel prices I had expected much better. Avoid at all costs.

The bread thing they put on the table is pretty good. Then with the Unilocal check in, you get free wine. Next we ordered the pizza and it was alright. My only complaint was the tables are pretty close together. I don’t like hearing others people’s conversation — or them hearing ours.

The food was tasty. I got Nana’s pasta, and chicken pasta and shared with a freind. I was so hungry after backpacking, so the quantity was not enough for me. The Nana’s past didn’t come with pasta, just a soup, so we asked carb and we got bread. It was weird. Except for the quantity, it was good. A little expensive, though.

This review is based on their pizza. Allegro’s pizza is thin crust. We ordered an Italian sausage pizza not knowing what exactly to expect. They use high quality sausage that is mild and tasty. The mozzarella is a cut above as well. The sauce was not overwhelming which allowed the sausage center stage. I can’t say the crust was a home run, a double off the wall, close. It was good but really only another supporting cast member to the cheese and sausage. $ 29. for a 16 inch pizza hurts even if it tastes special. The two young men working as server and bartender were very friendly. The facility is comfortable, clean and inviting. It’s pretty close to home so I definitely see a dinner or late lunch here once in awhile.

Didn’t enjoy my food here! We walked in on a Saturday, a bit late, around 9PM, after seeing sunset at the beach. We were going to eat at Soban but it was closed. Allegro’s was right behind our hotel and looked lively. And in the front they wrote on the blackboard: fresh monterey salmon(with salad). So we decided to give it a try. We ordered: — fresh monterey salmon caesar salad: surprisingly bad. The salmon was very tasteless, very bland, and didn’t look fresh or wild at all. Maybe it was actually from monterey… a year ago? the salad itself was okay, leafs look fresh. The green olives are nice. — a slice of veggie pizza: tasteless. The vegetables are either from can or frozen. — a slice of cheese pizza: this was better. Edible at least. — lemonade: made from powder. — cappuccino: pretty decent. I wouldn’t go back there again. I would have given them 1 star if they were in San Francisco. I bumped it to 2 star because they’re in Carmel.
