Loved the diner and the old-fashioned feel! The food was great and service was excellent. Love their chicken sausage oh, and they have sugar free syrup for fellow T1Ds like me(or, if you’re just watching your sugar)!

THOMASESPROMISES. HI Folks… I wanted to try the Thomas Eggery. For BREAKFAST. I made sure to have cash… NO Credit CARDSHERE. …I arrived early. 6:15AM. NO parking issues or waiting today. YAY! The diner was nearly empty as I was one of the first to arrive. I noticed there was TV. which I found to be unusual. I like to watch The Morning News. However newspapers are available. Taking a cue from the restaurant’s name . I ordered the 2 eggs and Ham STEAK on a SKILLET.. Nice Touch. Breakfast came out quickly and was NICE and HOT. I noticed the flavor of the eggs the quality of the ham steak. was a notch higher then some of the places that I frequent. Probably why the place is a little bit more pricey. Regulars are greeted by name. All sorts of nostalgic items are featured around the place that looks like a diner from the Heyday of the sixties. The place is really cute breakfast spot but it is incredibly popular and crowded . I do believe it could use an update. A Simple update such as. A TV., Wi-Fi ACESS .and Credit Card acceptance would be GREAT. but THOMAS’S. looks like it’s A successful family-owned business that is set in his ways and will not change… NOPROBLEM. come Early. BRINGCASH… GOOD Food. Jim D.

Loved it! Sooo much food, it was served in a skillet which was too cute. The parking lot was full and I have no complaints.

I brought my family here on our visit to Long Island and it was perfect! We have a lot of picky eaters but there was something for everyone! The menu has a little bit of everything from breakfast to lunch to dinner! When you walk in you feel like you could be in a movie. The diner is picture perfect. Such a lovely atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and really made us feel right at home. They were always there with a refill on the coffee and bright smiles on their faces. My aunt ordered the spinach pie and she let me try a bite and it was delicious! I had a nice grilled chicken sandwich. Portions here are hearty and the prices are small. Perfect combo! Be sure to stop in and try them out!

This place is great! We especially love coming here for breakfast but I have friends that enjoy their dinners as well. All the eggs/one lets are brought to the table in frying pan it is cooked in. The only thing that can be a problem is the long wait on weekends and the parking situation. Make sure you bring cash they don’t take credit cards…

So I’ve been here about 4 times with my hubby. Imagine that I grew up in the neighborhood and never stopped here. It always gave me the vibe of old white folk territory. But my cousin went here and she said it was good so we tried it. It is a neighborhood diner in every sense you can imagine. Every one knows everyone and yes it is white folk but nice people.(My loss for being so nervous all these years) The food is very good. Affordable. I love their lobster Mac and cheese dinner. I always go for breakfast but I ordered a dinner to go and it was great. I think the décor can use an upgrade but maybe that allows them to keep the prices down or maybe it adds to the old diner charm. I recommend this place. 4 stars for it being a small place

A friend told me about this place and I figured since I was in the mood for breakfast for dinner, why not! It defiantly doesn’t have 5 star décor but it’s a diner atmosphere so does it matter? and it’s really clean. Fairly typical Diner like menu, but it’s done to perfection. Big omelettes served up on skillets. Eggs cooked perfect! Crispy bacon! & huge fluffy pancakes! I wish this place was open later though, they close too early.

Thank you fellow Unilocalers(especially Christina J for putting me on blast for never dining at Thomas’ Ham & Eggery Diner) — another great find! Upon arrival — I already notice it’s a small diner & parking is pretty scarce. I already expect it to Be crowded & prepare myself for the mayhem. But, to my surprise I found a parking spot with no hassle at all. Then walking in I told the gentleman who was seating everyone«2 of us» — he said«20 minutes». But never took our names or anything. I said to myself OK let’s see where this goes. Not only was this guy right about the 20 minute wait time but he remembered who was ahead of who. Amazing. I was already impressed with this place. We get seated. Nice little cozy booth. Nothing fancy– typical diner booths. But comfortable. I had the window to my right & the open kitchen to my left. I felt right at home. Service was great! The bus boy(wish I got his name) was so attentive to our table that as we’re leaving he’s giving us more glasses of water. Our waitress was great but a little busy with everything going on since there were only 2 waitresses & the place was packed. Received our food quite fast, but I’m not gonna fuss. Hahaha. EVERYTHING was delicious. Not many places on LI do serve grits let alone these amazing skillets that Thomas’ delivers. I guess the delicious food & fast service is why this place is still a hot commodity after all these years.

Had the pleasure of breakfasting with a fellow Unilocaler from Cali. Such a nice time. The wait wasn’t as long as it can be on a weekend. The food was on point as usual. I had one of the specials which was a breakfast strata. I make this at home but with sausage & bacon. This one was individually made with cut up bread, Spinach, Prosciutto & Cheese. Very delicate & delicious. I would highly recommend this if you see it on the menu again. My breakfast compadre JoJo got Cheesy Grits with Eggs & Chicken Sausage patties. She said they were good. It looked delicious. You can’t go wrong with the Ham & Eggery. Especially because they serve everything in a pan making it taste extra good. So yes, believe the hype! Come on down. 4-23-2016

This place never disappoints Great variety, great service The coffee is always fresh and the baked goods delish Went back for the first time in a while and they took the Genoa Salami and eggs off the menu but the Pastrami omelette was perfect — maybe it’s the skillet, or maybe it’s the atmosphere– but this continues to be one of my top two breakfast places on Long Island

First timer here, but the atmosphere and personality of the staff makes it feel like you’re a regular. Quick speedy service with a smile! Can’t complain about the food either, solid breakfast dish(cheesy grits with bacon and eggs). I’ve seen a few frittatas coming out of the kitchen and it looks huge!!! Might have to get that the next time I’m back. FYI — Cash only! Get there early!

We came here for a quick dinner before going to see a movie. There was 1 waitress working, and for a slow Monday night that was fine. I ordered the tuna melt. What I got was cold tuna, and cold half-melted cheese. Where was this melt? Beats me. I could only eat half of it before deciding that my taste buds didn’t deserve this misery. I picked on the fries, but even those, to which I added salt(and I dislike overly-salty food) didn’t really make the cut. They tasted like the crinkle cut fries we buy frozen at the store. The weird thing is, for a dinner, they don’t serve breakfast all day, or at least some breakfast items. I’m not sure what you can order, but I really wish I went with a stack of pancakes since those seem to something everyone writes about.

Quality of food: average. Service: average. The only waiting time can fluctuate. Coming here I knew it was a dinner so I didn’t expect anything too amazing. However, the food portions were too big and sometimes quantity can get in the way of quality. They serve unlimited coffee which is a plus. Other than that I would say to try it out, but if you don’t get to try it then you are not missing out on much.

The people here are honestly so sweet and caring. The best customer service I’ve received in a NYC restaurant — yes even better than those fancy ones too. I say this because the workers actually seemed to care about what you ordered and how you liked the food, it wasn’t just an act to get tips. They were very attentive and personable, which I liked. Aside from the amazing customer service though, the food was great too. I had the huevos rancheros which was really good and home fries on the side with an iced tea. The home fries were kind of burnt and lacked flavor in my opinion, but the huevos rancheros I liked very much, as well as my iced tea! I wouldn’t mind coming back to try something else. They really did make me feel like I was at home :)

This place is good. Real good! It’s always popped up on my recommendations since I’ve moved to LI but being such a small, basically roadside diner, it’s been tough to commit to the packed parking lot and obvious wait. Yesterday my girlfriend and I finally caught a chance to go on an off hour and(still with a short wait) we experienced everything that makes this place a gem: Cozy diner rooted in history, great staff from the stern but obviously 20+ years experienced waitress to the passionately goofy busboy, and a simple but unique menu packed with flavor! Be sure to experience this place for yourself! It’s worth the wait! P. s. Good coffee too!

Bonnie G and i were visiting the Box Shop and after felt like lunch… Across street was Thomas’s Ham & Eggery… We found our way into the lot and made the move inside. It is a throwback diner with alot of charisma! The waitress put us in a booth and we proceeded to peruse the menu. Bonnie G. ordered a wonderfully fluffy Fiesta Omelet with great home fries and I had Blueberry Pancakes with sausage. It may not sound like much but it was a bunch of food… really good food! At peak times the small lot fills quickly and parking is difficult. I truely recommend trying this place as the food is terrific and the staff is accomodating. This place feels like the Skyline Diner by LGA… old but still serving solid vittles!

Small diner with personable staff pumping out great food. Thomas’ is right on Old country Rd and has the tiniest parking lot. It’s sufficient based on the seating they have available inside but not for the masses of people that come and eat here. I stopped in around 4pm on a dreary Saturday. I guess that worked to my benefit because my friend and I were seated immediately. Our waiter Roxanne was friendly, cracked jokes with us and made great suggestions concerning their scrambles. The banana stuffed french toast with caramel pecan sauce was a treat! Oozing banana filling with sweet caramel and crunchy pecans on top; Simply sweet and delectable! My friend enjoyed his Italian scramble that came with prosciutto and fontina but didn’t like his home fries. I thought the home fries were fairly seasoned and had nice crunchy corners that I appreciated. Quick, enjoyable, friendly service; I enjoyed my time here and would return

This place is a local hidden gem. Many people come here and yet a lot of people don’t know it’s there. I like to come here on occasion for breakfast especially when I’m not in the mood for IHOP. Their location isn’t great in terms of parking. Their lot is tight and really small. Considering they get busy any day of the week any time you should keep that in the back of your mind Another thing is this place is CASHONLY. they have an ATM for use with a charge of course so don’t leave home without your dollars Other than those things and the fact that this place is small with about 15 – 20 tables I happen to enjoy their food. The food is always great and there is never a long wait to get it once you order. Their portions are huge and are great for sharing. I would recommend one of their specialty pancakes. Their frittatas come in a skillet and they’re really good as well.
