It’s Wine Tyme

Love this place! Great selection of wines at awesome prices and love that they have beer at all, let alone on tap! The owners are super friendly and make you feel like family which will guarantee a return from me. The staff was polite and knowledgeable and definitely good for a few laughs along the way. Another plus is the beautiful outdoor seating area and depending on the night, live entertainment. Will definitely recommend to others and can’t wait to go back myself!

After reading the other reviews I don’t feel as bad writing mine. My wife and I stopped in last night to check out some advertised music and take advantage of the free holiday parking. It’s a small venue and most places to sit were already taken, by people who knew each other, so we sat at the bar as nobody was sitting there. It wasn’t our first choice. We were presented with menu’s when we sat down. We decided to wait until the music started before ordering anything and we told the waitperson that. My wife even asked if it was okay to stay if we didn’t purchase anything, and we were told that it was.
The music started and after about maybe 3 songs, a different women came up to the bar and asked us what she could get us. My wife replied that we didn’t want anything. The women told us that if we weren’t buying anything, she would have to ask for a $ 7.00 cover charge. We were taken back. She said she was sorry but people were walking away, presumably from the door? I believe what she meant was since she wasn’t making any money from us we would have to pay her or leave. She actually put a hand on each of us while we had this conversation. So we left.
What was obvious to us was, we weren’t the only people not drinking anything. I’d say the majority of the people in the room didn’t purchase anything while we were there. We couldn’t help but wonder if she was going to tell the other people not buying anything what she told us Two ladies walked in just after us, we scooted over to give them chairs so they could sit together. They didn’t buy anything either. In addition, not all the places to sit were taken. There were several empty chairs available so it’s not likely that other people were not coming inside because there was no place to sit. This event was not advertised as having a cover charge or a drink minimum,
My wife and I are regular looking people, not any different looking from the other’s there. We were sitting quietly enjoying the music. The music was, okay, nothing special from what we had heard, but we weren’t certain just how long we would stay. Obviously, we won’t be going back and I have no problem telling others how we were treated. This is in bad form and the lady, presumably the owner, is rude as far as I am concerned. Somebody needs to give her a clue.

Came here on a Wednesday night, there was live music, cool pictures on the wall, and really good wine. All this made a great atmosphere. Perfect local place to drink wine and relax.

Finally tried it! Very casual. Really basic «towny» bar atmosphere. Drunk guy at the bar added to the atmosphere, wasn’t sure at times if he was joking or trying to start a fight with fellow bar flys. Old looking bar area, outside covered area with plastic tables and mismatched furniture with live music. Prices low, food ok, matches environment. Bartender greeted us when we arrived, was friendly and helpful. Waitress friendly and meal went well. Not for anyone looking for a warm, cozy, high quality food place.

I love this place… I am at Wine Tyme so much it feels like home… I love the staff, the atmosphere, and the music! They have so many great different selections of wine, and no one can beat their prices! I love the fact that they have Discretion beer on tap too. This family owed business is the best place to go in the Capitola village!

Wednesday night open mic, can’t hear anything the guy is singing, waited fifteen minutes for our drinks, gave up and walked over to the Cava bar.
Very few seats inside.

I recently hosted a surprise birthday party for my husband at Wine Tyme and it was wonderful. Sondi, our hostess, was very accommodating and everything went off without a hitch. The food, wine and ambience couldn’t have been better.

Loved this place. Great wine and atmosphere… seaside sisters were great. Only thing i would do is add more staff on a busy weekend night… It was hectic trying to get the servers attention. I wanted to buy a bottle of wine there but too chaotic for that.

Excellent spot to grab a glass of wine and listen to some live music. My wife and I love this place! The owner, Sondy is a real delight. She provides excellent service and makes great recommendations if you are up for trying something new. Great place to visit with friends. There is an outside dining area that is perfect on a warm summer day.

Best Wine Bar experience in the Santa Cruz region. Great local selection with a wide variety of wines from several California appellations and a perfect small bites menu to satisfy the hunger. Owner very attentive and accommodating to all customers needs. Live music is the perfect background to your evening experience on the patio.
Overall great experience and highly recommend!

Nice location, service leaves something to be desired. Both times I used groupons and they tried to say I could not use them due to circumstances *that were not stated on the groupon*. I’m afraid I had to be rather pushy with the server today, which I regret, but if there are conditions on the groupon it say so under the terms and conditions, and she wasn’t very accommodating. Lovely patio and live music. Food is ok. Probably won’t be back any time soon.

The service was not welcoming, the wine was not good, and food — cheap Safeway cheese. Good location tho.

The welcoming environment and nice sitting area outside brought us in to this tiny place. It feels more like a coffee shop than a bar, so we felt comfortable bringing our 6 month old baby. They gave us blankets because we sat outside and it was a bit chilly. They seem to have an evening tasting and appetizer special every night or on certain nights. I definitely will be back!
