Located in a strip mall near Publix(off of Pine Island Road), this little restaurant is easy to miss if you’re not looking in the right direction. My husband spotted the half-lit sign while I was looking the other way(and he was driving!) I’ll say this right up front: we’re in the minority according to Unilocal reviews. We were unimpressed. Everyone gets chips and salsa. Tacos El Tequilla’s version is three types of salsa in a caddy with a basket of chips. We agreed the chips seemed stale. They were slightly chewy and they weren’t seasoned. We like fajitas. The menu offers fajitas(strips of meat only) and Tex-Mex fajitas(meat with onions and peppers). My husband ordered the regular steak and I ordered Tex-Mex steak. We received(and were charged for) the exact same food. The fajitas come with either corn(5 small) or flour(3 medium) tortillas. I wasn’t able to finish my meal with only three tortillas and requested some more. We were charged $ 1 for another three tortillas. Fair enough. The fajita meat was seasoned but not to our liking. It had a very strong black pepper taste. It was overpowering. Service was adequate but shy of good. We were impressed with the speed our meals came from the kitchen. However, I had to look around for our waitress and request a refill for my tea and some more flour tortillas. My husband wasn’t offered another soda when his was finished.(Sodas are served in cans or bottles so there is a charge for each one.) Final Assessment: the entire experience was probably a 2.5. Unfortunately, we don’t round up, which leaves Tacos El Tequilla with 2 stars.

Found this place through the reviews on Unilocal and gave it a try. I just have to say I Love It, been there 3 times and will def be back. Tried a different entrée each time and was impressed by all of them. My go to Mexican eatery and I have referred all my snowbird friends to give it a try.

First and last experience at tacos el tequila. I ordered an ala cart carnitas tacos Mexican style and Chile Relleno with cheese. I got the dinner plate chile Relleno plus taco. Sent it back for just chile Relleno. The taco was good, but the chile relleno wasn’t. Cheese was cold and not melted and the sauce was glumpy. Can’t get waitresses attention because she’s too busy watching TV. She never came to ask if meal was good or if I wanted more water or coffee, she’s too busy watching TV, until I am all done. By then I am ALLDONE with tacos el tequila.

Decent food and polite service. Very busy on the random afternoon we went to visit. The chips served with the salsas seemed to be a bit stale as there were super hard and the salsas appeared to be slightly watered down. I did enjoy my chile relleno however and we enjoyed leftovers the next day. Would not necessarily go out of my way to return here but I can see why the locals love it.

Relaxed yummy Mexican food. I split the Taco Salam(hard shell taco salad) with my mom and it was the perfect amount of food for two. Well seasoned rice, guac and steak! Finger licking good! Nice environment too.

I love this place. It is our favorite local Mexican restaurant. You can get anything from a chimichanga to a healthy veggie and chicken platter. You have to try this place!

Food was fantastic. Large portions, tender steak, fresh salsa… My only complaint is their lack of margaritas(and tequila). For a restaurant called Tacos El Tequila, I don’t think they are holding up their end of the bargain. :)

Quaint little place located near Bed Bath and Beyond(so you know which side, GPS doesn’t tell you). Went for lunch and was happy with everything we had. I had the enchiladas with grilled jalapenos and it was tasty. My wife had the Carne Asada and said it was well done and a tongue taco(one of her test indicators for good Mexican) and said it was delicious. Service was extremely fast and friendly. We are already looking forward to coming back.

Delicious and authentic Mexican restaurant. The guacamole was delicious with homemade chips. 3 different salsas were also good, one with a bit of a kick. Our table ordered chicken burritos and bean burritos. Servings were generous and could be split between 2 people. Time from ordering to getting good way extremely fast. Giving restaurant less of a score due to the service. Waitress wasn’t attentive and had us waiting a bit for things we needed. But the staff was friendly when we walked in. Would definitely come back.

Rarely do I disagree with so many Unilocal reviewers and for me this is a rare 1 star review. For us the service was horrible, the food was a disaster, the menus needed cleaning and the tabletops were filthy. It did smell good and the chicken itself was tasty… those are the only compliments I can muster. We started with a five minute wait before we saw a server. When one showed up, she took our drink order and a few minutes later a different waitress delivered us water but that wasn’t what I ordered. She took our food order and didn’t write it down. Couple minutes later she came back with a pad and pencil and took our order again. The place had a handful of customers but was not particularly busy. The Food… The chips were thick, cold and hard. They were coupled with three salsas each one was a no-go zone. The salsa verde was the worst I have had. The thick red one was sweet and neither of us liked it. The brown salsa was probably the best of the lot but it was very watery. I had a chicken burrito and chicken soft taco. My wife had a fajita chimichanga. Somehow they fried the burrito and gave it to my wife then served me the non-fried fajita chimichanga. Took as a few bites to figure that one out. At this point we realized nothing about this place was worth repeating. We switched plates and quickly found that the chicken was in short supply in both entrees. I turned toward my chicken soft taco for relief but it only had six small pieces of chicken and a load of onion and cilantro on top. There was more green than chicken I think. After all that, I was still hungry so I came home and had a PBJ. So bad I won’t even try a second round.

No doubt in my mind. The absolute best Mexican food in Cape Coral… and way beyond! First off, fresh tortilla chips with 3 sauces… though I’m only a fan of the medium red stuff; friends love the green. All are truly authentic and incredible. My dish is the(sorry, no speak the Shanish) steak and shrimp. Comes with fajitas(corn or flour), flour my choice. Also has yellow rice and salad to put your dish together. Throw on some salsa and you’ll never go anywhere else for Mexican. Without a single doubt — thee ABSOLUTEBEST ! And the waitress’s are cute and courteous. Kevin Viva La Mexico!!!

Delicious Mexican food is far and few between in Cape Coral, but this restaurant is delicious! The guacamole and chips were fresh, the chimichangas we’re just as yummy and the steak tacos hit the spot! Our waitress, Veronica was very busy(the restaurant was filling up on a Thursday!) but very friendly and extremely attentive. We will definitely be back sometime soon! It’s hidden in the shopping center, so if you spot Publix, you are very close to some good Mexican food!

This restaurant is absolutely delicious! I’ve been coming here a solid year now every other week and they just recently remodeled and it came out incredible! You can clearly see the extra attention to detail to keep the charm and feel is spot on. Now, let’s get to the food: There is many varieties that are so yummy! The TexMex fajitas comes out in a skillet popping hot with enough food to serve 2 people and you may still have left over’s to take home and it’s so good but they only give 3 flour tortillas and it should be more like 5! I love their Canitas platter, very filling! They bring out chips and a variety of 3 different salsas. There’s the red mild, a green salsa that has a little extra kick and a red spicy salsa that you smell it and know it’s hot! They offer glass bottles of coca cola and the flavor is way better than can but I believe you can order by the can too. All of their food has tons of authentic flavor, food is always served hot and fresh, the wait staff are amazingly Sweet and overall a wonderful dedicated group of people! The consistency of the food is always there and that’s what I really appreciate! Try them out! Yum yum!

Good price, food is good, not the best. Food served fast i ordered chicago burrito, my rice in the burrito was little hard. Left over rice? My wife had a chicken tacos, said was great, but the chickens pieces are too chucky for taco.

I liked the set up of the restaurant. Real small and mom and pa place. I ordered a margaritas due to someone review recommendations, I personally thought it was gross and sent it back for a Corona instead. Not to mention I LOVEMARGARITAS too. They give you chips and salsa when you arrive which is definitely a plus. Our food portions were huge, so we definitely left with togo boxes. Although I must say our dishes lacked flavor, kinda bland. I will probably returned because I believe in second chances

Not the best Mexican. Decent but not great. Margarita was terrible. Worst I’ve ever had. Atmosphere was nice although not very cantina. Cool tables and chairs. A Modelo was 3.50 and the complimentary water was nasty. This place could do a lot better with a few tweaks. Tex Mex Fajita came with three tiny tortillas. Sigh…

Had an assortment of tacos. They were amazing. Best I’ve ever had. My disclaimer though is I’m from PA. My wife had the chicken quesadilla and greatly enjoyed that as well. Food was prompt, and nice and hot. Service was as prompt and very friendly. I recommend this place.

Ok — found myself in the area and decided to try this place based on reviews. Wanted a light lunch so went with 3 tacos and a margarita. Tacos el Teq… you get it. The staff was incredibly welcoming. You don’t find that often enough. Base hit. Talked with the owner/manager about the tacos — 2 diff pork & a steak, and he asks«authentic or American style». Does anyone ever answer«No, not into authentic. Gimme ‘merican with lots of cheese» when a Taco Bell is nearby?” Of course not — give me your authentic tacos. Chips came out with 3 salsa’s — 2 were really good, didn’t like the 3rd as much — too bitter for me. That’s ok — the other 2 were plentiful. Tacos were out in 5 minutes. That’s a double. Nice mounds of the filling on double ~4″ corn tortillas. I ate them as presented because I was hungry. Next time will break down the toppings to both tortillas so an order of 3 will yield 6 smaller ones. The ingredients were quite fresh, but if you dislike cilantro as some do you will have a problem. I thought each was great. Included was about slice of about ¼ lime and a roasted Jalapeño. Yum. Makes it a triple. And the home run was the marg. Good and reasonably priced. Home run. This was a good lite lunch — just what I wanted. A solid 4 because these were tacos, after all. I WILL go back and try another meal.

First place for Mexican food I’ve found and really liked here in SW Florida. Yes…will be back again. Super friendly service, great food, spicy hot sauce, beer, chips & salsa and nice atmosphere there with Mexican music playing. Chile Relleno was very good Carne Asada & Lengua tacos were excellent. Large extensive menu with some seafood too. More to try next time I guess. Place fools you from the outside — looks like a tiny taco shop like the ones in CA.
