El Taqueria Azteza, Del Prado, S., Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat. Chit Chat first. WOW I must say this is one of the best mex-tex joints in The Cape. And they do not advertise. It by word of mouth. I had a steak platter and a torta for latter. 1st the hot sauce… creamy and hot but not so hot for you wimpy ones. Rice and beans great flavor and stand alone. Guacamole so good and chunky. Torta… I was surprised as to how big this sandwich was. My and so tasty. Then all the entrees are a good size portion. So if you need some down home good old fashion mexican food come here. I do need to warn you… Service can be iffy… But good stuff comes to those who wait.

This place is awesome. The owner/server is super helpful and friendly. Do not let these reviews discourage you of visiting this restaurant. I can tell you that it is not the fanciest but the food is unbelievably good and inexpensive! Must try the chimichangas or flautas. Cape come and give this restaurant a try trust me it’s worth it!

Four of us dined here last week. I had the Mexicana Burrito which was huge and excellent. Spouse had the chicken enchilada which she loved. Guests both had fajitas, one chicken the other beef. All of us loved the food and while the portion sizes were large we all managed to clean our plates. Not easy to find but really good food. They do a lot of take out business as well. The place is not large but it is clean and tastefully decorated. This is a family run business and it shows that the chef takes pride in his food.

We both had the steak burrito and found it to be huge and very good. The service was good and the price is reasonable. I highly recommend this location for some good serious Mexican grub. We will be back.

Bae and I discovered this place on our very first trip down to my dad’s house in Florida and have been back to visit every time we are back in town. This is my favourite Mexican restaurant in the world, hands down. The food quality and consistency has remained the same for the past five years we have to come to visit, we have never had a bad meal here. I am also always shocked how reasonable the prices are here for the amount of amazing food we get. My top pick for menu items to order are the tamales, guacamole, chille relleno, and posole — all outstanding. The food arrives hot and fresh, every single time. Their tres leches cake is also incredible, I recommend grabbing a slice to go if you are too stuffed to eat in the restaurant! I noticed other reviews about the service — we have never experienced an issue here. The waitress is a bit on the quiet side but she is nice, just be nice to her too and you will be fine! ;) Wish they would ship their tamales to Toronto, they are so good! Until we meet again, Azteza!

Food is delicious and made rather quickly, especially to-go orders. Décor is cute and the place is big enough for a large gathering. Dine in experience is subpar. The owner and his wife are friendly, the young girl who works the counter could be more welcoming. Will continue to dine here as the quality of the food outweighs the service.

We tried this restaurant with our family(12 adults) and even though we called and made reservations, we couldn’t all be seated at the same table. We had frozen strawberry margaritas which seemed a little light on the tequila but were tasty. I ordered the burrito which was good and big enough I couldn’t eat it all. My wife likes flantas(sp) but they don’t have them. She got ordered tacos and was very pleased with them. Everyone enjoyed their food, even my brother in law who doesn’t care for Mexican food. I thought the food was outstanding and to top it off they have a three piece Mexican band that plays at the tables for tips. Our wait staff were outstanding and gave us the best service even though we had a large group. I thought the prices were reasonable and will definitely be going back. We were disappointed in not being able to sit together but they put us close enough together that we could communicate effectively with the entire group.

Amazing! Every single time. The food is always SO fresh and delicious. We’ve tried other Mexican restaurants in Cape Coral and nothing compares. Sometimes the service can be a little slower than some like but I promise youre in for a treat! That’s what you get when the family is running the entire place by themselves. Favorite Mexican food by far. Try the guac!

This place is never open during its hours. I’ve traveled several times from pretty far. Really unacceptable no matter how good the food is. It’s too bad because they might have a good thing going. I have tried at least 4 times to see no one is there during the posted hours. Awful.

I very nearly didn’t eat here at all because could not find the entrance and believed the place to be closed. I pulled into the lot, got out of my car and walked to the door, which was locked. Since moving down here I have noticed that it is frequently very difficult to determine if a business is open because everybody applies sun blocking films to their windows which causes it to appear from outside that the inside is dark. El Taqueria Azteza has taken the next step which is to apply a full wrap to all of their windows. On the positive side there is no doubt about what kind of place they are because the wrap has artwork which demonstrates this. On the negative one cannot see into the place. As mentioned above, I pulled on the door handle and it was locked. This was odd because the hours were clearly posted on this door and I was definitely there between the posted hours. I turned around and walked back to my car to try somewhere else. Just as I was about to get in, a man(who was probably a neighboring business owner) told me that there was a second door to the place. Sure enough, there was. I entered again and this time found myself in the dining area. I went to the counter where there was a woman looking at me. I suggested that perhaps they should put a sign on the first door about there being a second entrance(or unlock that door) and she dismissed both suggestions as a) there was a sign and nobody cared so they took it down and b) the locked door is too close to the kitchen and people would enter and walk into the kitchen(a possibility but also easily rectified). Whatever. I sat at the counter(because there were chairs there) and the woman told me that the counter was not for customer dining. She pointed out the tables and I sat at one. The actual food was quite good, once I finally got to eat it.

Best authentic Mexican food in the Cape. Period. The burritos are absolutely delicious and are worth a try. I keep returning to Azteca because the flavor is incomparable to other nearby restaurants. It has a friendly staff and is perfect to bring your family for some tasty food. Azteca is definitely a gem in Cape Coral and should be on your list for great Mexican food.

We have been coming to this restaurant for almost 3 years and it is the highlight of my visit to Cape Coral. I was sad to read some of the reviews as we have come to love this restaurant. I have NEVER had bad service here. The beauty of this place is that it is family owned and operated and the woman who runs the show there is also the owner… her ex is the chef and the food is AMAZING!!! True authentic flavorful Mexican food at an unbeatble price. I don’t mind waiting a little if I know it’s because they are busy preparing a FRESHREAL Mexican dish! The sopas are outrageous, the chicken mole is out of this world and I have NEVER had a bad meal here in three years! I would say we are there at least 6 times a year!!!

My wife and I eat here once every couple of weeks. The food is excellent. Service(as noted in other reviews) could be better but it’s a small operation and they do a good take-out business so they are very busy in the kitchen/back room. I would highly recommend El Taqueria Azteza to anyone looking for very good, homemade Mexican food.

I would love to give this place 4 stars but the service was sub-par and I ordered the burrito la mexicana and it was 90% rice a complete disappointment. The taste was great but for a $ 8 burrito there was probably an once of meat.

Food was very good here the second time I dropped in. From the guacamole to the salsa and tortillas. Rice and beans were good also. Chicken mole & carne asada sopes were super tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely will be back again. Ice cold beer $ 2.50 a bottle was a deal. Food prices were the lowest in Florida that I’ve seen for Mexican food so far.

If one looks at my reviews her on Unilocal, they are overwhelmingly positive. This place really deserves a poor one. It is as bad as can get. One star because the door was open. That earned this establishment the one star that Unilocal requires. Ironically, I drove to this business because they had good Unilocal reviews. It was a bad experience. First, I cannot comment on the food as we never received any. We sat for 35 mins, and never ever received drinks. After waiting too long for the ONLY server, who obviously was unhappy being there, we placed a drink order. When she finally returned to the dining area, we cancelled them since none of the the other 5 tables we saw had received food in the 30 mins that we were present. I feel bad in a way for the server who was alone; But we saw no kitchen staff either. I am not sure what was happening here, but something was wrong. The tables were not clean, the place smelled of a toilet, there was food left at tables with flys. The only thing I can positive about this place, was that it was authentic in one way: the filth of a Mexican border town. Only a matter of time before it is closed?

Walked in. They had one server on the floor. Nearly every table was filled. No manager or any other employee in sight for that matter. First thing I sit at the table and my pants catch on a piece of hardware that had been serving no purpose and they rip., server comes by after about 5 mins with a slight attitude and takes our drink order. After 25 more minutes still no drinks or acknowledgment that they were on the way we left. I will never get that 30 minutes of my life back and my jeans are also trash. Thanks azteca.

Finally we have made it back to our favourite Mexican Restaurant in Cape Coral. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for years and were disappointed to see the recent reviews… So we decided to check out our old haunt again and it was incredible as always, food was fresh and delicious! Everything from the salsas to the desserts are on point and very tasty! I had the Guacamole(YUM!), Tacos, and a Chorizo Tostada(my favourite! Mmm!) not sure if the previous reviewers came on an off day, but as always for us was an incredible experience at El Azteca Taqueria. Well worth the 2082 Mile trip!
