Jill’s Cakes & Bakes

I am Attending a cookout tonight and was on the search for an assortment of goodies ;) The gentleman was sooooo friendly and helpful! I walked out with 3 trays of peanut butter balls, cupcakes and cookies! I will be back :)

I walked into this great little bakery. All the desserts looked great: cupcakes, cookies, and a lot more. I got a raspberry turnover. Absolutely loved it and I will be going back for that and more.

I’ve been meaning to stop in for a while and finally got a chance this morning. I was a little hesitant after reading some other reviews; especially when a gentleman walked out of the back to take my order. He was perfectly pleasant and polite. He smiled plenty.
I asked about the 6 free cupcakes the owner promised to anyone mentioning a review she had replied in and he wasn’t familiar with it but once I pulled it up he was perfectly obliging. I bought a slice of coconut cake ($ 4) to unlock the two free cupcakes but didn’t feel right about using it right then. The 6 free cupcakes I chose were:
Funfetti: not too bad, they pipe icing into the center as well as on top which is a lot of Icing for my taste but if that’s you’re thing then you’ll love these cupcakes.
Chocolate peanut butter: tasted like a devils food cake cupcake so it wasn’t too sweet which was fine, again, lots of icing.
Ho-​ho: these were probably my best pick out of the bunch, they have an artificial whipped cream icing with chocolate over it and were pretty good.
Chocolate wedding cake: again Devils food cake so not too sweet with the same amount of icing as the others.
All in all the cupcakes were okay. I took them to my husbands work and cut them in half so everyone could try them, no one complained except my husband but he’s pretty particular. If you were picking up cupcakes from here for a work function or a party I imagine they would be well received.
I will say that the icing contains shortening which is something to be aware of if you’re expecting a straight butter icing. That’s not uncommon in the south though so I wasn’t surprised.
The coconut cake was good, lots of icing so if you’re an icing junkie this is definitely the place for you.
As someone who bakes a lot this won’t be my back up for when I’m not in the mood to make a cake but I won’t discourage people from going either, it’s not super amazing but it’s not bad either. Solid middle of the road.

We got an apple turnover, a cannoli and 2 free cupcakes with the Unilocal deal! It was really good, only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is the guy who helped us wasn’t the friendliest.

Today I had a few rare moments to myself before picking up kiddos from school and got a bit of a sweet tooth craving… I used Unilocal to find this local bakery and read the reviews. I did not read the dates when they were written but saw one where a lady said her cupcakes were not so hot and the owner replied saying she would give 6 free cupcakes to anyone who tried her cupcakes and judged for themselves. Well I love a bargain so I went in, ordered a cannoli and coffee and then told the guy working there about the cupcake comment… he read the review and said sorry he didn’t know anything about it because the post was from 2013, but that it wasn’t a problem and honored the offer. Ok. WOW…the cannoli is to die for! The coffee WAS fresh at 3PM. I don’t know about the cupcakes yet because I am over forty and cannot eat 2 desserts in 1 day, however, my children are honest critics and can’t wait to hear what they think about them… Thanks Jill, I will be back!

I ate here for a dessert after eating at the next door bistro. I am so glad I did. I visited New York City a few years ago and had my first cannoli there and ever since I’ve been searching for a good one back home. Trust me I have tried others everywhere in Georgia but NONE had that same taste I was looking for. Until TODAY! I bought a cannoli here and it was big, creamy and wonderful ! Many other places cannolis the creamy filling was poweredy and chalky but this was delicious. And to make it even better I came on Unilocal while still at the bakery to rave about its awesome-​ness and saw the offer for two free cupcakes with any purchase. They honored the deal and now I am taking my two cupcakes home and will update the review after trying them! I can’t wait!

Jill’s ROCK! The little cake bites are scrumptious. Moist and they all taste different. They should taste differently but some baked goods all taste similar. These do not. We had cupcakes, little bites and cinnamon buns. All were amazing. A real hem in our little town. Yum!

UPDATE: The owner contacted me this afternoon. I asked for a refund and she assured me she would accommodate.
While I would be cautious of ordering last minute without a picture of my expectation, I appreciate that the refund is in the works.

Ordinarily Jill’s cakes and cupcakes are fantastic!
But…recently I was disappointed to find my cupcakes very hard and not fresh when I got them home. Usually super delicious… everyone has a bad day now & then:)

I have sampled almost everything at Jill’s over the last several years. I have seen a few of her wedding cakes and they’re gorgeous! I have never been disappointed and highly recommend anything chocolate or the carrot cake cupcake. Love cream cheese frosting! Plus, the ladies there are sweet and really want their customers to enjoy their product.
