We stopped in at the Bistro after a long day. We ordered the clams and bruscheta as an appetizer and they were delightful. For the main course we had Ravioli, Linguini and Prawns. All menu items ordered exceed expectations. The server, a great fellow from England, was a fantastic server. This was a great experience from start to finish. Glad we stopped in.

Had a horrible experience. From out of town with a girlfriend for the weekend. Walk in and are taking a look around at the atmosphere. A woman standing at the bar turns around and says with an attitude,“can I help you?” We politely say we are new in town and just checking it out maybe any to grab a drink. She tells us they look pretty full and the bar top was full but there were tables. She gave us the impression she didn’t want us there. We said we would sit at the window table for drinks. Before she would seat us wanted to make sure we had ID. I mind you this is not a club this is a wine bar where you grab dinner, drinks, and maybe an app. We showed her of course. Then proceeded to get ID’d again by our waiter. We mention that we felt very disrespected. Come to find the woman is the owner. I am in the restaurant industry and have never felt such disrespect. Never coming back and telling all my friends in town about this. Maybe if it becomes under new ownership

Two stars for only the great drink that was made! When I received our bill of 38.00 for only four drinks my boyfriend and I realized the place was out of our price range and tried to leave quietly. The hostess who I already heard be rude to another customer commented to my boyfriend that I asked for top shelve. nope! Did not! Either way you should never be rude to a customer even if they decide to go else where!

Where excellent food meets middle of the road hospitality. Let me start by saying the crab cakes here are AMAZING! Also let me say this restaurant is a bit more upscale than most in Cannon beach(we definitely were not dressed for the atmosphere) so you’ll want to dress up a bit for dinner Upon entering this quaint establishment we waited to be greeted(we had a reservation but we’re about 20 min early) the bar is directly in front of the door and it was odd for the bartender to not say hi or «someone will be with you shortly» or something… any thing(mind you the bartender was not super busy) not a word. We were finally greeted by a hostess and politely directed to the bar until our table was ready. We were seated promptly at 8. Our server was very quite and seemed cold at first but did warm up by the end of the meal. I ordered the ravioli– which was very good and a decent price point. My husband ordered the Mexican prawns with linguine and enjoyed the flavor but felt it was very overpriced. Overall the the food was great and service was good but the overall vibe of the place is not super friendly. The live guitar player was a nice touch. I would go back for a drink and crab cakes… did I mention the crab cakes are AMAZING!

Amazing! Crab cakes were hard to resist. I had the lamb and I pretty much licked the plate. My husband had seafood stew which we ate about a whole loaf of bread just dipping it in the broth as we did not want any of it to go to waste. OMG. Service was great, live music on Saturday night. Quaint and perfect.

The customer service at this establishment is ridiculous! I don’t know how people tolerate to eat here. I called to place an order to pick up(I googled the menu, and was reading off of what was online because they don’t have a website.) and the waitress was very helpful but stated their menu has changed and the placed me on hold. A different person was on the phone now, and I started repeating the order I told the last employee, the employee that was on the phone now was completely unprofessional and was cutting me off every time I spoke and was being absolutely rude, I finally hung up because she was being ridiculous! I called back to speak to a manager about this issue because I was in disbelief and then the rude employee I spoke to(Anita, so she stated) is the manager. I let her know how unacceptable that was and how completely rude she was being, she then proceeded to chuckle a say«do you feel better honey?» I couldn’t believe what I just heard, I hung up because I was so upset I don’t know what kind of owner would let a manager speak to customers this way! How are they even still open! I would never recommend this restaurant to anybody!!! Unbelievable! If they are employing people like this, they should just shut their doors because they aren’t gonna get very far with how they are conducting business now

Awesome. Wonderful food, beautiful ambience, friendly staff. We had the steak and the butternut squash ravioli. The homemade ice cream was among the best we’ve ever had. A well-kept secret!

This restaurant is wonderful, with great customer service, and quality, well-presented food. I come to Cannon Beach every year for my anniversary weekend getaway, and every year I always think this restaurant is closed. It’s always dark, I can hardly see the open sign if it’s up at all, and the restaurant itself is tucked away in a shadow. In the past, whenever I thought I saw a glimmer of activity in there, I just figured they were waiters cleaning up. But this year, our 8th anniversary, we decided to look in the windows to see what it looked like inside thinking ‘maybe it’s a breakfast-lunch restaurant that we can try in the morning?’ But there were people in there, the menu looked fantastic, and we were freezing our buns off in the cold wind and rain. So we tried the door… so glad we did! Probably the best customer service I’ve had from a waitress. I wish I remembered her name, but she seems genuinely happy to be there. Happy to make recommendations, and answer questions. She didn’t cut us off mid-chew to ask about our meal, or offer us wine over and over again. She was just so pleasant. And the food was beautiful! We went there twice over the weekend, and I highly recommend the pumpkin and goat cheese ravioli, the lemon chicken broth soup, the Wagyu steak, and the big scallops with butternut squash risotto. My husband was so in love with that risotto, he cleaned his plate like it was his last meal. Out of all the restaurants in the area, some with higher prices(Wayfarer) or reputations for greatness but a run-down look(Driftwood), this one is leaps and bounds above the rest. If you want a quality, delicious, intimate dining experience, without the outrageous prices, Bistro is your place.

Couldn’t have been more pleased with this lovely restaurant. From the live music to our wonderful server Ely we had a fantastic experience. Started with the bistro salad that was great. I had the seafood stew and it was awesome. Huge mussels, clams, prawns and scallops. My wife has the steak and it was perfectly cooked. For dessert the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Reservations recommended. We were expected, greeted warmly, seated quickly. Food and service were both excellent. We enjoyed the steamed clams, roasted cauliflower, linguine, and seafood stew. The live music was a local gentleman playing classical guitar. Had a very enjoyable time.

I am a vineyard owner and events manager. I loved the food and was dining alone early so had no issues with my delicious Pear, walnut, blue cheese salad or fabulous Seafood Stew. Lovely restaurant helpful service. What I am observing is the poor service that happened when the restaurant got busy at 7pm. Table of 8 no wine service for 30 minutes(they all started looking at their devices). 1 harried waitress trying to serve multiple 4 and 2 top seating with no back up. Hostess resetting tables with no ability for customer back up service. Avoid this restaurant unless you’re not thirsty or dine very early.

I thought this was GREAT. My go to restaurant is The Irish Table but they were closed for a week’s vacationa nd the folks at The Sleepy Monk recommended it to us. A little unsure of how welcoming theyd be of us, such a dyke-y pair, but our server Sal was amazingly kind, had great eye contact, and brought us two baskets of fresh french bread! Good thing, too, as I was certainly hangry. The pear salad was delicious, the crab and mac with no crab was tasty and only $ 11, and our rum chocolate flourless cake with seedless raspberry sauce was INCREDIBLE. I actually loved the décor, too. We were sitting what felt like with the table next two us, who had a pair of grumpy middle schoolers. Oh well, they were entertaining?!

We had great service and the food was very good though I do have to say that the Mac and crab is indeed runny as mentioned in other reviews; not as rich as you’d expect but still flavorful.

great food, cool atmosphere, great staff, particularly the bartender! the only reason i did not rate it 5 stars wass that the manager was sitting at the bar chatting with some customers and was saying negative things about Unilocal.:(i informed her that responsible Unilocalers will go back and rerate restaurants, and that she can reach out to Unilocalers to clear up issues. i just thought that in poor taste, because you never know who you are sitting next to… me! an elite Unilocaler! oh well, it is still one of the best restaurants in cannon beach!

So apparently this place does not want to feed people or something. I am looking at their hours here and we looked at their site…10pm close time for Sunday nights… We arrived prior to 9pm and were confused because at first we did not see anyone but could see candles lit and a TV on. We went inside and a waiter practically rolled his eyes at us. My husband asked if they were closed and he said yes… and then we realized there were other couples in there dining. By the look of other reviews we probably were saved an overpriced snotty meal.

It is disappointing to see how after receiving feedback from other reviewers, Bistro Restaurant & Bar continues to have staff who deliver subpar, rude service. My friends and I arrived at Bistro around 5:40 pm on a Saturday evening. We were greeted by the bar tender, who advised us the hostess was on her way to seat us. When she greeted us, she looked through her book and informed us there were no tables available. However, she then offered that if we could finish our meal and be out by 7:30pm, we could take one of the tables. We agreed to that and as we approached the table, she told us we could actually sit in the bar area, if we’re over 21, as there were two empty tables she could put together for us. This way, we wouldn’t have to feel rushed. We happily agreed to that option. We were seated, and a friendly server came to bring the table a round of waters and menus. At this time, it was still well before 6 pm, so we wanted to have a look at the happy-hour menu. When my friend finally caught the attention of a server(not the friendly one) and asked if she could order from the happy-hour menu, the server looked around the room and then up at the clock hanging on the wall. «Hm…it’s 10 to 6… sorry, happy hour is over.» It was 5:50pm. Happy hour ends at 6pm. The other guests at the bar who overheard quickly exclaimed, «Really?!» and we saw the server head over to mutter something to the guests. At this point, we were annoyed because there was clearly preferential treatment. Luckily, the bar tender rushed over with the happy-hour menu, and he informed us we could still order any of the drinks off the menu. After that a substantial amount of time passed and no one came to take our order. We discussed the thought of just leaving to look for another restaurant, and at that moment the bar tender came around the bar to serve us(because he noticed no one was caring for our table). I must mention that the bar tender was clearly juggling many hats, and there should’ve been at least another server actively managing the bar area with him. Our orders came and the food was good – things were starting to look up. After we finished our meals, we were too full for dessert, but my friend did order a scotch to end the night with. Before she was even done her drink the hostess that first greeted us approached our table and started clearing everything off of it, while asking if she could offer us anything else. We politely said no, and she proceeded to tell us, «so, it’s almost 7:30 and we had a deal.» We were absolutely appalled by how rude she was. Firstly, you do not tell your customers that there was a «deal» to have the table back. Secondly, there was no deal as we opted for the bar area so we wouldn’t feel rushed to leave by 7:30. Thirdly, my friend wasn’t even done her drink! It was most unfortunate that this hostess lacks basic courtesy and tact, particularly in the hospitality industry. The saving grace was really the bar tender. Without him, I would be offering barely a star for the horrible service, which left us with a bad taste in our mouths. What a disappointment.

My fiancé and I had arrived late to cannon beach for new years and found that most of the restaurants were booked solid. We called the bistro and found that they could seat us right away. Our server, Christian, was attentive but not overbearing. All of our food was absolutely delicious and the ambience was perfect. The guitar player was the perfect touch. They really made our night special from start to finish. Plus, their wine selection was spot on.

We stopped in here for a drink and a snack on a brisk, fall Saturday night. We were lured in by a lit meandering brick sidewalk and the promise of live music. It did not disappoint. Classic guitar, light conversations, romantic lighting, a friendly staff made this trip a success. The champagne and old fashioned were the cherry on top of this delightful yet quaint bistro.

I had a bad feeling about this place from the get go. When I called them to see about reservations for a large party, the man on the phone made it sound like he was doing us a favor by allowing us to dine there. After getting off the phone with the rude and less than helpful man I decided not to waste my time with the Bistro. Unfortunately one of the members of the dinner really liked the Bistro and was very adamant about going there. When I called back a second time to set up an appointment, I got a woman on the line. She was actually very nice and helpful and I felt much better about making a reservation with them. When we arrived, our tables were set up and we had multiple servers and runners helping us out since we had a large party. Unlike my initial interaction with them, it wasn’t the service or the rudeness that turned me off to them this time, it was the food. I ordered the pork chop. It came out thick and on the bone so I was very excited to bite into it. This was the second worst pork chop I had ever eaten. The worst being in a dive bar in SE Portland that was less than a third of the price. I really don’t know how you can ruin a pork chop like this. It looked like a great cut so I can only imagine it was overcooked and/or left underneath a heat lamp for an extended period of time as the other dishes were prepared. The potatoes that came with it were no better. I swapped some of my pork chop for some of the steak of the person sitting next to me. He had ordered his medium-rare, but it was cooked to medium-well or well. Either way it was also tough and chewy. Really just terrible. I ordered the panna cotta for dessert and it wasn’t any better. The syrup on top was far too thick and sweet and the panna cotta itself was dull with an odd texture. Not only was it a terrible meal, but for the price I was greatly disappointed. One of the most disappointing meals I had had in sometime.
