Had some doubt going in. But so glad I did! The food here is delicious! I got some Chile Verde tacos that were bomb! And my friend ordered the carnita nachos. The carnitas tasted super fresh, as if they had JUST finished frying them! Everything we ordered was just super delicious and authentic!

Very good value, good food. We had seafood enchiladas in delicious verde sauce, chili rellenos, and beef enchilada in verde too. It is a very casual place with limited seating but the food and service were so good, we will be back.

Before i begin, I think it’s important to mention that the service here is refreshingly friendly and down to earth. Moving on, I suppose this is a review of Unilocal just as much as it is a review of Medusa’s. Unilocal recommended this establishment as one of the highest rated spots in the local area, and I think four stars fits this place perfectly. The rice is excellent, the salsa is fresh, the enchiladas are cheeeesy, and the tacos are tasty… exactly what is required of any Mexican establishment, plus it offers service with a smile. If I were local, I’d return, but instead I’ll leave this review so you will decide to enjoy it, too.

Not fancy, but delicious and have friendly staff. Food is not expensive at all. The size of the meal is big enough.

My fiancée and I had dinner here weekend before last,(4÷2÷16). It was our first visit, but won’t be our last. We actually decided to go here, rather than another Mexican restaurant in town, after looking at pictures of the food from other Unilocalers. Medusa’s also offers Aguas frescas(horchata, jamaica, and tamarindo) all made from scratch, whereas the other establishment we considered going to only had soft drinks. This made it feel more authentic, and I could satisfy that craving I always have for jamaica when I eat mexican food. It’s a small place and every table was occupied when we arrived. Good sign. The friendly guy waiting tables, working the cash register, sending orders to the kitchen, and answering the phone all on his own handled it like a boss. There were maybe 3 other employees, I want to say 2 cooks and a busser, and the service all-around was exemplary. Like I said it’s a small restaurant, so this was enough employees to provide excellent service. It’s a casual establishment as well, so keep that in mind in case you wanted something romantic or more upscale. It is very clean though, and if you’re just looking for a quick, delicious meal with good service, this is the place for you. Anyways, our order was put in while we waited for a table. It ended up being about 5, certainly no more than 10 minutes before we were seated. Chips and salsa and our drinks were brought out promptly. The chips were so fresh and still hot. It tasted like they make fresh, homemade tortillas every day to use for the chips. The salsa was super fresh tasting as well and had excellent flavor with a little heat. I had a jamaica and then a tamarindo, both tasted very fresh and delicious. Our food came, I had a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. After the first bite, I wished I had ordered more food. It was so good! The enchilada sauce was flavorful and perfect, the beans(topped with queso fresco) and rice were very delicious. My fiancée’s taquitos came with guacamole, she doesn’t eat it so I helped myself to it and it was insanely good as well. She said her taquitos were very good. We both cleaned our plates. The server came to check on us a couple of times to make sure we were satisfied, and seemed genuinely happy that we had such a great experience. He was great. It’s really the small touches that make an experience remarkable and sets it apart from the competition. The fact that they offer aguas frescas made it seem more authentic, like you were eating at someone’s home and they wanted you to experience and appreciate the culture, rather than just having a soft drink from the soda fountain(although that is an option). Queso fresco on top of refried beans is the best way to eat them as a side dish(in my opinion), so I was impressed and very happy with that small touch as well. It’s apparent that they care about the food they are serving, as well as the guest’s satisfaction. The fact that each item I tasted, tasted so fresh, is exactly what every restaurant should aim for. Small touches are everything. Thanks, Medusa’s, for our delicious dinner and top-notch service. We will be sure to return when we are in the area and recommend it to others!

After a long day at Hearst Castle we decided to stop here for some food. We were starving so we decided on the Molcajete for $ 22 which came out to $ 24 after tax. Its a plate for two of carne asada, chicken, cactus, shrimp, tortillas, beans and rice. We got there 20 min. before closing so we decided to take it to go. The guy who took our order was very polite. It was pretty busy so we expected a long wait. We ended up waiting 45 min. Which messed up our plans to go to the bar afterward because by that time it was already about to close. We were upset but the guy was nice and he apologized for the wait so we didn’t say anything. We finally got our food and headed back to the hotel to find that we were missing the rice and beans. We called the restaurant and the same guy picked up. He apologized and said we could go pick up the sides or he could refund us the money. We were hungry and tired by this time so we said we would stop by the next day. He said he would leave a note for his sister. The plate only had two shrimp so we basically ate a few pieces of carne asada and chicken wrapped in tortillas which was upsetting since we were looking forward to a complete meal. It was definitely not enough to fill us up. The next day we arrive for our refund and the sister says they can’t refund our money they can only give us rice and beans. I was still polite despite the attitude she was giving us and told her that her brother had stated we could get a refund. She rolled her eyes and agreed but she said she could only give us $ 2.95. We took the money and walked out the door. We basically paid $ 22 for a small amount of meat in tortillas, such a ripoff! Never going there again! I’m all for supporting Mom and Pop shops but don’t hire your daughter if she doesn’t know anything about customer service. I am a very understanding person but if a mistake is made then correct it and at least pretend to be pleasant about it.

We had a wonderful day cruising the coast and enjoying beaches. Looking for great takeout and followed the 4 star. I phoned in a takeout order with specific instructions for an extremely sensitive dairy free child. No cheese! Confirmed at pick up once again. Only to drive back to hotel there was cheese in our burrito. I called back as they closed and the employee said«the only thing I can do is give you your money back. Oh and by the way I didn’t charge you extra for the grilled chicken.» I was shocked. Explained to him that we have an emergent situation if our child has dairy and he never apologized once. Warning to all who have families and allergies. I use Unilocal whenever I go, this is no 4 star.

Food here is pretty authentic«food truck» style, but with a clean comfortable place to eat it. Still, the best things we’ve had are the breakfast burritos — filling and delicious with plenty of good meats(chorizo is my favorite). Seems to be a pretty steady flow of customers at all hours of the day. Our routine during our 4 day stay in Cambria quickly embraced the morning trip to Medusa’s to pick up breakfast burritos. I really wanted to try their Pozole, which was available on the one day we didn’t have time for me to enjoy the soup… Next trip! And I think they also have Menudo on Saturdays.

We were excited to find a Mexican restaurant in this quaint town that had a great Unilocal reviews and low advertised prices. We researched on Unilocal and then went to their online menu to see what they had to offer. Fajitas for $ 11.75! Sign me up! We waited for our food, standing room only because there are only 4 tables, but it smelled good so we did not mind. They have a system where they make the food and you pay after it is made and ready to go, so when it came time to pay he told us our total was $ 15.05 with tax. We told him we had come across town, passing several other mexican restaraunts to eat at his, could he honor the price that was advertised online? He said no and told us we could pay the price or not. We politely said no thank you and walked out the door. We had the money but it was the point that they advertised one thing and charged another, and we’re rude about it to boot. About 5 seconds after walking out the door the guy comes out and yells at us, we turn around thinking he was going to honor the price and he starts cussing and screaming in a rage at us and saying really innopropriate things… Bad business, it doesn’t matter if he was the owner or the worker. Either way.

I was wanting Menudo for breakfast the next morning and asked another Mexican restaurant if they served Menudo, they said No but Medusa’s has it. The next morning we stop by and was greeted by a friendly gentlemen the owner maybe. I ordered Menudo the spicy soup had good Mexican flavor. My wife ordered Chile Relleno with extra cheese and extra sauce. Wow this is the Best Chile Relleno ever and we have had them all around California and Nevada. The salsa was outstanding with taste. That night we were planning on coming back Sunday Morning but they are closed on Sundays. This is a must try restaurant!

Wife and I had craving for Mexican so we decided to go here for breakfast, we both had huevos rancheros they were GREAT, the sauce was tasty just the perfect amount of spicy, beans were good sprinkled with cheese… But they served the dish with a side of «hash browns»…ouch did I miss something??? This is a Mexican dish right? I was expecting rice or maybe some guacamole with a handful of chips. Well hopefully they’ll read this and make a slight adjustment. I’ll be back but if I get hash browns again it will be my last.

Do yourself a favor and start your day in Cambria here! Breakfast burrito with chorizo is perfection… Just the right mix of chorizo, egg, crispy potato, and cheese. The sausage breakfast burrito is good too, but the chorizo makes this one a home run! Go straight for the chile de arbol… I know the sign says it’s extremely spicy, and it is, but so flavorful it’s worth the burn. They also make a fantastic breakfast torta. Not on the menu, but they will make it for you if you ask nicely! The bread is soft and delicious! Smothered with beans, avocado, chorizo, crispy lettuce, eggs, jalapeños, and onion. A hidden gem right on Main St! And likely the most reasonably priced meal you will eat in Cambria, too.

This is not a fancy restaurant — more of a dive but the food is solid and reasonably priced. The combo platter with enchilladas and tamales was very good — helped by a nice red sauce. For dessert we ordered the flan which was smooth and creamy. The food came out lightning fast.

My eight year old decreed, «Mom, you HAVE to give them a good review on Unilocal!!!» This is a tiny mom and pop place with authentic Mexican food. You know that you are in for a treat when you are served homemade chips that are fresh from the oil. Yummy! My twelve year old daughter said, «the shrimp are the best I have ever had!!”(please imagine that statement full of teenage attitude and drama) Happy patents, happy kids… we will be back the next time we are in Cambria.

As some of the other reviews mention, this is a real deal Mexican café. We were born and raised in SoCal and spent a lot of time in Mexico. So, we know the difference between a Mexican American restaurant with«combo» meals and a place where Mexican want to find home style food. This place is the later. If you are looking for Cambria tourist fancy or chic, cross this off your list. If you want some good, authentic Mexican cooking, give this place a shot!

This place is amazing. A legit Mexican food restaurant with high quality food. When you walk in it looks like a café, but the service is great and the food is even better. The salsa is really good. Carne Asada, shrimp tacos, shredded beef and fish tacos were all a hit. Don’t miss this place if you’re hungry.

Nice little Mexican Restaurant in Cambria. I had heard about the breakfast burritos and went to try one. Alas I saw Chili Verde and had to go with that. The Chili Verde supreme burrito has all the usual goodies I have come to expect in a burrito and I will say the nice chunks if pork were cooked just right. I personally will need a bit more heat next time, I will jut have to ask. I got mine to go so I could sit by the beach and enjoy the lovely sunny day and the burrito made it a special trip to Cambria. The burrito was huge and even came with chips and salsa. I like that and will be back to test out the restaurant side. Only 4 tables in the place,. I really liked the mural on the wall and the huge menu on the wall and especially the salsa meter to tell you what style of salsa to order.(see it in the pictures. Gracias to Medusa’s

This place has really fresh Mexican food! Medusa is a great place to grab a cheap bite in Cambria. My rating is definitely closer to 3.5 stars, but the great service brings it up to a 4. I shared two dishes: — The Tostada was delicious! I got the regular with carnitas. Really fresh vegetables, great salsa, crisp shell, and yummy carnitas. Fab ratio too! I would definitely get this again. — The Tamales were just alright. The cornmeal ratio was a bit too high. I ended up taking just a few bites. This dish also comes with rice and beans. I’m not sure why, but the beans tasted really really good. And I don’t even like beans! DONOT come here if you’re looking for something quick to eat. I waited over 30mins for my food. And so did the people ordering take out! However, the server was sooo nice she made it hard for anyone to get annoyed. Really sweet and apologetic! Overall, I would definitely recommend Medusa to anyone in the area.
