Great food and service! My family and I just discovered Grapevine in Calabash and we are glad we did. A little too dark inside and can be loud on weekends, but they have great service and serve fresh food. I enjoy their bread and angel hair pasta dish.

Restaurant refused entry to a certified service dog trained to assist a Disabled person and the dog’s trainer from Canine Angels. The restaurant owner was rude and police were called when he took the trainers cell phone and refused to give it back. Trainer was trying to show the dog’s certification and local laws on the cell phone. If this restaurant is above serving people with disabilities, American vets — they won’t get my business! Shame on you!

My family has been frequenting Grapevine since their inception. My parents have lived at Sunset for many years and often dined there for business and pleasure purposes. Having been abroad for several years, I only get to go on occasion and it’s always a treat for my palate. The last visit(August 2015) was rather disappointing. The service was as poor as you could get, several requests for items that had been on the menu for over a decade were met with blank stares and the response«We don’t make that and never have», and when I asked for the owner by name to make note of the awful experience, I was told there was no such person. In the end, the food was fantastic as always and remains the only place in the area I will recommend for the best seafood on the coast. That recommendation now simply comes with a warning that service is questionable. I still look forward to my annual visits and truly hope they’ll sort out their wait staff concerns.

Relaxed atmosphere. Great food and people. Extensive wine list. Love the tuna and the Filet Neptune. Filet Mignon covered in Béarnaise, topped with shrimp and scallops. Mac the owner is very helpful, funny, and attentive to his guests. Ditch the typical fried Calabash seafood and eat the real seafood.

The food was excellent but the service was even better. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the entertainment of Sara the bartender! She has this infectious giggle that had me laughing all the out dinner which by the way was fantastic. You can the tell they remodeled the inside and Mac and his team did a real good job. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back again

Unfortunately I am reviewing a restaurant without having eaten their food. We called ahead before making a 30 mile drive, and we were told that even though we had a 7:00 reservation, we would most likely have a 20 minute wait. No problem, we were not in a hurry. We got caught in a heavy rain, and as a result we were 10 minutes late to the restaurant. When we ran in thru a driving rain, the owner rudely informed our party that he had given our table away, despite the fact that he had simply erased our name from the waiting list. He told us we should have arrived early, presumably so that we could wait longer. He was kind enough to tell us that we could put our name back on the list for a 45 min. to an hour wait. We decided that there were other places in the area that wanted our business. As an observation about the other reviews on Unilocal,I will only say that the food may be really good(hence the 4&5 star ratings) but the customer service is terrible.

Given the bum’s rush… Didn’t clear dishes from appetizers before plunking entrees down. Dinner«trigger fish» specials were over cooked. Two of us ordered that, both were dry. My Calabash special tasted and looked like it was made a week ago — so I sent it back and got a horrible plate of shrimp over pasta. See ya…

This was a wonderful meal. I had the filet and it was very flavorful and good to the last bite. Some people in my party had the full Calabash and they said the seafood was cooked perfectly. We all had clear plates at the end of our meal. The reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because I am pretty sure our waitress was serving the entire dining room at 5 p.m. This definitely limited the number of times she could come check on us and I did have to track her down for something at one point. This wasn’t her fault though, seems like a scheduling issue to me. I’m sure the owner was nice, but he didn’t seem to be helping the server and he definitely didn’t check on us. He was too busy chatting with what I’m assuming are regulars there.

Had the caesar salad with shrimp 12.95 and was not impressed. They used mini sautéed shrimp atop of a watery caesar dressing. I would have ordered something else had I known they were using tiny unflavorful ungrilled shrimp and not creamy dressing. I tasted my husbands Mediterranean pasta(19.95) and it was unmemorable. No fresh Parmesan only shakey cheese. Salad was worth 6.95, pasta 9.95. Sorry.

The owner is extremely friendly and genuinely interested in conversations with his clients. We visit this restaurant each time that we visit Ocean Isle Beach. We have never received a meal that doesn’t please each one of us! The food is heavenly!!! This restaurant is a must visit for anyone in the area! It was packed with locals too, which says a LOT to us about the quality of food and customer service too.

I was pleasantly surprised with my lunch at the Grapevine. My guy and I went here before a day at Sunset beach. I had a steak and cheese panini. It was really good. Made with steak tips and provolone cheese. It was much better than I was expecting. My guy got the fried shrimp lunch special. He was very happy with his meal, especially for the price. It was quite inexpensive for the quantity he got. The service was pleasant and prompt. I will definitely return here.

I ordered a rare steak«rare» the steak came out and the meat was grey I asked the waitress if it was old or something. After arguing with me about it. I asked her to bring me another one. As I wanted to provide them with an opportunity to make things right… Big Mistake. They brought another steak and the waitress stood in front of me at the table as if to watch me eat it, which is a bit strange, I cut it open, no red, No pink and not juice, Just grey sponge like meat. The owner came of and argued with me about the steak claiming it was«AGED» which it does not say on their menu and the call me a picky eater and refused to remove the charge from our bill of offer me something else on the menu. I went home hungry and ate Hot dogs… LOL!!! Right or Wrong this is HORRIBLE customer service. Be warned people, You had better like whats on your plate because that’s all you’re gonna get and if you don’t like it… Tough Tootles, THEYNEEDTHEIRMONEYATTHISPLACE!

Considering the near-monopoly of «Calabash style»(also known as fried) seafood in the immediate vicinity, it’s nice to have a place that can put something on your plate that isn’t battered and cooked in oil. Then again, if someone in your party is not yet sick of over-priced deep-fried fare, Grapevine will still happily indulge that(an option I seriously considered on this visit.) Everyone at my table ordered a variation of shrimp, and all were pleased with their meals. Three of us got a pasta and I had the grilled shrimp, which was very tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. Given the fact that Grapevine eschews the cultivated dockside dive look that so many other restaurants in the area employ(some authentically, others less so) for a more upscale aesthetic, I was surprised to see that their prices are somewhat lower. I’ll call this the best value I’ve seen in the area. All but one or two menu items are under $ 20 and portion sizes were appropriate. I call this a win.

Overall, I love this place. Introduced to this restaurant while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. The host and staff are always nice. I have never had to wait for a table. The food is very good. The seafood tastes fresh and pasta is always a joy. The dishes are always very big. There is little parking along the restaurant, but across the street there is parking.

Excellent staff, with tons of personality, and they all are very good at what they do! The food is insanely delicious, and they carry a vast array of great wines, as well as a fully stocked bar. Love this restaurant. They have excellent food and a great atmosphere. My favorite meal is the blackened chicken on greek salad. The prices are a little higher than most places but the food is fresh and consistent. Also the owner who is very nice comes around to the table to make sure your enjoying your meal.
