Great breakfast place! Lots of choices to please anyone. I had the Hash Benedict(corned beef hash instead of Canadian bacon like normal eggs benedict) SOGOOD! great prices, friendly staff.

So looking around on Unilocal before my annual Ocean Isle Beach trip this year, I came across George’s Pancake House. It looked like the kind of breakfast I’d go for so I bookmarked it and when down there I made it a point to go there one morning. I’m glad I did, good choice. It’s a 10 – 15 minute drive down from OIB but Chris M. and I agreed it was worth the trip to Calabash for some good classic breakfast fare. When coming into Calabash and seeing George’s, you are greeted with a good ol’ classic George’s Pancake House old school sign. Pretty reasonable parking but I can see as the morning goes on it would get full fast. Inside, you are met with a very 60’s-70’s retro type diner/restaurant type feeling. I personally like these places for my morning meal visits, usually means good basic diner breakfasts are served here. I was correct on this one. Plenty of menu choices for whatever you fancy for your meals, and if you want a true Southern diner type breakfast then you can get any combination of it here. I had to get the pancakes of course, and they did not fail me one bit. Excellent pancakes! I could have eaten a stack more. I also ordered a sausage and Swiss omelet, it was huge in portion and very tasty as well. They were a bit late getting that omelet out to me but it was not a long forever wait, and it was hot and fresh. Our server was friendly and accommodating throughout our visit. I was very satisfied with my morning meal here! Bottom line: A good old diner/Southern beach breakfast is what you will find at George’s Pancake House. Nice retro feel and atmosphere. Great meal portions, and yes, the pancakes themselves are worth coming here for as they were awesome. I am a fan!

I found the staff very friendly with okay service. The omelettes lacked flavor and the pancakes I believe where made with preservatives only. If you are looking for something fresh then ask for your toast to be served dry and the drink water. Sorry George’s.
