Make sure you do a thorough exam of your car before driving off the lot. I’m positive the hood of my car was damaged while being serviced, but they can claim ZERO responsibility since I only noticed right after leaving their lot.

I have been a loyal VW driver for over 40 years, and recently I accompanied a friend to Burlingame Volvo who wanted to check the options for replacing her older model Volvo.
Ash Custodio helped us, and I know his great service, nice presence, knowledge and, most importantly, his easy-​going, non-​pressured way «sold me» on a Volvo!
I went back last weekend, met with Ash, and drove away in a 2016 XC60 Volvo!

This place seems to be moribund, not many people looking at cars but that’s not my reason for giving these guys a 1 (if I could I would give them a –10)
We are looking for an SUV and when we showed up the sales manager Mike Krewer, seem to be put off or interrupted when we asked questions, his answers were demeaning, sarcastic and simply RUDE.
We asked if we could test drive one of the cars and he brought a salesman who was much better,
But the damage had been done and even when the salesman asked clarification questions the sales manager was indifferent and answered most questions with his back turned to us.
Every time the salesman would say that we could get a good deal the sales manager response was a put down and would add that the good deals were only available on Leases even though we repeatedly said we are paying cash for the car.
A total disappointment given the good Putnam name in Burlingame.
This sales manager is a throw back to the «USED CAR SALESMEN» mentality, he made no effort to asked questions of us but rather was confrontational and an idiot. I would never buy a car from this place.
Don’t waste your time dealing with Volvo of Burlingame. I certainly hope this was not a case of prejudice or racism given the fact that I’m Hispanic, but yet educated and a professional.

Poor customer service and lack of professionalism. My husband and I were in the market for an XC60 and went to their dealership on a Sunday to look at a few of the preowned models. Both the sales person and sales manager seemed very uninterested in helping us and even seemed a little put off when we asked to test drive one. Even with that being said, my husband and I loved the vehicle and were ready to make an offer that night. We had a trade and they were only willing to give us just a fraction of what our trade was worth. We left thinking they would at least give us a follow up call the next day or week, even if just to thank us for coming in, but never heard from them again. We ended up purchasing an XC60 at another dealership that seemed more in the business of wanting to sell cars and gave us a fair price for our trade and new vehicle.

Bought our XC90 today… wonderful service by Dante, Cartier, and Mike… thank you gentlemen! !!

Volvo at Burlingame was totally amazing when it comes to service. Ash, our salesman, was absolutely phenomenal; professional, kind and informative. This applies to not only the day of test-​driving, but also after the purchase. Able to answer even the most naïve questions. Would totally do it again, and we highly recommend Volvo of Burlingame if you want a smooth, no hassle car buying experience. We are stoked with our new XC70!

I visited this dealership to purchase some accessories. It took a bit of time to get the pricing and special order the parts, but Joel, the person I spoke to was super responsive to all the questions I had. He was great about following up to let me know that the parts were ready for pick up and even texted me to follow up on responding to a couple of questions I had. I had contacted a couple of other Volvo dealerships in the city via an online inquiry form and leaving a VM at another before reaching out to Volvo of Burlingame because the city dealers never even responded!

My gal and I recently purchased a 2015.5 Volvo V60 from Putnam. It was, without a doubt, the easiest, most pleasant, and frictionless car buying experience I’ve ever had in my thirty or so years of buying cars (and I’ve bought a lot of cars!). We were able to get the exact car we wanted – custom built! – at the exact price we were willing to pay.
A little background: we did a ton of research on Volvo’s new T5 Drive-​E wagon and, after shopping around, offered Putnam what we felt was a fair price on the car. Putnam accepted our offer right away, without any of the stereotypical high-​pressure sales «negotiations» that give most dealerships a bad name. In fact, the entire deal took place over one or two e-​mails with our salesperson, Brian, before we went in to sign papers. That’s how utterly simple it was.
Since our car was being custom made, we elected to take delivery of it in Sweden, using Volvo’s «overseas delivery» program – meaning we got a free vacation in Europe to boot! Our delightful car buying experience continued there, as the entire crew we met at Volvo’s Göthenburg factory were extremely friendly, courteous, and excited to help us explore their country.
But to be clear: it was Putnam that provided us with a fantastic first impression of Volvo… and they carried it through all the way to delivery once our car made it to Burlingame. Thanks to Brian for getting us a great deal on a great car, and also to Mike Krewer, Putnam Volvo’s sales manager, for creating the kind of friendly atmosphere and sales culture that puts customers and prospects first.

Brian was very knowledgeable and informative, focused on our preferences/​needs and did not try to sell us cars or features that we signaled we weren’t interested in – and he was super friendly and honest. Even though we walked into the dealership late on a Sunday afternoon, Brian immediately engaged with us to help us figure out what we wanted and worked hard to find the right car for us (even from other dealers’ inventory) — with his manager Mike’s support, Brian then quickly gave us the great price we needed to close the deal efficiently by the next day! I just bought my first Volvo from Burlingame Volvo and it was a fantastic experience. I just came back from living abroad and after looking at all available options my first choice for a new vehicle was a Volvo. I really liked their 2015 model line due to the new Drive-​E engines and increased fuel efficiency. So I decided to walk in to see what models they had in stock and go for a test drive to see how the car responds.
Brian was incredibly helpful the moment I walked through the door. He helped me find the right Volvo and answered my questions with regards to the various features and combinations that were available. Mike, the sales manager, took it upon himself to speed us through the financing and I was a proud owner of a new Volvo in no time at all!
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would come back again when it is time to buy another Volvo in the future.
Update: I had a number of follow ups from Brian to see if everything was okay with my vehicle and I have to say that this is what it means to have good customer service.

As other reviewers mentioned, ask for Ash. But really, the entire team at Putnam are courteous and thorough. Purchasing a new car there is as smooth as it gets: reasonable price, no shady sales tactics at all (e.g., we saw none of the techniques as documented by websites like
), detailed yet concise answers to every question that we had, clear instructions on all the paperwork, and promptly followups.
My wife and I were looking for a XC60. Following advices given by a number of websites, we sent out our request for quote to multiple dealerships. Some dealerships insisted we go to the dealership to get a quote. Some gave us quote way above the invoice price. Some ignored our requests. Ash did not only quote a reasonable price but also called us with a number of questions to clarify the specs that we had in mind. So we paid a visit to dealership. Everything is delivered as promised. The car, the price, the mileage, and the financing. They also clearly indicated which discounts were given by the dealership, and which by Volvo. Ash, his manager Mike, and Raj were helpful from the start to the finish. Ash also gave us a kick-​butt tour of the features of new car.

Ask for Ash! The team at Putnam has treated us incredibly well, and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did to ensure we were put in to our new Volvo S60.
My wife and I finally decided it was time to buy a new car, and Ash was the man to take our call. Yes, it helped that Putnam had the car I was looking for, but that was only enough to get us through the front door…
When we met Ash for the first time, we were taken off guard with how… warm and approachable he was. He never made us feel uncomfortable, like many salespeople who can’t wait to walk up and talk to you the moment you step on their lot. Ash was at the front desk, and when we walked in the front door, he simply smiled and said ‘Hello.‘
it was already at the end of the day, and he was expecting us. We immediately asked to look at a few vehicles. He was incredibly patient with my ‘know-​it-​all’ automative questions, and loved taking us out in the cars. Yes: cars (plural). Over the period of hour and a half, we jumped into at least four vehicles, and even took two for a long spin up the hill so I could get a real feel for how I fit into this year’s Volvo line (I am 6’4″, so ‘fit’ is always a great concern).
Once we had finally picked out our car, we went across the street to meet Eric, who handles the financing end of the deal. We honestly thought that we would be driving home in our new car that night, but it was not to be: our credit wasn’t good enough for Volvo Finance, or anyone else that would take Eric’s call at 9pm on a Tuesday.
Dejected, we went home.
The next day, I was feeling down about the whole car-​buying experience, when I got a text from Ash: Eric was still working his contacts to see if he could find us an auto loan. I called Ash back, and he told me that this wasn’t the time to give up. Eventually, I agreed that Eric should continue to see if there might be at least one sun beam that could pierce my credit cloud.
That afternoon, Ash called again: Excellent News! Eric just found a lender, and they were happy to have our business! We rushed up to the dealership, signed the documents, and drove home with the newest addition to our family.

Ash a rare breed in auto sales: He has already done well in life, and –according to him– got into auto sales because he loves the work… and the cars. All he wanted to do was help us buy a great car.

I moved here from the south and still had a warranty on my XC60 so I had to go to an actual dealership to get service. Volvo of Burlingame is excellent! They are so kind and helpful. After the first service everything was fine except I needed new tires. The service guy recommended I go to Costco because they were the cheapest place for a good brand of tires that would last a while. No other service department would offer that suggestion. They would just try to get you to buy from them. Then I had a break light go out and the service manager changed it himself, free of charge! I’m not sure why they have gotten such bad reviews because they are wonderful. If I decide to buy another Volvo I will come back here!

Definitely avoid this place like the plague. I called to schedule a service appointment and asked if they had a shuttle service and the answer was ‘yes’. When I dropped my car off in the morning they were willing to give me a ride to work BUT they explained that they don’t do return shuttle services!!! WTF. How the heck was I supposed to get back. My employer is only 2.5 miles down the road!
Another grip is that when I called in to ask a question, I was transferred to another person… waited for a long period of time… transfered to another person… waited for a long period of time… and on and on…
I hope this place blows up

We just bought a 2013 Volvo yesterday and got a great deal with some incentives for buying a 2013. Ken was our salesperson and he was nice and definitely not too pushy and annoying like how some car salespeople can be. He had a great sense of humor and allowed us to test drive the vehicle on several different roads and speeds, never rushing us or pushing us to buy.
Cartier, the finance manager was awesome and really thoroughly explained the financing info, along with the maintenance and warranties. He never pressured us to buy either one which we appreciated. He just explained in fine detail how they both work. I would def recommend coming here for a Volvo. We got a great deal.

I just drove home from Putnam Volvo in my 2010 Volvo S40 which I have already fell in love with. I really was not sure what kind of car I wanted and I had to make a choice as my lease on my old car was ending somewhat soon. That is when I decided to take a look at Putnam and that is where I met Ashley or «Ash». I give Ash 5 stars for his style in sales. He was very laid back and not like your stereotypical salesman at all. He made me feel comfortable that I was getting the car that was right for me. No pressure to get something else more expensive, etc. We were able to work out a deal and work out the car that best suited me. I was very happy with my overall experience and especially with Ash. My only hope is that when I am ready to buy a new car several years from now, he is still around to help me.
I would give the place 5 stars but the other salesmen that were lurking around the lot and approached me while I was shopping were not as put together as Ash was and I could see how people on here had some of the experiences they did.
I definitely recommend it overall as a place to get a car and ask for «Ash» when you go so that you will be as happy as I was with my experience.
