Ivar’s Seafood Bar

We tried the White Clam Chowder which turned out delicious. We were there on a cloudy day so the outdoor seating area wasn’t quite as nice as I imagine it could have been. The food was excellent and really gave me a good taste of Seattle.

It is what it is… but it is actually pretty good, considering! the staff at all locations seem to always be very nice and friendly. The locations are kept clean, and things are pretty consistent. The food is good for the most part. The chowder is excellent, and I generally get one of the seafood combinations. It is prepared to order, so it is hot and tasty. Overall i prefer Captain D’s (which don;t exist around here) and Long John Silver’s, but Ivar’s has an overall better quality menu.

It’s nothing special. Most of the stuff is quite bland. No flavor in the food. But at least it’s made fresh. most of it.

Customer service is awesome the food was great nice hot and fresh the clam chowder is still the best chowder in my opinion and even the bread pudding is pretty damn good

I have been itching to eat at the Ivar’s chain forever. Work brought me to the great Pacific Northwest and the need for gasoline before dropping off my rental car brought me to Burien. While filling up the car I noticed Ivar’s across the street and off I went. I was surprised when I walked in as I thought it was more of a sit down restaurant but in actuality it looked like a fast food joint. No biggie just not what I expected. It was very clean. Ordered the Cod n Chips and a side of Clam Chowder. The order was ready quickly and was brought out by the friendly server. The cod was deep fried in a panko coating. The fish was super tasty and the breading added a nice crunch. The fish tasted better than what I have received at other chains such as Long John Silver, JJ’s and H Salt Esq., but the coating did lag behind in the seasoning department compared to those mentioned. The chowder was loaded with clams and had a peppery seasoning that I enjoyed. I prefer my chowder base to be a little thicker but that problem was solved with a package of saltines. Their house tartar sauce was fantastic and had a nice hint of dill. Overall, one of the best seafood fast food restaurant chains I have visited.

Pricey but a nice clean fast food place. and if you crave seafood its good here. right in Burien acreoss from Big Lots

The staff is crazy nice. Really good people. I imagine they get paid well. They are so nice…
The price for food is ridiculously expensive. It’s good. But wish there was a Long John Silvers, or Skippers near by. Ivar’s why you’re so expensive? I love you just the same. But why???

Helpful Friendly Employees, always a good time.

Fish & chips was OK but a little on the soggy side. Wasn’t greasy, just a little under cooked.
Sweet potato fries were a winner.

The food was very good for the price, although I would have preferred to pay more for better ambiance. The staff was attentive. I was an out-​of-​town visitor, but quickly got the impression that this chain is ubiquitous in the area.

Ultimate sadness. I love consistency in a restaurant. Epic fail at this Ivar’s. I’ve been kickin’ it quite a bit in Burien lately and have been eating fast food there more than I’d like. The first time I checked in, the food was good and the restaurant was clean. I wish the second visit had been more like the first. Unfortunately, the food just was NOT Ivar’s quality. Our food was missing salt and the tables were all dirty. Just a bummer when you hit a place where you expect a certain thing and it’s way off. Lame.

I went here with some friends after a great road trip. We’ve been craving clams and chips. The food was absolutely delicious, I would say the clams were a bit to bland, but maybe that’s because I’ve never had clams before this. The touch screen soda machine was great! So many options! The server was really nice, & she had a nice smile too! Overall, very great seafood place, Ivars doesn’t disappoint!

I have been going to the Burien location for years and there is a reason. The service is good, plenty of seating and parking, and my food is always made the way I request it! I have gotten to know the staff and resolved an issue with one of the team members years ago that not only made me happy and comfortable but made that employee happy and comfortable also!

Stopped by on our way from Portland to Seattle. Ivar’s chowder bread bowl is always welcome comfort food that is consistently good. This particular restaurant presented like a fast food venue, but they served up the food to your table with a smile. The cashier/​waitress was pleasant and made our stop here a great decision for a lunch on the run. Wished I had more time in the area as I would have liked to try so many other things on their menu.

I’ve lived in Seattle for a few years but never been too Ivar’s before now.
Finally got a chance to try it last week. My friend and I got a few different things to let us sample the menu.
We started off with the White Clam chowder. It was certainly good but not quite legendary. Then again I’ve lived in New England so my standards are pretty high.
After our chowder we had the fish, calamari and fried clams. Everything was good, but the clams in particular stood out. Just the right level of crispy.
The restaurant was super clean and the staff was very friendly. Now I feel silly for waiting this long to try it out.

Great Cod, Halibut & Clam Chowder, friendly service and clean. Would be a regular stop if I lived here!

We were here based upon recommendation for lunch. Food was ok but nothing too special. Lots of fried food much like Long John Silvers.

Food tastes good, the same as all the other Ivar’s do. They have a good selection of condiments unlike the mall location that only dole’s out extra if you ask, this place has them all out and available to you.

I mean what can I say? Everything is fried perfectly! The staff is actually super duper friendly! And very personable. Only thing is when I ordered the Super clams and chips, I got slightly bigger clams but still the same portion as the regular clams and chips… so was a little sad when we got home and opened it. It was also so expensive too! I would think weight wise I would get more. But no. Other than that. Great location for friend seafood lovers to dine in!

Always have loved Ivars going way back, and the folks at the burien shop are very friendly and the service is very good. They even have an old guy (I think he’s the manager) who bears a striking resemblance to the late, great Ivar Haglund!
Clean, efficient, and friendly – a must go-​to for out of towners.
