—- CLOSED— Went to this place and noticed it was closed down for good. It sucks because their food was always excellent. But every time I was there I always saw the place empty. The other eateries in the are were always packed but not this one. Sad. Thought maybe it was a remodel because every window was blocked with brown paper and all advertising was gone. I had a glimmer of hope when the outdoor sign was still there. When I noticed that the location was no longer listed in the Great Steak & Potato website Store Locator( ) I knew it was gone for good. Sad,

I am in LOVE with their Cheesesteaks. So good, perfect amount of cheese/steak, really solid bread, and it’s always the perfect temperature. It sounds weird, but I’ve always noticed it’s perfectly hot without being burning. I haven’t tried the fries, but they also look great. Can’t see why a baked potato is close to $ 5 so haven’t tried that either. Either way, highly recommended!

Some days I’ll go to a place that I’ve walked by a hundred times just to cross it off my list and be able to say I’ve been there. This was one of those places. I probably should’ve ordered something steak and potato-y, given the name of the joint, but instead I got the gyro. It tasted pretty good and I appreciate being able to see it prepared, but it was so greasy that it became soggy in seconds, the pita completely fell apart, and the paper was literally leaking everywhere. Despite the good flavor I ended up with a stomach ache and will likely not order it again. The reason this place gets three stars though(instead of two, which was my first inclination) is because the lady at the register was SO unbelievably pleasant. It was a good experience, coming here… other than the food. Maybe I’ll try again and just order something different?

Love their Buffalo Chicken Sub! French Fries are good too! They have crazy toppings to put on your fries and cheese steaks. Ever wanted to try mac and cheese on a cheese steak! Then come here! Love this place for lunch, never too busy, in an out pretty quick, Prices are fair for lunch. Parking lot shared with several places, parking can get tight, there will be parking, but it may be further away than you expected at times.

My husband and I stopped in while waiting for a friend on Sunday. He got a king potato and I got a gryo. My gyro was ok — not the best but definitely not the worst. However, that isn’t why I wanted to leave a review. The lady running the register and helping with the food was SOOOO nice. It’s so rare to actually find friendly people like that in California anymore. I really appreciated her kindness and sense of humor. I’m bummed that I can’t remember her name but she definitely deserves some kudos.

When I heard first heard of the name, I thought this was some sort of overpriced, dine-in steakhouse. Then I heard about the unhealthy King Fries in a health article on Yahoo! and after looking up more info on the place, I was like«Really? So, its like the Sbarro of cheesesteaks?» This restaurant is located in Burbank, tucked away in back of the Burbank Empire Center. Its right next to a GNC and a couple of doors down from a Subway, a burger place, a sushi restaurant, and Daphne’s California Greek,(Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden and Hometown Buffet are nearby as well) so it definitely has some competition to deal with in this shopping center. The times I’ve been here, I’ve usually been greeted by the nice lady at the register(I’m guessing she’s the owner as well) and besides her, I usually just see one worker there doing the cooking. The restaurant has been empty every time I’ve gone there(usually on Sunday around 2pm) but as soon as I get my order taken, 2 – 4 people start showing up and ordering. So a quick rundown of some of the items from here: Note: Philly Cheese = Cheez Whiz, which at this place looks like its squeezed out of a tube and eventually looks waxy as it cools off, rather than slathered on and drips out with each bite. Nacho fries — Basically, just Philly cheese and jalapenos atop of fries. Its not bad, but it could have used more cheese. Philly Cheesesteak — In comparison to Philly’s Best, the meat is slightly thicker, but it lacks in the cheese department. It consist of a large layer of meat, onions and Philly cheese, put in a soft, yet sorta chewy bread. The problem is that I tasted way more meat than cheese, so I probably need to request extra cheese on it. Still its worth trying . Philly Mac & Cheese Cheesesteak — Total letdown. At first I didn’t see it on the display menu, but the lady told me that if its not on the menu at this time, it can still be made since they always have the ingredients for their special sandwiches and I really wanted to see how good it could be. Anyway, the amount of meat and onions dominates everything else. Not to mention, the mac and cheese is flavorless and looks likes it was scooped out of a box of Stouffers frozen dinners, while the meat and onions add tons of flavor to overpower what should have been cheese flavor. When I order a cheesesteak I expect to taste the flavor of the cheese, yet in this one, it was totally nonexistent. Not recommended unless you don’t care for cheese flavor in a cheesesteak. Coney Island Fries — Basically, another fancy name for chili cheese fries. It was basically soggy fries covered with chili and Philly cheese. The chili wasn’t bad, though it reminded me of a better version of canned chili without beans and it was topped off with Philly Cheese. Overall its not bad, but there are better places for chili cheese /coney island fries out there. King Fries — Just fries topped with Philly cheese, bacon, chives and sour cream(though I ordered mine without it). This might be the only thing I actually sorta liked from here, simply because of the bacon. But other than that, there’s nothing really special about it. Chicagoland Cheeseteak — It consist of all three cheeses used in their cheesesteaks(Provolone, White American and Philly Cheese) with onion, mushrooms, green bell peppers and meat. Honestly, there was no cheese flavor whatsoever. All I could taste was just beef and some onion flavor. You’d think that adding 3 cheeses should give you plenty of cheese flavor, but in this case, the cheese flavor is nonexistent, even though it was clearly visible in certain parts of it. Also, the bread on this one seemed a little stale and started falling apart before I started eating. Again, not recommended unless you don’t care for cheese flavor in you cheesesteak. Normally, I would have tried a couple of more items before writing this, but I think I’ve come to a conclusion already based on those few items. Its nice that they give people a variety of choices to make a sandwich and fries, but in the end, you’ll probably walk away from here thinking«I’d paid a lot for an OK sandwich and fries. And WTF happened to the cheese?!.» When I expect a cheesesteak, I expect to taste cheese and meat working in harmony and letting both flavors come through, not the meat to get up in your face while the cheese shrivels and hides like a coward. Overall, its just a decent place to stop by if you’re in a rush and in dire need to have some sort of cheesesteak, but if you’re in Burbank, Philly’s Best, which is a short drive from here, has them beat when it comes to higher quality and more authentic cheesesteaks. the kind of cheesesteak that actually has cheese flavor and better quality bread. So, unless you’re so hungry that you can’t wait for a Philly cheesesteak, save you money and get a cheesesteak elsewhere.

Gots to love their chicken teriyaki sandwich! I just think they are a bit pricey. But worth it.

Let’s be honest folks… nobody can make a Philly cheesesteak sandwich like Philly! Eateries in California that claims to make cheesesteak sandwiches as well as Philly are lying. I have yet to find a restaurant that even comes close! One day I decided to give The Great Steak and Potato Company(strange name!) a try. I don’t entirely recall potatoe dishes there but I do remember a plethora of cheesesteaks and even wraps. Healthy alternatives at a place named after one of the most unhealthy diets ever? This I gotta try! Got one of the specials of the day: veggie wrap. I was expecting some slightly cooked lukewarm veggies wrapped in a tasteless flour tortilla. However to my surprise this place offered wheat wraps! I didn’t get what I expect but was pleasantly surprised with a rather large wrap stuffed to the gills with veggies right off the grill. The taste of the veggie wrap was not memorable: a tad bland but filling. The place itself was neat and tidy for a fast food place. Prices are average but you do get a huge amount of food. Of course it all depends what you order.

I have been coming to this place for a while now, and I definitely love the sandwiches here! I usually order the buffalo chicken, and even though it may seem pricey to some, you really get a lot for your money. The owner and staff have always treated me well, too. The only problems I’ve had were that my special order was not done correctly a few times. However, it normally is not a big deal for me. If you come by here a lot, I suggest getting a punch card so that after you buy 10 sandwiches, your next one is free. There are also specials in the evenings sometimes, where you can get a sandwich for cheaper after 4pm. If you’re in the area and you like sandwiches, give this place a try! A sandwich alone will probably be enough…

Usually if there is a Great Steak & Potato in a strip mall or food court I will usually eat there. I love their sandwhiches. Today I got the Chicken Sandwhich w/Peppers, Onions, and Provolone cheese. Got the combo w/fries and a drink. I ordered the sandwhich on wheat. The owner warned me that the wheat bread falls apart easier when eaten and she was totally right. I was on my 2nd half and as soon as I picked it up all the chicken fell out from the bottom. I didn’t mind. I just got a fork and started eating it off the plate. All the sandwhiches here are great. Full of Flavor. And guaranteed to fill you up!(especially if you get the large size). Friendly staff as well!

Always wanted to try this place when i have walked to other restaurants near by. If you like swiss cheese and onions then this is the place for you! i however do not like swiss cheese or onion on my sub BUT luckily i was able to substitute provolone cheese. I got a buffalo chicken sub with french fries and the bf got a philly cheese steak sub with fries. Although, i really wanted to try the Loaded baked potato(i will next time). The fries were pretty good, better than the average fast food place — i like that some of the potato skins are left on the fries. The buffalo chicken sub was surprisingly good, the chicken was very tender and didn’t taste like your regular bland chicken and i was happy that they didn’t douse it with so much buffalo sauce that it made my bread soggy. i liked the bread too, it tasted fresh and sweet. I would recommend this place to people who like a fast Philly cheesesteak sub for a reasonable price. Nothing too great but I will probably be back in the future because it was a filling and satisfying meal at the moment.
