Came in at 7:10, host said she needs to check if there is a waiter to assist the 1 other waiter who’s serving the patio. Than after she asked the manager and walked us out she got into a verbal back n forth with the 1 Waitr. At 7:20pm we ordered drinks and calamari, and the calamari came in at 7:53pm cold and dry as f***… Ordered food at 7:25 pm and it’s now 8:00pm. Still no food and im just a tad bit irritated… horrible service cold food and waiter hostess at each other’s throats

I’ve been here twice, once for brunch and once for dinner. I love the breadsticks and the décor! The food here is very good and I’ve been seated promptly both times. The sauce with the drunken mussels appetizer is delicious. They’re currently celebrating their 24th birthday so all beers are only $ 3!

Great service, full food size for happy hour foods. The only hard luck is parking. I would definitely recommend their happy hours. I am so getting used to it.

Dinner on their lovely patio, watching all the people go by is a wonderful way to spend the evening. The waitress was very helpful with my order. Not wanting to fill up on pasta, I ordered the meatball appetizer. And when I asked if they had a side of vegetables she was very helpful. So the meatballs and veggies were the perfect dinner. But of course once I saw and smelled the bread, I had to have some. Wonderful place in the heart of Burbank.

I would say this place is mediocre. I ordered the mozzarella balls for an app and they were cold. I ordered a Antipasto salad which may as well be a bed of lettuce only. I had to ask for black olives on the side and if you like pepperoni on your salad, good luck finding the slices in this one. Our waiter was new and he was great, that’s about the only thing I enjoyed here. Also the bread they brought out was hard as a rock. I like to skip rocks, not eat them.

I only give this café 3 stars based on their location and outside dining. My food experience was about 2 ½ stars and the service was 2 stars, but on a nice day it is an enjoyable place to sit at an outside table and relax.

When I am in town I ONLY eat at Granville, but while out walking around, I strolled passed Market City Caffe and their seasonal menu look appealing. The organic spinach salad sounded good. The description said it contained strawberries, honey balsamic, fennel, pistachios, goat cheese, and bread. I wanted to add some protein, but a piece of grilled salmon was an up charge of $ 9! The salad alone was priced at $ 15.95 and in my opinion, no salad is worth $ 25 unless it contains lobster, so I opted out. The salad arrived and while it had everything that was described, the goat cheese was not included in the salad in the form of crumbles, it was smeared on top of the bread which was placed on top of the salad… yeah, no. I made the mistake of not asking for the dressing on the side and it was drenched in dressing. I think I will stick to Granville next time.

Good atmosphere. Clean. Nice service, Although our server ran off quickly before we could say much. Food was bland. Boring. Ravioli was watery. Salad was basic and brown. It’s a little pricey for the poor quality. If you’re just interested in wine and bread, this might be a nice place, but there are other good restaurants in the area.

I went there on March 16, 2016 at around 9pm after leaving a bad experience at another restaurant due to their poor service. However market city caffe was great! Their bread, red wine, fish and pasta was delicious. Not to mention my server was very knowledgeable and fast in her service. Me and my boyfriend was very pleased. We will definitely go there again!

I’ve been to this restaurant for a number of years. I became a fan back when the owners had a location in Brea, Calif. I love that they have a live string quartet on Sundays for brunch. Oh, and the food is pretty good, too! The service is not as consistent as I’d like it to be. Some days, the staff can be dismissive. Other days, thankfully most days, they’re on the mark.

Love the market city salad & ice tea, this is all I seem to order. Only negative today is that the tomatoes were acidly.

My husband and I were visiting from Northern California and were sent to this area by the concierge at the hotel as it was close by. From the beginning this place looked promising. We were seated outside and the waiter was quick to bring us drinks and get our order. We ordered the calamari frito appetizer, the penne al pollo, and the Thursday ravioli special for dinner. Fifteen minutes later the calamari came and it was so severely over fried that the calamari seemed to have disappeared. We took several bites because we were hungry and hoped that maybe those first few bites were the only overcooked pieces… we were wrong. So very wrong! It was so bad! After about 20 minutes since we had ordered, the waiter returned to tell my husband that they were out of the mushroom ravioli and that he needed to order something else. He ended up ordering the lamb ragu which left much to be desired. It tasted like marinara sauce and seasoning minus the lamb because there was none to be found. Plus, why did it take 20 minutes for the waiter to realize they were out of ravioli unless he didn’t put our order in when we ordered it? My chicken penne with cream sauce was just meh. There was hardly any sauce as and the amount of sun dried tomatoes on the dish exceeded the chicken. Plus, the waiter said it was one of the most popular dishes, so I had high expectations. If this is the most popular dish, well then maybe I’m just missing something. The best Italian food we’ve ever had was in San Francisco so it’s our bad expecting better in SoCal, but we at least tried. Our waiter was nice and didn’t charge us for the appetizer, but seemed to disappear whenever we needed drink refills. We’ve got no reason to come here again and will stick to chain restaurants the next time we’re in town.

We picked this place at random. Had I looked at the reviews we would have probably gone elsewhere. But I’m glad we went. Friendly service and excellent free breadsticks with a nice oily base. The antipasti bar was great at $ 6. A few seasoned mussels, an array of salads(including superbly seasoned shredded carrots)… great stuff. Spaghetti puttanesca was superb — generous portion, well-seasoned with plenty of olives and capers. It could have done with less breadcrumb but it was so flavorful that it’s just nitpicking. Decent beer selection, too. A little expensive but very high quality food.

Oof. This was a rough one. I live in the area and have passed by here multiple times and have always been interested in trying it. Finally my friend and I decided to go in. Immediately we were off to a bad start. When entered, there was no one at the hostess stand. The two dudes in front of us informed us that they had been standing there waiting for almost 10 minutes and still had not been seated. It was hard to imagine why since there were clearly multiple empty 2-top tables available. After about 5 minutes, the people in front of us finally got seated. It should be noted that at no point was there ever a hostess greeting people. Random servers kept coming by and letting us know that we’d be seated eventually… Turns out«eventually» meant almost 10 minutes. As we were escorted to our table, we walked past the«antipasto bar», which I had seen praised here by several other Unilocalers. Clearly that must be a lunch thing, because what I saw was a half-empty, wilted/stagnant salad bar that looked like everything had been sitting out there at room temperature for hours(more on that later). Things improved once we were seated. The freshly-made breadsticks were delicious. The server gave us our own personal jugs of iced tea to refill our glasses, which I thought was very considerate and efficient. Both of us ordered the pasta fagioli to start with, which was decent. The entrees were about on par with Olive Garden in terms of taste, quality, and portion size. I ordered the Bolognese. The pasta was completely overcooked, but at least the sauce had a decent flavor. My friend ordered the citrus chicken off their specials menu. The chicken itself was decent, but it was served alongside a fusilli pasta that both looked at tasted like a pile of noodles soaked in grease and topped with breadcrumbs. Not appetizing. Our server was pretty good until after the entrees had been delivered, at which point she disappeared and we sat there for another 20 minutes trying to get ahold of someone to get our check. It was on the way out, as we passed by the salad bar again, that I first saw and smelled the mussels. Dead center in the middle of the salad bar was this giant orange bucket of fetid, rancid, dried out mussels that both looked and smelled horrible. I could feel myself get botulism just looking at it. I took a picture for posterity which is posted. And then I thanked whatever divine intervention told me to go for the Bolognese instead of opting for a seafood entrée. There are so many excellent places to eat on this block. Skip this one and go to one of them.

Better than a trip to the Olive Garden. Dishes were flavorful and the menu offered a variety of options. They serve you two long skinny breadsticks upon arrival to dip in some yummy olive oil. The bread is warm and soft but once it gets cold, it’s hard as a rock. For an appetizer we ordered the bacon and prosciutto wrapped shrimp which was super juicy and delicious. It came with wArm marinated tomatoes, olives, and broccoli. It was really tasty. Four pieces. I ordered the clam linguini which was light and comforting. They serve u plenty of clams and the linguini is served in a whit wine clam broth with lemon and red pepper flakes. Almost like a soup. It was just what I needed at the time. My bf ordered the orecchiette and that was tasty as well. It came with beef stock, sweet sausage, parmesan, some sort of broccoli, and red pepper flakes. Yummmmmm. That beef stock made the dish. Prices were fair for what we ordered. Averaging around $ 13 Overall, the food was good and I would go back if in the area.

I have been to this restaurant on occasion. I have enjoyed it in the past, however today I was very disappointed. In fairness I may have ordered the wrong dish. In the past I have enjoyed the salad bar which is great. Today however, I ordered the pumpkin ravioli from the seasonal holiday menu. My disappointment lies in the fact that for $ 16 I expected A little more. My plate consisted of about seven or eight pumpkin ravioli and that was it. There was no salad or anything to accompany the dish. In addition, the service was terrible. Our server was disinterested. We had to ask for napkins and silverware and any additional requests. To make matters worse My husband found a small hair in his food. All in all I may give this place another try one day, as I have really enjoyed the salad bar and found it to be a very good value.

Decided to give my own neighborhood, #DTNBUR, a try past Friday night and we picked Market City out of no where. Just walked right in and got seated at one of those window tables… Bread sticks upon arrival was good. It’s actually great! I almost thought I didn’t need to order an entrée. I got myself the flat iron steak while the friend wanted to try their rainbow trout. Food came out kinda late. It’s wasn’t that busy to me but whatever. My steak was great. Cream spinach, tomatoes and blue cheese was amazing! Everything went well with my red wine. The fish was decent. It’s kinda bland… We expected a little bit more flavors to it. I noticed there’s a AYCE salad bar too for $ 10.95 or so. I didn’t think that’s a good deal though.

I enjoyed my experience at Market City! It’s too bad I’m moving further away now that I’ve discovered such a fabulous place. The restaurant offfers brunch up until 3:00PM, and fortunately, I arrived at about 2:00PM so I was able to order their antipasto brunch and a mimosa. My waiter’s name is Sean and he took very good care of me. He was attentive, quick and hospitable. My order arrived within 5 – 10 minutes of ordering it(granted I didn’t order hot food) and it was all delightful. Their cold cut platter was just the right size for my appetite and with all their pastas and salads at the antipasto bar one can say that it’s actually extra. Overall, the price was decent, the atmosphere was very rustic Italian and I will definitely make the drive for this place. Thank you Sean!!!
