I like this Hometown Buffet location, but this morning they were closed. No sign on the door except for a small placard in the window from the Health Department stating they were closed January 8th.

The quality here has really taken a big dive, no matter what time you are here. It seems like when it’s not busy here that things are old and stale, and when it is busy, they can’t keep up with the demand and refill food fast enough. It’s a shame because if they stepped up their quality of food, I’d actually want to eat here. However, the spinach/lettuce for the salads is almost never freshly cut and are usually browning, there are items sitting out that have probably been sitting out for way longer than they should have been because nobody touches them(like their cheese sauce). For breakfast, the bacon is always really fresh and well stocked, but the eggs are almost always gross, and the other options also seem unappetizing. Their desserts are usually good, and that is one positive about this place.

First and foremost, I want to say, this is a buffet. A fairly cheap buffet. For the price, its pretty good. I so wish that Unilocal would let us give half stars… because I sat on the fence between 3 and 4 stars. I went ahead and gave them 4 stars, because I think the service there is great. Very friendly. Always. So, I’ve been to lots of HomeTown Buffets, all over the place. This is a very busy location, located in a strip mall in Buena Park. Its funny, because a gym just opened next door fairly recently. After you eat at HomeTown, we all need a gym! LOL! Anyways, Ive been for lunch, and dinner here. Today was the first time I had breakfast. I liked it very much. They stop serving breakfast at 11AM, so we got there around 10am. It was PACKED… oh lord was it packed!!! We had coupons for $ 4.99 breakfast, its usually $ 7.99. We paid, and waited to be seated. We asked for a booth, and they had one available for us. The guy that was taking care of us was Mike. He was very, very nice. Now, the food. Like I said before, it was packed. It was just people everywhere trying to get food. The food was running out quicker than they could bring it out. The people that work there got the job done. Im impressed with how fast they had to get that food out there. I waited for a few minutes for fresh scrambled eggs to come out, but it was worth it. I enjoyed everything they had. Waffles, sausage, bacon, hash browns, french toast, fruit, etc. You name it. They also have an omelet bar. :) I really, really liked it. I will say this, IF you are a person that doesn’t like crowded buffets, with people and kids bustling around, don’t come here. Its a family restaurant, and sometimes it feels like a kitchen at home during the holidays, chaos. LOL. My husband and I loved it for the $ 4.99. We actually were still there when the lunch menu started at 11AM. So we had the selection of breakfast, then lunch. Yep, we will go back. I want to say again, the people that work there are always super nice. Its a great place to go when you aren’t up for cooking, but want comfort food.

Everyone was really nice but the choices of food was really limited. I used to love breakfast here but I feel like the menu items have decreased. As for the food the pancakes and french toast tasted dry and tough. The waffles were good. Cornbread was yummy and moist. I went on a Saturday morning and it was bustling with people. They had an omelette stand but I didn’t try. Wouldn’t go again, barely anything tasted good and the menu is limited.

I used to come here because it was cheap for a lot of food. Dinner now runs about $ 15 per person with drinks included. Not worth the price you pay. Yes you get a lot of food but nothing is actually good. It’s all just mediocre food. You can get something better for $ 15. If you do choose to go, go on Mondays only when they have steak. That’s pretty much the only time it’s worth your money. Other than that, you’re just throwing away your money only to feel like crap after you eat.

Went here with my family last night. Website stated that they close at 8:30… But the door sign said 9:30pm. We noticed quite a few transients in the restaurant. Very interesting characters all around… My sister in law found hair in the cucumbers and I was grossed out by some lady at the salad bar who was tasting the oil and vinegar with her fingers and then licking her fingers and touching everything else… Mike, our waiter was very attentive and nice that’s the only reason this place got three stars. The food was okay. Prime rib was dry and my baked chicken was raw. The salad bar was well stocked. Everything else was as expected for Hometown Buffet…

The place is pretty hidden. When we came in we were greeted by the hostess. It was five of us And they charged us nearly ninety dollars! We could’ve gone to a dine in restaurant and spent less. There was a salad bar and three other spots to get food from. My mom says the lettuce was warm and soggy. I was pretty disappointed with the food selection. Almost everything was really just a side item. The macaroni was delicious. The chocolate milk was perfect and the spaghetti was okay. Besides that, nothing to brag about. Overall I don’t think I’d come back because it was way too expensive for the food quality and selection.

This HomeTown Buffet was decent a couple years back, however, my friend and I went here today and the food was ok. The selections were limited compared to before. Back then, there were a wide range of pizza and different pasta sauces to choose from, but today, there were only one type of pizza and one type of pasta sauce. Dinner is 12 bucks and lunch is 8 bucks, not including the drink. I would not recommend coming here for lunch. The food was ok, but I really enjoyed the make your own taco bar. Most other buffets do not have that option. I really like the desserts at this place, especially the bread pudding. It tasted a lot like Cinnabon. The vanilla ice cream reminded me of Rally’s ice cream, but a little bit thicker. They also have a Slurpee machine, which is pretty cool.

Unilocal challenge 2015105⁄365 Hometown used to be cool, so cool they would have a line wrapped around the building. These days this is the type of place you can visit once a year and not have to return till the next year. Located on Knott and Lincoln in the city of Anaheim in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. I don’t like hometown very much. The mediocre food is mass produced, lukewarm and full of cooties of everyone that touches it. The only thing that saves it is their plentiful drink bar, chocolate milk, the deserts and the friendly servers. There is a variety of people who eat here. All walks of life. Lots of people eat while in the line. That is a big no no for me. I feel they should have hand sanitizers positioned around the buffet bar. The bathroom is disgusting. The trash in the stalls is overflowing of people who throw their used toliet paper in the trash and on the floor. Aparently staff does not check the decency of the bathtlroom because a mess like this takes a while to build up. In my world TP goes in the bowl or even better across someones lawn if your 15. It’s not even cheap here. Lunch for 2 peeps is $ 25.00. Dinner for two is about $ 30.00. 3 stars is being nice. Review # 604

Food is cold. Ice cream machine is always broken. Orange juice looks like it’s from the bottom of the barrel. The only good things are the fruit and the omelets; everything is cold and hard. If i could put 0 stars i would. Overall SUCKSASS!

I love that there is always a place to sit. The female manager is AWESOME!!! Food is fresh, the staff is super friendly & out of all the HTB in the area I would say this one is the best. I wish they would have one or two more items on the menu but other then that this place is awesome. It’s also clean, kept up to date, not run down like the one on Katella & Gilbert. Stop by & visit them during lunch. I don’t know how this place is during dinner but during lunch time it’s great.

Starved after a day at Knott’s Berry Farm, we settled at this place. We thought«where can we satisfy 6 hungry stomachs quickly, without a reservation and at a decent price?» So there we were. I’ve been to a couple of HomeTown Buffets in the past, but this one seems to be above average for their kind. Maybe it was because were there there an hour before closing, but the manager and cashier were happy to greet us. At this time, it was $ 12.19/person for dinner. That’s a deal if you’re trying to feed multiple people who don’t want to sit and wait for food to be served(AND that can eat multiple plates of food). They close Sunday evenings at 8:30pm, but staff are still bringing out fresh, hot dishes at 8:15pm, which I thought was a nice touch. I would recommend going later in the evening, closer to closing time, only because it’s not packed inside with people cruising the buffet. There may only be a handful of people(unless there’s a large group dining) at the buffet each time you graze with your plate. What I had+enjoyed: * Pot roast — it was served in little individual pots with handles(cute, but a really large portion). Tender meat, served with carrots and potatoes * Bacon Mac+Cheese — served in a ramekin so you had an individual serving * Chicken Pot Pie — this was their special of the day and it was very good! Also served in a ramekin, the ingredients were steamy hot and the crust was perfectly baked so every piece was delicious(not soggy, burned or dry) * Salad, pineapple, oranges * Fried chicken — crispy skin!(which I like) Not too greasy, but well-cooked and juicy, so I ate it down to the bone * Steak & potatoes — served in an individual pot. Well-done steak cubes with whipped potatoes Food that was kind of meh: * Steamed broccoli Never to forget dessert, I had enough space to sample the following: * Bread pudding — very good, warm and sweet in an individual serving dish(I topped mine with soft serve) * Cinnabon — not sure how new this is to HB, but they serve wrapped Cinnabons and they are fluffy with crispy edges and delicious Our server, Katy, was also happy to greet us and bus our table(don’t forget to tip your server!) Another server, Juan, was friendly and asked our table if we wanted some chocolate chip cookies that he was tray-passing. Nice touch for a buffet — unheard of, really. This place is situated in a typical strip mall section, but next door to a Korean BBQ buffet and a gym(LOL). Friendly staff, fresh food, and a non-crowded restaurant really do make a difference about your perception of a place — this place was great!

It’s an okay from me. The food is slightly cold at times even under the heat. The food is also hard. When I ate was at breakfast. The omelet kinda tasted funny to my liking. Wish there was more choices — especially in fruits. The milk machine could be replaced as its very slow and old as I came here multiple times. The waiter seemed nice and smiled. However, our plates were often seen on the table, so it took awhile for him to clean up our table. I can tell that the serving spoons are kinda dirty as well as the bathrooms. It could have more cleaning. The desert is good(I personally liked the molten cake) but was also kind of hard as well. This could be from it sitting out once again. I’ve always came back here, but it’s not the best as well as not the worst one I came to. I did like how the manager did greet me though. Update: Dinner is pretty good. Good different choices. Gets a little crowded though, so food tends to run out more

BIGPETPEEVE: People! Don’t let the serving spoon slip all the way into the food. The handle is DIRTY! A good reason to have employees around to watch for that & correct. This goes for all Buffet Restaurants. Your experience at HB will vary depending on the day & time you go. If you don’t like crowds avoid Sunday. If you don’t like kids don’t go on Sunday or Kid’s Night which I think is Thurs. During the week, mid-day it’s pretty quiet. Food is usually REALLY good to good. Rarely bad. The fried chicken is as good as any I’ve tasted. Lots of sides & veggies to choose from. Chicken Vegetable Soup is delish! !Hand-carved roast beef, ham & turkey are all tasty & available on Sunday’s & dinner during the week, I think. Weekend breakfast is carb heavy but really good! I love the scrambled eggs. The cooked to order omelette is tasty & the fried chicken is there for chicken & waffles. They’re always trying to improve & the new stuff is fun to try. They had Cinnabon brand cinnamon rolls that were warm & sweet & should be illegal! I miss the chicken livers in pilaf. Coffee is real good, ice tea, Coke, Big beverage selection. Salad bar is interesting. Better than Claim Jumper. Given the crowd they do a pretty good job refilling and replenishing but sometimes you need to wait a bit. I agree with the reviews that mention the kids running around. They need supervision at all times around the food. Kids are shorter than the«sneeze guard» which is unsanitary. Parents rarely tell the kids to be quiet at the tables. A sanitary dispenser like they have at the grocery store entrances would be good to have at each table. Prices are on the high side although the value is there as it is all-you-can-eat. A bargain if you can eat that much. I get filled up fast but if I could return later in the day I’d go another round. Join the e-club & watch for coupons. That really helps! Service is attentive & they do a good job clearing dishes. Management checks on tables most of the time & seem to care about how they’re doing.

Good food and depends what time you arrive. On the weekends they have a awesome breakfast selection with fresh baked goods but if you come on a Sunday be prepared for a crowd there! Lunch is great! I recommend the roasted chicken breast and on some days they have meatloaf with BBQ sauce, pot roast served in little pans, pizza, freshly made breaded chicken tenders(wish they still had the condiment rack for the BBQ sauce to dunk those yummy breaded chicken tenders in) and the always popular Orange Chicken and some times they throw in a «surprise«meal(which was sliced roast turkey with gravy) during lunch. Dinner is also great with freshly carved roast beef, baked ham or turkey as well as steak! And if you’re part of the e-club there you can get coupons for awesome discounts! Also if you get coupons over the mail or by a coupon book there you can get the same discounts too!

I have gone here since I was a child on the occasion now it’s declined so far. It is my last visit… Golden coral charges same prices but oh my god is the difference massive. B Bathroom was in complete trash shape, there was still Clorox powder sitting on the sink as well as the container. Children could of gotten sick I actually took the container to the desk up front it was miserable. Food was below average was a invisible decision to go there.

I will make this a proper review when I am able. I brought 5 foodies here last week, they all agreed this is the best HTB they’ve been to. The food was fresh, they had fresh and VERY tasty deserts(pecan pie, ice creams, cookies, etc)! It might be the management, who I met and spoke with, he cares!!!
