Great spot for down home country diner food. The breakfast plates are hearty and super cheap. The service is also top notch. This place is so much better than the Dan’s on Manchaca. The food is pretty much the same but the parking lot on Manchaca is a total joke. Mixed in with a busy drive-thru there’s never anywhere to park and circling back in to find one is a total nightmare with Ben White and Manchaca traffic. Parking at this Buda location is a breeze and the dining area is larger as well. Drive the extra 15 minutes to this one, it’s so worth it.

My husband and I tried to come here on Easter last month but they were closed due to the holiday. Anyway, we finally made it back out today to try Dan’s burgers and curly fries. We stepped up to the ordering area after entering the resteraunt and ordered two burgers and a large curly fry to split. It was hard to decide what size of burger to get since I had never eaten here. The burgers are not cooked to a specific way and are cooked well done. Which is a bummer for me since I like med to med rare burgers. The burgers came out and my husband and I both had jalapeños on it. My husband also had added cheese and bacon for some added flavor. The burger was decent but honestly nothing to write home about. I think the best burger so far I have had since living in Texas again has been Whataburger. Now, please note that I have only been here for a little over 2 months now and have tried maybe 3 – 4 burger places. The curly fries are a must here! A large is a big order for even two people so keep that in mind. At the cash register they had sample sizes to show the amount it comes in to make a better decision based upon your current hunger levels. We grabbed a homemade brownie to share for dessert and by all means skip this. The brownie had pecans on it but something tasted off and not in the good way. haha

Best cheeseburger I’ve had in a while. Buttery buns, perfect meat, great overall burger. Bacon and jalapeño to your meal would greatly help it. Definitely stop by!

With the numerous burger joints out there serving good to great renditions of this American classic I can not think of a good reason to return to this place. First cleanliness is not a priority here and the burgers and fries, well Whataburger on a bad day is better. The meat patty was lost among the lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. It is called a hamburger so I should taste the meat. I gave it two stars because the ticket for three was under $ 20. Been there done that!

I’m sorry but this place doesn’t do it for me. The burgers are meaty but absolutely no amount of seasoning on them. There wasn’t enough salt in the shaker to give the sandwich at least a little bit of flavor. I can’t see wasting money on something that admittedly fills me up but was not properly cooked. Sad because I always liked the food at the old«Frans» on SOCO before it closed.

BEWARE the staff are rude. I refuse to spend another dime at this place. As a paying customer I had a menu rudely given to me when I got to window to pay for my order all because I had questions about price. I ignored it because I hadn’t received my food at this point. The girl then shoves my bag of food at me causing it to hit the ground. She stares at me and I tell her to get the manager. He comes to the window and accuses me of having an attitude… really. Demanded refund and have not returned since.

OMG this burger is delicious. I got the 4oz patty, double meat, double cheese with everything on it, onion rings and a strawberry shake. I figured that If I was going to eat the best burger in town I may as well indulge all of the way. These guys are doing it right. A juicy patty that doesn’t drip with grease down your hand, crispy hand batter onion rings and a shake so thick that an hour later I was still able to enjoy it. Dan’s is legit!

The burgers here are delicious. Get the crispy, flaky onion rings or perfectly cooked fries. Good quality food at a reasonable price. Shakes are thick and flavorful. Only thing is: sometimes the food could use more salt(fries and chicken fried steak). Each table has a salt shaker, so not a big deal.

Dan’s Hamburgers are the bomb. An Austin landmark, it is a taste of old Austin in a sea of CaliAustin cuisine. Go, eat, enjoy and support true Austin!

Dan’s in Buda is a really great place for an inexpensive breakfast. Parking is easier than at the South Austin location on Manchaca Road, and service is definitely friendlier. This location also features a convenient drive-thru, which is constantly busy. Service is pleasant and fast out of the necessity to turn tables quickly. When I ate, a very friendly manager brought out the food. It was a bit confusing as that delivery method can be, because he has no notes of who ordered what and you have to help him sort things out. The manager followed up with us later to ensure we were satisfied with our meals. Get a booth if at all possible. You can jam together the two-tops for larger groups, but, since a breakfast order can comprise multiple plates for one person(pancakes are served on a plate of their own, for instance), you’re constantly paranoid that something precious is going to go overboard(minus 0.75 stars). Honestly, their two-tops are best suited for one at breakfast. Combine your plates to be more comfortable eating. Several in my party commented on this aspect of our visit. Pancakes and bacon are spot on and would hold their own against anyone’s. The scrambled eggs were flat and dry, not at all fluffy, which suggested powdered or pasteurized origin(minus 0.75 stars). Saturday mornings can get busy, and you’ll feel considerable waitress and bus pressure to move on once everyone has cleaned their plates(and, with food this good, everyone will!). That’s a bit disconcerting if you choose Dan’s for a get-together like we did, but, in all honesty, you’ll find that to be true anywhere you go for breakfast in Buda that’s decent. A solid 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 for good measure. That can easily be a 4 – 5 star experience with the right table and menu choices, provided breakfast is a bodily function and not a destination.

Dan’s is my go to for homestyle all American cheeseburgers! The entire family loves it when I say I’m getting burgers because they know I’m going to Dan’s Love the options for the burgers, we always get the size just right for our appetite. Made to order, fresh ingredients, not too much bread(many other Austin restaurants use big bread to fill you up but not Dan’s!), the price is perfect and can’t beat that they are Austin locals. My only«beef» is that the condiments contain high fructose corn syrup but we just don’t use them. And their breakfast tacos are the best in Austin! It’s one of my guilty pleasures

I have them a 1 — they lady working the counter is super rude. I was collecting a large order in my vehicle from my passengers and I took all of 60 secs and she was snapping at me and try’s to hand me a freaking menu. Like complaining that I was taking to long. Also there was zero cars behind me as well not like it was packed. Last time I will be eating at dans in Buda. Too bad too I came here a lot.

Classic burgers and fries done just right. I actually prefer this location to the one at Ben White and Manchaca. The menu isn’t particularly exciting, but when you just want a good burger, this is the place.

What we got: BBQ burgers with onion rings and curly fries. The burgers and curly fries were really fantastic. This is more your«basic» diner burger, but that’s my favorite kind. I did not like the onion rings. That’s honestly the only reason it isn’t 5 stars because I didn’t even eat them all. And I really like onion rings! The service was great. There was some mix up between me and the very-new guy at the counter and the manager came out to make sure he had it right. Thanks man. It’s always nice to get good service from a place you are spending less than $ 10. I can appreciate that. Dan’s is pretty iconic Austin and I think it deserves it’s place in our history! Keep doing what your doing!

Pretty good burgers. The place has a retro diner feel to it. Tables were dirty.

Their breakfast tacos are cheap and great with extra salsa. They don’t skimp you on the burgers. You get a massive burger unlike FIVEGUYS where you get a tiny wimpy burger. HIGHLY recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner.

We went here for breakfast and boy does it get crowded. Not many options in the area, but we were meeting up with a coworker that just had a baby along with a 2 year old… so we got placed in the corner booth and given coloring book pages and some crayons to keep the little one occupied. Our server was pretty nice, it wasn’t the cleanest set up(fork and some eggs under the table) but this is a greasy spoon diner so I expect this and look forward to it. Even though they were super crowded, we did not get rushed to leave and was still provided great service. We all tried the biscuits and gravy which I thought was good, I had mine with an over easy egg. The omelets and hash browns also look very good as do their sandwiches. I think that it is exactly what it sells itself as so you can’t expect more from it. Greasy, home cooked diner food at it’s best.

Known for great burgers, but, today had breakfast. Three big delicious breakfast tacos with coffee for about $ 8! I love breakfast here
