Arbuckle has something for everyone. Of course, there is a large playground with lots of fun slides, swings, monkey bars, climbing structures, towers, and other kid-centric entertainment. But beyond the playground, down some wooden steps, there is a walking trail that meanders parallel to a creek(it might even be a river) that takes you all along the park and through nature. It’s beautiful! There’s even a bridge that you can cross to get to the other side of the creek, as well as benches along the way to sit and just listen to the trickle of the water and watch squirrels do their rodent things. Near the playground is a brick fireplace where you can grill, as well as some picnic tables. I didn’t see any restroom facilities beyond a portable toilet by the parking lot, which kind of sucks considering how big this park is.

This is where I take dates when it isn’t going well. I do this because being surrounded by things that are pretty is a good excuse to not have to talk. Also, when you are walking, you do not have to make eye contact. You can just walk straight ahead while someone talks to you and you do not even have to listen. All you have to do is keep saying«yeah» at the right times and maybe smile when you can tell they want you to. My favorite time that I ever did this was when I was on a date with a guy called Joey. He was too old for me and liked his dog way too much. They kissed on the mouth, I think. His dog was named Rascal. That is a terrible and dumb name for a dog, I think. I would have named him Stephen with a PH, or maybe Tom. I found Joey very boring. Joey had the worst voice I have ever heard. That is why I had to break up with him. Except I accidentally waited 5 months to do that. Also I didn’t actually break up with him. I sort of just stopped talking to him forever. He left me a lot of voicemails about being sad while crying. I felt okay. Arbuckle is also a great park for thinking about suicide. I like to walk on the railroad tracks here with my headphones in and think about how much I don’t matter. This is a great place to take your kids.
