Your Baker

Sadly I don’t think this review is going to be meaningful considering they are closing today. The owner’s rent was raised, and he tried fruitlessly to sell.
Anyway: the mix of classic desserts and innovative sweets was nice. Chocolate chip cookie Nutella sandwich, pignoli cookie raspberry jam sandwich, peanut butter brownie bites, I could go on, but why reminisce and torture myself. Some please buy this location!

Black and white cookies all the way. They are so fresh and the light. I can’t comment on anything else because all I get from there is the black and white cookie. They give you a wax bag and it’s the best 2.50 I ever spent. Never had a bad cookie from them and I been getting the black and white cookies from then for years.

Your Baker has been in this space since before the turn of the century, dating as far back as 1975, some say. What is equally noticeable is that their name is engraved in the stone façade itself, which is a testament to how long they’ve been around. As far as bakers go, they are as an authentic, old-​school family business as one can remember, and there are fewer and fewer of them on 86^th St. by the day. While there’s nothing special about the décor, their display is well situated for grab and go. There are however, a couple tables where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, if Starbucks next door isn’t to your liking.
I’ve bought cupcakes, which were not exceptional, were appropriate for the price. Their other mainstays are what people look forward to most, like the cakes, muffins, etc. I’ve picked up boxes and boxes of Italian cookies from here in the past. Their rainbow cookies are a delight, and your best bet is to buy these by the pound behind the counter. Their black & whites, if for nothing, you have to try them– They are GI-​normous and worthwhile every chance you get whenever you visit. Get ‘em while you still can.
Rumor has it that the owners are planning on retirement soon, and this in itself is sad, but it is the nature of things. They were not the least bit dissuaded by Panera Bread moving in across the street, nor the other coffee shops cropping up left and right… but one thing is clear, if you love what they do, stop in and let them know you support ‘em.

Ordered a cake here for my 1-​year old Bday party and it was such a hit. People that don’t even like cake had 2 – 3 even 4 slices!!! Wow. They did an unbelievable job. I got a sheet cake to feed 20 – 30 people. I had 25 people and still had some leftover even after people having seconds. I got a vanilla cake filled with both chocolate pudding (1 layer) and vanilla custard (another layer) on the inside. Fresh whipped cream on top and outlined with chocolate mouse. SUPERB. The cupcakes?!? ALSO A HIT. JOB WELL DONE, YOUR BAKER!!!

Been coming here for years. Their black and white cookies and their ice box cheesecake are to die for! A staple on 86^th street, we always visit for birthdays and special occasions. A must try!

Love! The red velvet cake is my favorite! The lobster tails, eclairs, breakfast pastries, icebox cake are others that I love. I force myself to walk by this place because I could easily gain 50 pounds just eating their treats. They are sooo yummy!

I have always seen this store when I go visit my doctors in the neighborhood. Today, I got a plain sugar donut and cinnamon donut. OMG. this is one of the best I ever tasted. Very fresh and not overly sweet. I got a warm welcome too. Great service. I will be back for more goodies!

The almond crescents and Linzer Tarts are to die for. Cookies are delicious. Just be sure you bring CASH. They do not take CC’s at all.

This staple of Bay Ridge never disappoints! I’ve been coming here a long time for their cookies and they are amazing. I stop in every Christmas Eve to get a dish of cookies for my mother-in-law’s house and everyone always says how much they love this bakery. I’ve also had their chocolate cake and it is very good. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Not overpriced like some bakeries, you can get something nice for yourself or someone else at a fair price. You really can’t go wrong here– everything they make is delicious.

Very good brownies and the strawberry cheesecake was great also, not overly sweetened.

If you’re on a diet, close your eyes and cover your nose because the sight and smells from this place are heavenly! Always fresh, delicious and with a smile :)
You must try their black and white cookie! Only downside… CASH ONLY.

This is a very simple, old-​fashioned bakery, and I’m a fan of it for that very reason. The prices are awesome compared to its competitors, and the quality is fantastic — everything we’ve had from Your Baker is fresh (and not sickeningly sweet!). Best Italian rainbow cookies in the neighborhood.

I tried their red velvet cupcakes ($ 1.50 each) and it’s so good! It isn’t too sweet or sour (not sure if they use cream cheese icing or not).
The workers was friendly.

On the walk home from the train, I pass by Your Baker and wish I had a piece of their banana cream pie.
So far, every cake, pie, or pastry that I have eaten from there has been good.
The staff of young girls are very enthusiastic and friendly as well. Only gripe is that I wish they had longer hours.
Try the banana cream pie or apple streusel.

The peanut butter brownie is delicious! They also have plain and oreo flavor, but the pb always hits the spot.

Fresh, just the right amount of sweet and reasonably priced. I love to get a mix of their cookies, especially the apricot filled ones! One of the better bakeries in Bay Ridge to get delicious baked goods.

The Good: Icebox cheesecake, Tiramisu (very light, perfectly executed, 4.5 stars!)
The Bad: Pre-​filled Cannoli (nice citrusy ricotta cream marred by soggy, refrigerated crust)
The Ugly: Rainbow cookies (I can’t believe it’s a Rainbow cookie!)
… everything else (Amaretto and Pignoli cookies, Fudge cake) somewhere in-​between.
They got the name right: Your Baker. Sadly, not My Baker… unless, I lived nearby.

Truth: I come here for the Rainbow Italian cookies. They are delicious! They even have a cake version of it…
The prices are reasonable and comparable to other bakeries around the area. The staff members are especially friendly and welcoming, and it’s a small, cozy, and comfortable bakery with a few tables to quickly inhale your goodies and go!
Bottom line: This place boasts a wonderful selection of quality baked-​goods served with a smile!
