Waterfalls is closed but a new restaurant Sultan has opened in its place. Went there tonight with some friends. They’ve just opened so it wasn’t that busy yet — but I bet it will be soon. Hookahs were perfect. Then we ordered the meat combination platter, the shish kabob, falafel, and vegetarian kabob platter. My friend was really happy that they have the veg kebab platter because she said that’s really hard to find! All the food came out great — meat was perfectly done and tender, veggies are good and the hummus and babaganoush delicious. They had regular high quality pita bread but also a specialty one — slightly spongier — which was even better. Definitely recommend and a nice addition to the neighborhood for both food and hookahs!

Waterfalls has become my local go-to Mediterranean restaurant because of the friendly staff and BYOB policy. The food is good too, despite some inconsistencies. For example, I have had«flat» kebabs and square kebabs. I imagine this is due to different cooks and their preferences. Go figure. The spinach cheese pie is strangely reminiscent of spanikopita, but very good. The spicy potato appetizer is delicious, albeit greasy(just don’t think about calories). The host is the main attraction, making guests feel like long time friends.

I love this place. And I have great memories here with Pareshbhai and Bansari. We ate every veg option and then some. Get the hummus. And falafel. And everything else.

I just ordered a lentil soup and a shrimp wrap for delivery. I’m pretty sure what I got is pea soup. Also, after eating half of my wrap(which is only tiny shrimp and lettuce…), I realized that some of the shrimp are not fully cooked. The guy on the phone was nice about it but I’m super disappointed and I am hoping I don’t get food poisoning.

Every time I come to Brooklyn Heights I got to this spot for lunch. I love the mixed gyro wrap, kid of the reason I go. Yesterday I walked in with two other friends at 2:54 sat down and the waitress promptly greeted us(because there were only two tables with patrons) handed us the menus and said there’s no more lunch. I said when does lunch end? She said 3 pm, I said it’s not 3 pm yet??? She said when we walked in the cook instructed her that he was not serving lunch anymore. I understand although still would not be happy if we arrived 3 mins after 3 pm, but to arrive 6 mins before 3 and to be told there’s no more lunch. I would even understand if there was a big line of «dinner» patrons waiting to be seated, but it was just us. I’m not even sure if we would’ve ordered lunch but the fact that this was told to us in a matter a fact way is ridiculous. This place has never been that friendly, you kinda get the feeling your an outsider it being Middle Eastern. I always looked past it because I generally like the food, but this instance got to me. The place never has more than a couple tables being occupied. Clearly an absentee owner, that the staff can make these decisions based on their own feelings. I think I’m done with this place. To many options on the same street to be abused by this place.

Place seemed clean ! Owner seemed like a nice guy ! Food was good but the portion sides were to small! I probably won t go back for the size of portions I want to leave a place full and not have to fill up on bread!

So very disappointed. I stopped into this restaurant to check it out and pick up a menu. It seemed like a neighborhood establishment… certainly nothing fancy. The hostess was friendly. I ordered a take out of Fattoush Salad and Grilled Chicken. It tasted very good… just as one would expect … good balance of flavors. HOWEVER, after an hour or so my stomach started feeling achy. And then… well, without putting out too much information, I had all the symptoms of food poisoning! I tried calling the restaurant to at least vent my anger, but apparently they closed early. I will definitely call the Health Department. I am still sick as I write this review. SHAMEONTHISRESTAURANT!

Love this place — I used to come here a lot when I worked in Brooklyn. My coworkers and I liked to grab dinner here after work then hit up Trader Joe’s before hopping on the train(because one should never go to Trader Joe’s on an empty stomach). I’ve had the hummus, baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, bread, etc. Nothing like some warm stuffed grape leaves — there’s no mistaking that theirs are fresh and homemade. My faves here are the carrot salad and cauliflower — both packed with flavor. It’s also a very warm and inviting ambiance. This is a reliable dining option in that area.

We came here the other night, so my bf could break fast and have a hearty meal. And not bad. Not bad at all. The Good– The place looks a little homey and gives of a homey vibe. Simple décor and placements. The service was pretty good. I felt like we had alot of little requests, and they were all obliged with, with a smile. Who doesn’t love service with a smile? The food was good and flavourfull. We ordered the chicken kebab, lamb chops, lamb leg, and mixed meat platter. The grilled chicken is moist with proper grill marks. It has the right about of spice to let you know you are not eating American food. The kibbeh was on point as well. Huge, brown colored footballs stuffed with alot of meat and onions. The falaffel were light, fluffy, with a tasty crispy outside. The little bit of Bad– Everything was tasty. My only little complaint was the meat could have been a bit more tender. I felt like the beef kebab was a bit dry. And the leg of lamb should have been a leg of lamb opposed to bits cut from the leg of lamb and placed on a plate. I want to feel like a savage and I can’t do so when I have the option of picking up the lamb pieces with a fork. I also though the price was reasonable. We(5 people) ordered 4 apps and 4 main courses, and the bill was less than 170. The place is byob. They will provide you with a wine bucket and do not charge a corkage fee. The Overall– I’ll come again. I want to try the pizzas.

Love EVERYTHING about Waterfalls– i think my husband and I either eat at or order form Waterfalls at least once a week, which is pretty amazing considering the plethora of options in the area. Many vegetarian options, which is super liberating, albeit a little flustering when it comes time to order. The best thing about Watterfalls? BYOBBABY! The woman at the front can be a bit cold for my taste, but nothing will warm you back up like wine from a bag from home. And the amazing cuisine.

I love the food here. I used to eat here every Thursday when I worked at the bar two doors down. People complained when the old owner sold it because they changed something about it but I thought it got loads better. They make the pita from scratch and the owner is a really friendly nice guy. The only place that would beat this is Hadramout(sp) but I really only went there because it was open 24 hours. That place had the best Schwarma ever, I think it is closed now. This place is rock solid. I always change it up, but usually get a sandwich.

Pros: the lady who cooks the food, Samira, is a genius. This is one of the few places in New York where you can get mulukhieh, the stew made of meat and jute leaves(yes, the stuff they make rugs out of, Latin name corchorus olitorius, aka«Jew’s Mallow” – that is indeed the English name, and if you can tell me why I will buy you a lifetime supply of it). You either love it or hate it, and chances are if you love okra, then you will love mulukhieh. If you hate okra, then you’ll probably hate everything I love in this world. Waterfalls also makes an excellent okra stew, both vegetarian and meat. Their meze are mediocre, by the way, so skip them. You can get hummus anywhere. Waterfalls is for home cooking: stuffed zucchini, homemade lamb pizza, stews. The service is wonderful too, by the way. AND they let you BYOB at no extra charge. Con: And now I have to point out something that pains me greatly. That meat that they tell you, on the menu, is lamb? It’s not. It used to be – not so long ago, all the stews came with lamb, WHICHISWHATITSTILLSAYSONTHEMENU. But now, the«management» lies to your face and tells you it’s lamb, when it is actually beef, which is much cheaper. This is fine if you like beef okay, but not if you’re expecting lamb, which people often tend to do when THATITWHATITSAYSONTHEMENU. The first time it happened, I figured, hey, maybe they just ran out. The second time I asked the server what was up. A little sheepishly(pun intended), our server confirmed that they don’t use lamb any more, although they still lie and pretend to, and that this is one of the many«reforms» undertaken by the new owner. A message to Mr. Owner: My friend, lying to your customers about what’s in their food is a bad, bad business model. A really stupid, pointless decision. A good way to go out of business. I’m one of your most loyal customers – I’ve been coming to Waterfalls for well on thirteen years. But I don’t take kindly to being lied to. Especially about what I’m eating. If you’re lying about the lamb, what else are you lying about?

Confession: I didn’t want to like this restaurant. Since moving to the neighborhood last year, my boyfriend and I have become devoted diners at Tripoli — a Lebanese spot just down the street. Didn’t even give Waterfalls a chance… …Until last week. We decided to mix it up and give the spot a chance. Took a bottle of wine for a lowkey BYOB dinner. And damn. Let me tell you. We were back just yesterday for another fabulous meal. Everything we’ve had, which is all vegetarian, was exceptionally fresh, flavorful, and delicious: hummus, babba, pita bread baked in the back, stuffed eggplant, fattoush salad. And special shout out to the cauliflower, which is out of this world. Waterfalls gets bonus points for having a ton of vegetarian items on the menu. Service is so-so, admittedly — one server there seems really frosty. But when the food is this good, I can overlook it. And maybe she’ll warm up to me when I start coming in every three days for dinner.

Absolutely love this place. Come with friends and share a veggie or meat(depending on your mood) platter for two and you’ll be satisfied. The prices have went up slightly but it’s still BYOB so I’m not complaining. Service is warm and hospitable, never making you feel like you’ve over-stayed your welcome. One of my favorite Middle Eastern spots in the neighborhood.

Extremely disappointing meal. Ordered delivery tonight of multiple items(lahambajin, sharwarma platter, spinach pie). Asked for hummus on the side and was charged extra which I found strange given the delivery menu said it was included. Food came on time and was warm. That’s about the only compliment I can come up with. The lahambajin was very atypical compared to the other restaurants in the area. Seemed to be absent of any spice at all. The spinach pie was some sort of calzone type preparation, and had very little feta. The sharwarma was the most disappointing. It had no resemblance of coming off a spit, and was overcooked and chewy strips of(I presume) lamb meat. Lastly, the ordered hummus was not included. Called the restaurant to complain about the hummus and was told that I must have missed the hummus in the bag and to check again… Thanks waterfalls. Seriously, I know this place has a long history in the neighborhood, but I would strongly advise to not order from this restaurant. There are plenty of places in the neighborhood with excellent similar food, don’t waste your time or money here.

We got caught in the torrential downpour last night on our way to the Slurring Bee at Last Exit(look it up, it’s just as fantastic as it sounds) and needed to grab a quick bite nearby. Enter Waterfalls, a tastefully decorated Middle Eastern restaurant on Atlantic just a few doors down from the bar. There’s a substantial menu(very vegetarian friendly, I noted) with plenty of appetizers, pizzas, and platters. Though I will note that the wraps/gyros aren’t available to order for dinner unless it’s take-out, which I found odd. I actually arrived a little before my date and ordered the chicken shwarma platter. The woman serving me was fine when I came in, but oddly enough, once my boyfriend got there, pretty rude to both of us. Maybe she was upset that we were going to share an entrée? She shouldn’t have been, considering it was $ 13.75 with tax for a single entrée. Call me crazy, but that’s WAY too much for the food being served. Sure, it was tasty chicken and the pita was fresh, but there was nothing overly special about it — definitely nothing to make it worth more than $ 10. And the service really didn’t help — she glared at us when I asked politely for more water, and didn’t say a word as I asked for the check and paid it. I felt very unwelcome in her restaurant. On top of the prices, that would merit 2 stars — but the food IS good, if expensive. So, three stars — but I hope they’re friendlier if you visit!

My friends and I came here on a Friday night, after we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge from Battery Park and let’s just say we built ourselves a pretty good appetite by the time we walk through those doors. This local neighborhood restaurant was definitely cozy and it was decorated nicely with Middle Eastern artworks. We were seated immediately and I have to say their service here was very friendly and attentive. We ended up ordering a few dishes, but what really stood out for me immediately and gave this restaurant that extra star was the fact that they make fresh pita bread(75¢) on the premise!!! Seriously, I have never tasted fresh pita bread before, but when I finally did, boy was it good! Their pita bread was soft, chewy and extremely warm to the touch and was complimented really well with a side order of their babaganoush and hummus. All in all, their dishes were extremely tasty, healthy and fresh. I highly recommend their garlic pita, if you’re a complete garlic-fanatic like myself then I would say get this and their chicken shawarma platter! ______________________________________________ *As I was writing this review I couldn’t help but to notice Alicia A’s review. Although I understand her side of the story, I have to say seems to be the culprit. I’ve brought a few coupons from them and been told at a few restaurants, after I presented the coupon, that they don’t participate in it even though they have repeatedly asked to be removed from their website. Either case, I would suggest to call and ask for a refund instead. **Menu:

Thought this place did a great job with our rather large® group that we had for dinner. Very attentive waiter who made sure we always had enough bread and water. We ordered an array of appetizers, including goat cheese pizza & eggplant salad– both delicious! Main course– chicken kabob(my standard), and the portions were huge! :) I loved that with every main dish you get a choice of babagonoush or hummus.

Good location and there is usually food left over. The price is right too. This is a good place to take friends or relatives that have endless pits for stomachs. It is basic at best in terms of décor. Just about everything we have tried on our many visits was delicious. It is more authentic than many of the other so called Middle Eastern restaurants in Brooklyn that we have been to. We have eaten in and done take out many times. I think we prefer take out. But the food is good either way.

As usual, heard about this restaurant through Unilocal,my official savior. After reading the reviews, I’d wanted to try the spinach pie along with something else, but I’d heard that the spinach pie was humongous, so I heavily suggested(not forced, definitely not forced) that my friends share it with me. I also ordered the chicken shawarma platter with rice and hummus. I actually wasn’t a big fan of the spinach pie. For some reason I thought it’d be slightly creamier. I guess this teaches me not to make assumptions. I mean, it was still perfectly fine, and my friends loved it, but I thought the feta cheese made it a little too salty for my taste. I really loved the chicken shawarma platter, though, and man was it huge. The chicken had good flavors, and the salad was fresh. I especially liked the hummus and the personal pizza-sized piece of pita that they gave me to go with it. Hummus + chicken + pita = total win. I think my jeans were about to bust by the time I finished eating. My friends practically had to roll me out of the restaurant. And all this overeating only cost me around $ 15. Food for more than your money’s worth? I don’t see a problem with that.
