The space was nice and it was a good place to take the kids, but overall I was not impressed. My tacos were OK, nothing special. My daughter got a quesadilla that was literally just cheese and tortilla and was expensive. This place is pretty overpriced too. They upcharge if you want to add anything. Service was not very friendly, though they were relatively quick.

This place is very popular for good reason! Open lively space, consistent food, options for carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans alike. It’s also great for mixed appetites. When I’m in the mood from something light, but my boyfriend is starving: this is the perfect spot. I can have a taco, while he chows down on a burrito.
Their guac is good. The jalapeño margaritas are great. I also really appreciate that they seem to have solid staff who stick around; we’ve been going there for years and always see familiar faces.
My one and only issue: I really really love their mission burrito, but too often my enjoyment of it is taken down a few notches when I bite into bitter tasting bruised potatoes. And that has been the same for years. I really wish they would make more of an effort to clean the potatoes, and omit any bruised bits. (Boyfriend thinks I’m a bit over-​sensitive in this regard.)

So why 3 stars? Well, when you order their delicious tortilla soup for delivery, they give you a serving that’s easily half the size than what you get at the restaurant (I know because I’ve had it there), yet they charge you the same price. Actually, they charge $ 1 more.
The first time I ordered it I thought maybe it was a mistake, but after ordering a second time I decided to call and ask about it. All they said is «that’s the size of the container so there’s nothing we can do». I happen to think there are two solutions for this problem: get a bigger container, or lower the price of the soup.

Good place! If you have Mexican monchies is perfect! It’s the direct proportionality between money and food amount, you can find good Mexican food in a truck but here you pay the extra one, the burrito is extremely big and the Bowl is awesome. They have one of the best micheladas!

I’m often on Grand St, so I’d been meaning to pop by here for a while. Came for a late dinner on a weeknight. There were only two or three other tables, so luckily the service was quick. Boyfriend had the pork burrito, and while he said the sauce was killer, there wasn’t quite enough meat in it, especially for the price. I had the steak taco and the shrimp. The steak was good, though nothing mind-​blowing. The shrimp was amazing, though! Usually I’m a taco purist, but the chipotle mayo sauce was out of this world. I’d definitely come back to try more things off the menu!

«BEWARE». If you live around williamsburg housing do not order from this place. Their delivery person is not comfortable with this neighborhood due to past experiences. Crime can happen anywhere. Although i do understand bein a maillady and having run ins with dogs, scared to deliver to the same house. It took them an hour to inform me. I could have called morelos or dannys pizzeria. They take chances everyday. Whateva.

Came in kind of early so it was empty. For starters we ordered the quesadillas, very very fresh. After I had the chicken burrito. pretty good and I had enough to take home (always a plus). Waiter was pleasant. Will definitely be back, I mean why not they played Kendrick Lamar whole album! Dope huh? lol.

NACHOS! NACHOS! NACHOS! That’s all I have to say. They have the greatest nachos in the world! The service was great as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty, piled high nachos!

Calling it: Taco Chulo has my favorite vegetarian burrito in America and it is the ‘Hot Blonde’ — Rajas and fried serranos, pinto beans, cabbage, salsa verde, queso and crema. I’ve had it dozens of times and I can’t get enough.
Portions are generous and there are options for everyone. Vegan, vegetarian, carnivorous, whatever. They’ve got it. Added bonus: The table sauces are insanely good — Especially the pinkish one.

Taco Chulo is rather a large space for a Williamsburg restaurant. The service was good, very lovely waitress. I ordered the Camarones (shrimp) taco and chips with guacamole. Both were very delicious! The taco was so, so good! The strawberry margarita on the rocks was yummy! Didn’t taste too much like tequila. The frozen lime was too icy though, and it had no flavor — so I recommend sticking to the margaritas on the rocks! Will be back for more tacos!

I’ve had better tacos. Tortilla doesn’t hold up, they stuff the tacos to over compensate for their Ober charged mediocre style and taste.
Stuffing the taco doesn’t make it a good taco.

This place is fantastic all around!
My husband and I went here on a Sunday, and while they were a bit busy, we were seated right away. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and always available when we needed her.
The menu itself is bonkers — so many great things to choose from! We shared the chips and salsa and I had the Santa Cruz taco (which was very good!!). The overall interior design is nice (colorful, as you might expect) and this may seem random, but I was impressed with how clear their bathrooms are — an easy thing to forget, but important nonetheless.
Come here for good service and damn good Mexican! :)

Totally acceptable ‘ritos. It feels gross to order a burrito that’s called a «pimp mobile with extra hoe sauce» but I try to sidestep saying the embarrassing names by just pretending to be a mute and pointing at things on the menu and nodding.
I could really go for one right now. Good first date spot or good breakup spot.

I want to love this place but I can’t. I like it. The guac is decent. The tacos are inventive and often good. The service and wait time is constantly fine or lacking.
Once as a large group we waited 50 minutes for the food. I called the manager aside and said this was a bit much, and that the custom was to address such a long wait, and could she bring some chips and salsa. There were 8 of us.
She brought the chips and salsa.
When the bill came we’d been charged for them. Fine. I ordered them. But we’d waited nearly and hour for our burritos. She shoulda comped them. And then she autogratted us 20%. We all vowed never to come back. And we don’t.
Tonight’s take out no incident, but spoons for utensils. No forks. And delicious.

I don’t know how to feel about Taco Chulo. I have only been for a full sit down meal once and it was for a perfectly adequate brunch date. I have however sat down to eat at the bar more than once and gotten delivery a few times.
There is something about the food that is just so… not worth the price. It isn’t bad mind you, it’s why I keep going back. The service is either really friendly or somewhat dismissive. I once sat down to eat at the bar solo and the bartender was downright rude. Other times they have been chill — its a crapshoot.
The drinks are expensive but they are quite good. The top self margarita is a really, really good drink.
Delivery is pretty speedy and the food comes hot and in good shape.
If you are in the area and looking for some tex mex knock yourself out. But don’t expect to be wowed by anything but the bill.
