I loved the service, the location, and especially the food. Took my best friend & her fiancé her for their anniversary about two years back. Sad to hear they have closed the doors. But I don’t think it’s forever.

Food was great. Lost one star due to no alcoholic drinks and cash only. FYI you can bring your own bottle…

I just found out that Kaz An Nou has closed its doors forever and I shed a tear. I can’t even put into words how distraught I am. Please come back, Kaz An Nou. Please, I beg you!!! I’m going to go cry into a shitty pizza now.

Closed!!! Really? Why? I hope the positive things being written by me and several other Unilocalers, can help open the place back up. This place was a gem, and I didn’t want anyone to know about it. If it means I have to tell the world so it stays open, so be it. King Solomon style. Do not hurt this baby! Some really amazing food is made here, especially the poultry. All duck and chicken dishes were fantastic. The escargot was my favorite appetizer here. I’ll be honest, the food never blew me away like how some people state, but it was always on point and really good. The staff was always friendly, the venue itself was on the small side, but it was nice and cozy. The wait could be overbearing and cash only intimidates some folk, but that’s just being silly. Arrive early. Get to a place like this around 6:30 and you should be fine. Cash only isn’t the end of the world people. Take out some money before hand. Besides, you’re saving money here… BYOB! They didn’t care what you brought in, though I do wish they provided a bucket or something for what you did. Some beers might get a little bit warm, and if you have some white wine it’s going to be a problem. Besides that, Kaz An Nou was always a great restaurant to have in the neighborhood. While it might be a little too late, I really liked this place and wish for it’s return. If not, we had some great times. It’ll be missed.

No idea why this place would close, I hope that it’s just a rumor. We came here about 2 weeks ago for dinner and we were so glad that we just beat the rush. This restaurant doesn’t accept reservations, doesn’t take cards, and doesn’t serve alcohol, you have been warned! We were seated right away and ordered quickly. The service was remarkably fast and the food was amazing! Definitely the type of place any couple can enjoy together for the food and atmosphere. Small location, tables are cramped, but everyone minded their own business and was completely lost in their meals. We ordered escargot to start off, then the fish special of the day and the jerk chicken. The escargot came piping hot with an intoxicating smell. We used two baskets of bread just to soap up every little bit of the escargot and sauce. It was superb! Then we dug into the fish and jerk chicken. Fish was a whole grilled fish with a side of coconut rice and string beans. Perfectly seasoned and juicy, no complaints about the fish at all. The jerk chicken was a little dry but when paired with the sauce, it was just right. There is a good amount of goat cheese included with the jerk chicken dish so if you’re sensitive to the goat cheese smell, stay away from this dish. Chicken also came with the coconut rice and beans so don’t be afraid that you won’t have enough to eat. All in all, the staff and cooks really take care of you. The food was amazing, as mentioned, and the atmosphere was cute and intimate.

I visited the night before they close without realizing the epic of the situation. There was a three hour wait but my party was able to be seated after waiting about 30 minutes. They had already ran out of two entrees. Fine. I order the Branzino and my friend the chicken. After waiting a bit, we were told they were having problems with the oven and they would keep us informed. I guess it wasn’t our lucky day. We were told the oven stopped working and there would be no food for us. Everyone else seated before us got their food. We were given a free appetizer and a free dessert as compensation. They were good. Just wish I had some real food.

I’ve been crying myself to bed every night since I found out Kaz An Nou was closing. The BYOB, the lovely waitress, the décor, the coziness of the inside and the excellent food all contribute to one of my favorite dining experiences I’ve ever had. I only have three words left to say before I say bye to Kaz An Nou for good: BESTCHICKENEVER

I just read on Eater that Kaz an Nou is closing on Nov. 23. That makes me a) sad, and b) feel guilty that I didn’t write a deservedly glowing review earlier — not that it would have stopped them from losing their lease, I guess. I will miss the friendly service and intimate setting(and really good live music on Sunday evenings.) I will also miss the fantastic whole fish with coconut rice, the delicious jerk chicken, and the burger(man, that was a good burger). But most of all I’ll miss having a unique neighborhood place with fantastic food so close to home. The no-corkage fee BYOB policy made up for the cash-only policy. I really hope whoever the landlord is gets stuck with a vacant space as punishment, and that Kaz an Nou 2.0 opens up not too far away.

I can not believe I have not written a review for Kaz An Nou yet! Oh, I now remember why… Because I don’t want anyone to know about it. With a no reservation policy, it’s first come first serve. If you don’t come here by 6pm on a Saturday, expect to wait and wait. Restaurant go-ers love to take their time at Kaz An Nou and I can’t blame them. The restaurant feel is carribean, intimate and yet casual. There is a round table for a large group but I suggest to keep the group size small so seating will be easier. Most of the tables are for 2 people and they’ll have to wait and combine the tables for a big group. So far, all the food has been amazing — flavorful and unique to the carribean/french theme. Prices are extremely affordable especially when you can BYO. The staff are always cheerful and extremely helpful. My husband and I bought beer and wine and they gave noticed and gave us separate glasses for each. Cash only.

I got the buttercup squash(note — not butternut… I didn’t know there was a difference until I looked it up when I got home) tart tonight and it was delicious. It was butternut squash, caramelized onions, and goat cheese on a flaky/buttery puff pastry with a side of salad with yummy dressing. The dish was light but filling(resembled pizza), tasty and $ 15. For some reason they don’t have this listed on the menu on their website(I guess they haven’t updated the site). I was really tempted to get the fritters(an appetizer for $ 10) but our neighbor got them and they were so teeny tiny that I’m glad I didn’t. My boyfriend got the burger and thought it was just okay. He thought my food was better. He loved the white sweet potato fries but they were super skimpy with their serving size — it looked like less than a handful of fries was placed on his plate. Now that I’ve reviewed the food I’ll review the experience. This is an intimate, popular shop pretty close to barclay center. Luckily we found parking right away at 7:00pm on a saturday night. It was just the two of us and there was a group of four and a couple waiting to be seated when we arrived. We ended up having to wait for about 30 — 40 mins to be seated, and another 20 — 30 minutes for our food. Since the place is packed you will be squished right in with a couple beside you. I did like that the benches/seating along the wall had comfy throw pillows though. It was a little jarring to look over at the door though and see a crowd of people eyeing you over — just waiting for you to be finished with your meal so they can sit down and eat. We definitely didn’t feel rushed by the staff but you do get a sense that they are waiting to shoo you out the door — especially since the hostess will frequently update the people waiting on who’s getting started on desserts, starting entrees, etc while glancing at your plates, etc. Also, it sucks waiting there because the door is always opening and closing letting in the cold air. I definitely would want to come back for more of those tarts, which reminded me of spanakopita — just with squash — but we will definitely do that on a weekday the next time and avoid the weekends. TIPS * Cash Only * Bring your own beer * They don’t take reservations * Don’t come on a weekend if you have a party of three — you throw off everything

Okay, this review is late but here goes. I went to this restaurant a little while ago after a doctor’s appt. It was small but crowded. I was seated by a very friendly waitress immediately and got comfortable. I looked at the menu to find out they do not take cards, annoyed, I stepped out to get cash. Starving now, I began to order. I started to order wine, when I was informed that I would have to BYOB. Frustrated, the waitress turned it around. She bought me a grapefruit beer(awesome) and it was delicious. It was her own beer that she bought for herself. I loved it and I don’t even drink beer. I asked her where she got it from, and she said the corner so I bought a few of them and replaced hers. The food: DELICIOUS. I had the duck and it was YUMMY, definitely a must! In conclusion, if you come here, BYOB and some cash and you will have an awesome meal with great service!

We had the escargots, and it was really good. We soaked our bread in the escargots garlic butter, and it was awesome. Our entrees were just an ok: the roasted fish and jerk chicken. I seriously thought both were bland consider I am a big fan of caribbean food and flavors. Restaurant was small and dark, but staff was super cool and friendly.

This is indeed a gem. I’ll keep coming back. The good: food was amazing. Their menu is limited but what they offer they do perfectly. I recommend the escargot, chicken, and burger(best I’ve ever had). It’s byob! Isn’t that great! Atmosphere. Cool music playing. Comfortable seats. Intimate. Great for dates. Open back yard with communal seating. Prices. Anywhere else you’d be paying much more. The fact that they don’t serve liquor, have a limited menu, and is cash only — I’m sure reduces their costs, which is reflected in their prices. The bad: Cash only All in all, it’s worth a trip out if you’re not local. Everything I tasted was amazing. This is my goto dinner place.

5th star for the fact that they brought out a spicy chocolate cake with two candles for Susan N. and me in honor of our birthday’s being that week. After we paid the bill. Awesome. Other stars for the food, the service, the BYOB, the great atmosphere. Try the Accras and the Poisson Frais — you will not be disappointed. Great outdoor space with a communal table for the less-than-sultry days of summer dining.

I am so grateful to my friend who told me about this gem in Prospect Heights. On her recommendation, I took a group of friends here, one of whom was visiting from out of town, for a nice, relaxed dinner. What we got was much more impressive! First off, this place is tiny, dimly lit, and very intimate. We’re talking ten tables maximum. It is run by two cooks and an amazing server, Ava. She was very friendly, knowledgable about their menu, and quick to open our bottles of wine. It’s a BYOB restaurant, so there were many to open! The food was fantastic as well. My friend and I shared the escargot, smoked jerk chicken with goat cheese, and the burger. Everything tasted incredible, but I must say the surprising standout was the burger! It is one of the best I’ve had in the city. And their desserts were fantastic as well! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was very warm and intimate, and the service was top notch. I highly recommend checking this place out, and I will surely be returning.

What I love about this place? BYOB + reasonable prices + lovely atmosphere = instant great spot. We had the escargot for appetizer and it was super delicious! We kept asking for more bread to soak up the yummy sauce! I had the fish(seafood lover) and my boyfriend had the chicken. I thought my fish was ok… a lot of bones. My boyfriend really liked his chicken though, although he said the portions were small. I loved how we had the window seat and there was almost no wait!!! Overall, it was a great spot to go if I’m in the area.

Came here for a birthday surprise on a Friday night. Unfortunately they will only seat when the whole group arrive so we lost the table and went round the corner for a drink untill they called us. Approx 90 mina later we go the call. This was fine as the group were all in good spirits but might be a prob if you are on a romantic night out. That being said then place is extremely cozy and staff are very friendly and you immediately feel relaxed. Wait is that classic 80s music in the back ground, I just had a flash back to soul train . Now down to the food. Its French Caribbean with a short sweet menu. After reading other Unilocal reviews as you do I was swayed towards the escargots folllowed by the duck confit. Other dishes on the table were pâté in puff pastrt, chicken jerk, whole cooked fish and the burger. The escargots were good but very heavily covered in a garlic and parlsey. The duck was not great, probably the most disappointing dish from our selection. over cooked with too much sauce. The whole fish was probably the best thing on the table but again very heavily flavored. The burger was good. But just a burger. The chicken jerk was in coconut and all though the chicken was cooked perfectly the sauce didnt work for me. Desserts The coconut flan was amazing… very light and great flavor. The spicy chocolate cake isn’t that spicy at all its just a chocolate cake but not bad with a custard kind of drizzle. To summarize this place has great music, ambience and its BYOB. Its very affordable and we had a great evening. On the downside its a huge wait and I felt like they are trying to hard with some of the flavoring. But wait I’m not French or Caribbean so what do I know. They told me they switch up the menu so I would prob go back for sure. Ambience 5 * Food. 3 * Music 5 * BYOB. But its cash only so bring the dollars.

I was looking for somewhere to eat around Barclays Center and used my handy dandy Unilocal app and Kaz An Nou showed up on my radar. BF and I showed up around 7:15 on a Friday evening and were able to get a table immediately. This place was cute! BYOB. Dimly lit and a little too warm for my liking, but still very cute. I was super intrigued by «French» and«Caribbean» flavors when I looked this place up. I did notice as the night went on, that more and more people were coming by and were forced to be put on a wait list, so come early if you don’t want to wait! To start, we ordered the escargot. The slightly spicy oil/garlic mixture was amazing. Make sure you get extra bread! Escargot was tender but they could have a had a bit more flavor themselves. BF got the house burger, which he said was just«ok». He’s kind of a burger snob. I had a bite and though it is a bit plain, it was still a decent burger. The sweet potato fries though — those were impressive. I got the duck confit with mango jerk sauce and coconut rice. This was yummy! My only complaint is there wasn’t nearly enough mango jerk sauce and the rice was a tad bit soggy. Flavors were all very good. Overall, very glad I checked out this spot I otherwise would have never known about if it weren’t for my Unilocaler friends :)

Absolutely love this place. Small and Cozy, very intimate. Ordered the escargots, avocado, duck confit, jerk chicken, and both deserts.(spicy chocolate cake and apple one). Brought two bottles of wine with us and beet the evening rush.(7pm). As mentioned in many reviews, food is mind blowing. The owner was there, we recognized him from the pictures, and he was having great success with a party of women celebrating a birthday. He came up to us and was quite the gentleman. Always overlooking everything went smoothly. I must also give props to the server/host/food runner/everything gal keeping it together during the rush on a Friday night. Love everything about it. Props! :) Try everything on the dish. Can’t wait to return.
