Asian food at its finest :)) I had the steamed beef rice noodle, shu mai, custard buns, etc. the food was freshly made. The reason for 4 stars is because of the service. I felt as if we were rushed out, and the wait was a little too long. Great place to eat though!

I came for dim sum with my family on Saturday around 12 and we had to wait for over 30 minutes since it was super crowded and it’s not a big restaurant. Based on the wait and the average-tasting food, I would go elsewhere where there’s less of a wait. THe piggy buns are definitely super cute but I’ve also had better egg custard buns.

Place gets pretty packed, especially weekends but their dimsum is probably one of the best in Benson Hurst(if not the best). I particularly like their shrimp rice rolls(«ha-cherng»), steamed pork over squash(«pai-gwut»), and black pepper short ribs(«ow-jai-gwut»). Come early especially if you’re in a pack, otherwise expect a wait.

There are not too many dim sum restaurants that serve dim sum near 86 street unless you are planning to drive to 8th ave. The wait for the Golden Bay is long so be prepared to wait for a table. They serve dim sum here in cart style. Golden Bay want to serve the highest volume of customers. So they pack the restaurant with tables. Since it so packed some table are unable to get to the lady pushing the cart and have to reach over other tables. I have to say that this is definitely not the best way to serve dim sum. We place an order on some of the rice noodle dim sum but it took 30 minutes to arrive. Our table was finish with most of the dishes before the two rice noodle dim sum arrived. The other dim sum is super tasty and they have a decent selection minus the fried food dim sum. At the moment, I will be back to try Golden Bay.

I like this place a lot. My parents are big fans of dim sum; thus, once in a blue moon, we head here for some delicious dishes. What is dim sum you might ask. It’s actually Chinese version of tapas. These are small dishes that you share family style. It’s a great way to try something new. My favorite dish is the spring rolls. I know«say what!» I have a shellfish allergy hence I am glad this place has spring rolls without shrimps. Also, I love that this place has crunchy spring rolls. If they sit too long, they are soggy. The waitress, who pushes the cart, would ask you if you want them cut. Also, I recommend asking for Worcestershire sauce on the side. It’s a game changer. Want to really blow away the hostess? Ask them for Bo Lay Cha. It’s Chinese for tea with black tea leaves. Enjoy!!!

Pros: cheap, conveniently located by d train station, sanitary(ladies wear a sanitary mask when service food) food is appealing to eye and open till late afternoon. Cons: crowded even on weekdays, slow service, sometimes require table sharing and food servers harassing you to order every 5 minutes. I been here a couple times to yumcha on a weekday and on weekends. Getting a table can be hard and require around a 30 minutes to an hour estimate wait. The larger your party is the longer the wait basically since large tables are often occupied. Sometimes service takes a bit longer since the ladies do have to push their cart around the whole floor. If they run out of something you can always request it. I usually get their custard bun which is piggy shaped. Good for kids and childish person like me. On average my meal comes out to about 5 $ to 9 $ per person which I find is a good deal if you want a yummy and filling meal. Note if you are driving you might have trouble finding parking around there especially on weekends so ditch the car if you can or park a bit further down and stroll to the restaurant.

This is a fairly new restaurant on the busy 86th street strip. They serve dim sum(Chinese tapas breakfast) in the morning. So decided to try it out on a weekend. On Saturday morning the restaurant was full. We had to wait a bit for a 3 person table. Ended up sharing a table with other people, which is common especially if you’re only a few people(FYI: if you never had dim sum). Of course dim sum, it’s a must to order tea. We usually get chrysanthemum tea(ju hua cha). It’s my favorite. Like all dim sum restaurants, they serve the same classic dishes. Had the usual, spare ribs, short ribs, chicken feet, eggplant, chive dumpling, shrimp rice roll, fried cruller rice roll, congee, pork dumpling, and more. Also had these really cute piggy buns. It’s basically a custard bun inside with a pig face outside. Super adorable. They have carts with the dishes that get pushed around the restaurant and it came to our table quite often. Which is a plus, since this restaurant is a decent size and not overly huge. You get a piece of paper when you sit down, where they stamp each dish you get in different pricing categories. At the end of your meal flag down a waiter and they will calculate the total. Leave tips at the table and pay the total at the front where the cashier is. And there you have it. That’s basically how dim sum works.

New around the neighborhood but already very crowded during dim sum hours. Be prepared to wait or share tables with others. They have unique dim sum items like pork stomach in pepper soup, piggy face custard buns, and rice roll wrap crunchy fried veges. Can’t complain about the standard Chinese way of communication and service. If you share a table, watch out whose bill they take to stamp! Otherwise food is pretty good,

Usually don’t like traditional chinese food too much. But the food is very very good. The complimentary soup(vegetable soup) is also very good. Definitely come here with your family! Non-chinese families should come prepared…

Came in to yum cha with my family and I was a bit surprised because yum cha has always been a «before 1 pm» type of thing for me but at this place, you can yum cha till almost 3 pm. Their food is consistent. Their shu mai and shrimp dumpling are absolutely delicious! My family also decided to order the mixed chinese vegetable with egg flat noodle. It was just a tad bit bland but very good nonetheless. At times, it can be difficult to track down one of the ladies pushing the carts around but you can always ask a waiter/waitress to help you look for something. If they do not have what you want, sometimes they will tell you and suggest you another item and other times they will tell the kitchen staff and they will tell you that they are making it. One thing they do, because this place gets crowded and there always seem to be people waiting for a table, is that they put you in a table with other people. So you share table with other families. I don’t mind but some people are not a fan of that. Probably one of my favorite place to yumcha.

came recently for a family birthday dinner for 12 and the waiter/manager is SO hospitable! we ordered the huge crab in the tank, cooked 2 ways — steamed and all cut up for you and crab fried rice which didn’t have much crab roe /flavor. the dishes all came out one after the other and kept everyone eating. to list all the dishes –cilantro pork soup with baby scallops, garlic roasted chicken, short ribs, eggplant chicken w/salty fish, water spinach, clams w/black bean sauce, fried squid, shrimp w/mayo, steamed live fish, garlic steamed crab legs w/noodles, sweet n sour pork chops, crab fried rice, steamed veggies. everything was super tasty and fresh, no complaints from my family either which is a change!

Just like your basic restaurant with carts wheeling around, more like. Shumai as I would assume would not be «wowing fantastic» since I know of the fact that most or even all – restaurants buy frozen foods. The service here did not amuse me; however I didn’t have much of a high expectation. The food is averagely great but also begins my wonders on how it’s cooked and how long has it been stacked in the carts, being heated up? I’d strongly urge for the employees to speak English better and not just shout in Cantonese or whatever the language might be(sorry I can’t tell). My first bad experience was when I asked one of the employees about their wifi(they have free wifi and the password is the server name aka«goldenbay»). The waiter was quite rude just shouting«GOLDENBAYWIFIWIFIGOLDENWIFIBAYGOLDENBAY.» And I was just there confused. Thus I asked again saying, «What’s the wifi password?» and the waiter said, «WIFIYESPASSWORDGOLDENBAYYESPASSWORDWIFI.» Not really of such a clear communication. My second bad experience was when I realized they gave us a table cloth with some food residue. Like chunks of it stuck to the cloth. It grossed me out and all they did was flick away one of the big chunks. Not that sanitary! My third bad experience was when I asked if they had ginger ale. Instead of replying with a proper or much more — appropriate answer, the waiter said«OKGINGERALE.» Few minutes later I asked someone else and they told me there was no ginger ale. Thus I asked for their selection of sodas, oh hahaha how they ignored me! May that be a FOURTH bad experience here, not really happy however I do have my can of NESTEA Limón Ice Tea to sip on. Might be ordering the cute piggy buns later.

2.5STARS PROS: — It’s new. — Waiter was pretty nice. Offered us ice cold water as it seems like the AC in the back(near the dragons/phoenix) don’t work because it was kind of hot and stuffy in the back. — Fried Eggplants with the shrimp paste in the middle. [that’s my favorite] It seemed to be pretty popular as I had to ask the pushing cart ladies more than 5 times if they got it. — Shrimp Rice Noodle — Pretty decent THEOKAY: — Piggies Bao — The pigs caught my interest that I just had to try one. It was just Nai Wong Bao — the ones with yellow egg custard in the middle. Appearance was its cute and unique as other restaurants don’t make it like that. Taste-wise it was Ok. I had better ones that are piping hot and the yellow egg custard comes oozing out. — Chicken Feet — they have peanuts on the bottom — so anyone with peanut allergy beware. Typically this dim sum does not contain peanuts but with black beans instead. It was pretty good. It was very saucy on the bottom. On the top the chicken feet weren’t marinated as well. However I had better chicken feet in Chinatown. — Fried dough with Rice Noodle wrapped around — Here, they make it with cilantro and I don’t really like cilantro. Another problem I had with this was that the fried dough was kind of chewy — like not fresh. It’s supposed to be crispy and crunchy. — Fried Tofu Wrap around Shrimp — Ehhh it was Ok. I don’t really like this in general but we ordered it because my friend wanted to try. CONS: — long wait lines for dim sum. Waited approx 30min to get a seat for 2 people. — Fried Turnip/Radish(Law Bak Go) — Taste was flat. It was kind of hard and it was not fried well. It was mostly steamed and they barely fried it making it chewy and unpleasant. This is a standard dim sum dish. How can they mess this up? FYI — Medium dim sum dishes are $ 3 a plate.

What I like about this restaurant is that it is quite spacious compare to other Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. We came here on Father’s Day. It was a full house but the service was still attentive. And the food was absolutely amazing!!! I especially love the whole chicken in Chinese herbs which can only be found here accordingly to the waiter. It was really mouth watering. We finished the whole thing; my husband almost chew the bones. We also ordered the Alaskan crabs which was very fresh. Other dishes were also very good. The dinner was very satisfying. Well, my dad sure was very happy about it!!! I highly recommend this place and would like to try to come back for dimsum; can’t wait!!!

I was a little sad to see Happy Seafood Restaurant was closed, but was happy and excited when I saw it was replaced with a new Chinese restaurant. I came here with my family on Memorial Day for a family dim sum and we were happy with our experience here. The décor, ambiance, and service is a lot better than Happy Seafood. The ladies that push the carts wear masks which I thought was a little weird, but I guess it’s also good because it prevents germs from spreading onto food. The ladies are also very friendly and generous. The dim sum here is good quality and delicious! During our brunch we also ordered a stir-fried rice vermicelli and that we typically order when we have dim sum. The stir-fried vermicelli was cooked just right and was really delicious! Golden Bay Restaurant is a good restaurant to come for a small family meal and small birthday dinner, not typical for a wedding dinner though. We haven’t tried their menu items for dinner, but looking forward to!

Celebrated my mom birthday :) The service and food was amazing. Restaurant was really busy so make sure to make a reservation don’t show up without one because the wait can be an hour. They also have a good wine selection just as the manager, John who can provide. The seafood dishes was perfect not overcook and fresh. We hade the pan sear short ribs which was amazing along with shrimp and glazed walnut make sure to ask for the mayo sauce on the side it can be heavy. The garlic chicken was perfectly tender. We had great selection of sautéed veggies done in every style of cooking. Come check it out! I know I will be back soon. Bön appetite!

3.5 stars. Hooray for a new dimsum restaurant that is 5 mins. walking distance from my house! I came here with my parents to yumcha at around 10am and there was no wait at all. The interior is pretty spacious and everything seemed pretty clean. The ladies that push the carts also wear masks to prevent spreading germs into the food so that’s definitely a big plus. I liked the seating arrangements! Normally at dimsum restaurants, they usually only have large round tables so if you come in a small group, you have to sit with strangers. However, here they offer small tables as well so our party of 3 was able to sit together at our own table. I would say the dimsum here is pretty alright. I thought the siumai was mouthwatering and delicious but my mom disagreed and said that she likes the ones at Joy Luck more. All of the other dimsum that we tried were pretty standard and not excessively salty, which was a plus. I despised the tripe though because it was flavorless, rough, and too chewy. Overall, this is a solid dimsum restaurant. Check it out if you’re in the area!
