This place was amazing. I love their all you can eat hot pot and I would get the hot broth. They seriously had the best selection of hot pot options. I loved coming here with a big group of people so that we can order a bunch of different food. It wasn’t as fun coming here with a smaller group because we didn’t get to try as many things. It was cool you can also get all you can eat sushi too. I wish they would re-open. Service was pretty good too. Sometimes the wait can be long.

Came here for the AYCE sushi and hotpot but mainly just the hotpot. For 20 dollars you can’t beat the amount you can keep ordering. But with that being said although my friends and I exceeded ordering the 20 dollars worth, the food wasn’t all that good. Let’s start off with the sushi, I suggest you got order any of it, it was pretty gross. The sushi was made with regular rice and the fish was not fresh at all. I ordered like three pieces of sashimi and the minute I picked one up it fell apart. What? Yeah but for the hotpot there were some decent picks. The fish balls were all good to go. I was hoping to order a lot scallops but they diced it into bits. Sneaky sneaky. The meat had a weird taste. The slices of fat beef were yummy, but the spicy beef just had a weird texture and flavor. The veggies were fine for the most part, it was good. I think we stayed a little too long, as the waiters seemed to hover over our table after a while. Very uncomfortable. It’s still a decent meal for the price, if you know you can beat the house I say do it. And one more thing cash only!!!

This is the first hot pot restaurant I’ve been to and it was a great experience! I loved the shrimp it was very big and the Japanese pumpkin too! Everything tasted fresh and the staff was very courteous. Me and my friend went there at lunch time so it was not that crowded. I love this place because they have a variety of food and it’s pretty cheap for the unlimited amount of food they serve you!

Definitely a go-to spot for all you can eat hot pot. It will definitely fill you up. They have a good amount of soup base choice. A decent range of food on their menu. Sure, it isn’t enough to share if you have a large group but just keep ordering. I like that they have sushi back on the menu again. Yum yum. Cuz if you don’t want hot pot, then definitely get the sushi.

They… changed their menu to include AYCE sushi too! Since it was in the price, my friend and I was like«Why not try it?» The sushi was soooo good. They use actual sushi rice! If you don’t like hotpot, just come here for sushi! They do give a lot of rice for the sushi, but the amount of rice for their rolls are just right! I can’t wait to return. In my previous review, I wrote the soy sauce was watered down. Not anymore! This has become my favorite hotpot place ever. Cheap, good quality, etc. Pros: — Good hotpot — delicious sushi w/ACTUAL sushi rice — the price — fixed watered down soysauce Cons — limited english among the staff — they didn’t have some items in stock — only three pieces of sashimi per person(but it’s understandable because otherwise they’d lose way too much money!) 13.99 $ per person for happy hour 14.99 $ per person for lunch 19.99 $ per person for dinner Come try it out! I would hate for this place to go out of business.

The food is cheap but the ingredients they give is worse. Either they forgot or not enough to share and the worst of all the seafood(like mussels, clams) arent even fresh. Their attitude like they don’t even want to be there. The staff just hanging around just watching tvb on their phones.

CONS: The staff are extremely RUDE! There is a limit on the amount of sashimi you can order. When I received my order… I could not believe what I saw. Words do no justice, only pictures will tell you they’re being skimpy. Unfortunately for the staff, I speak and understand cantonese… I was surprised to hear them talk so much smack about their customers. Complaining about not having enough business? This might be the reason why… PROS? Conveniently located in a neighborhood filled with better dining options.

There are several all you can eat hot pot places where I live, among which 86 superstar(or hottest 86) has the widest selection of food that you don’t have to pay extra for, though I feel like they don’t taste good as it was before they added sushi in the menu. Try their happy hour($ 15 if you check out between 5pm and 7pm, $ 20 after 7) with the same dinner menu.

I like the variety of this place. But when it comes to taste its just okay. Like if I had to pick an all you can eat hot pot spot I would still pick this just because of all the variety. Now that it’s changed owners or name or something it seems as if now it has a lot more food too such as claypot rice, and meals you can ask for. I hate that the sign says best check in brooklyn guaranteed or something like that, when its MOSTDEF not true. Like they had some type of thing where we were able to get free curry fishballs and fried squid legs and I must say that it was disgusting. That was the only time I ever tried something they«cooked». We had a table of 4 and none of us ate it after the first taste. Service is eh. They tend to forget a lot of orders once you place too many.

For $ 20, this place is not bad. You can’t really beat the price at this point. So why 2 stars? Actually, 2.5 stars at best. My boyfriend & I decided to come here over going to 99 Favor Taste in the other end of Brooklyn, and I don’t know if it was worth it(even though I haven’t tried 99 yet). Anyway, when we got there, the restaurant was pretty packed, but as we made our orders, people started leaving, and it emptied out. Our initial male server spoke terrible English, at best, which is fine, but him & one other female server seemed to hate their jobs, or «angry worker» as my boyfriend would put it, lol. I understand that it’s late and you want to get out, but it’s kinda(just kinda -.-) your job to «serve» people. It wasn’t like we were being rude or anything. We also had to ask more than once for a soup spoon and for water, which is fine, but don’t make us feel like you forgot about us. As we ate, we had another male server serve us, and his English was great. We seemed to communicate with him better and he gave better service. He looked like he was working extremely hard. Onto the menu — now I don’t know who sets the menu, but for all you can eat, it should actually BE all you can eat for sushi too. Although I do understand that it’s mainly all you can eat hot pot, the 3 piece limit per person for salmon was extremely PATHETIC. Each piece was such a tease, sliced so thinly that I would say that put together, it was probably actually only 1 piece of salmon. If you’re going to put it on the menu AND limit it, at least give a better portion. If you’re going to be cheap about it, don’t offer it; then you wouldn’t incur any losses, or make more profits. We were so disappointed. Likewise with the hand rolls — stuffed with rice. Typical, but still worth mentioning. As for everything else we ordered, the portions were great. We went through 3 rounds of beef slices, and a couple rounds of flounder. We had other things like shrimp, scallop, fish tofu, and fish balls, but the portions were very little(the scallop was also cut very thin, one order came with 4 shrimps, and two each of the others). Even though we can order as much as we want(supposedly), I would prefer if the scallops were cut a little thicker to have more substance to eat, and more quantity of shrimp at once. I liked the tea they served(ha gu cho?) because it was pretty refreshing. I don’t know if I would return here in the future though. I think there are better hot pot restaurants out there, and I am definitely willing to pay just a bit more for better quality.

Nothing special about this place. $ 20 for all you can eat hot pot and sushi. The sushi is average at best but what did you expect. All the hot pot food comes out quickly after you order. Can’t come here without ordering beef slices and fish. A good option if you don’t want to buy all the hot pot food yourself and cook at home.

Good hotpot place to go to especially when you get midnight cravings! The waiters are really nice and they have a large selection of food to choose from!(Cooked and raw) However, it’s too bad that they don’t have sushi on their AYCE menu anymore. But definitely one of my favorite hotpot spots on 86th st!

I was really looking forward to try out this restaurant. It’s an all you can eat hotpot, who can pass up a place like this in a chilly night. On top it was only $ 20(dinner). First, the atmosphere of restaurant was really mellowed and spacious. Here you get your own little pot, which was awesome. You’ll expect your traditional hotpot toppings. Variety of selections of meats to vegetables and noodles. There are additional costs for special selections. Like most aye hotpot, you make your own sauce. Again big selection of sauce to choose from, my personal favorite would be to mix garlic, ginger and soy sauce: the typical. Overall the food was good, I had a great time and I definitely devoured the beef! Haha! I would have given it five stars, if our food came a little faster. I don’t blame them it was a busy night. However one of the server was feeling fed up that night and was giving an attitude, but hey it was a long day. Overall costumer service was pleasing and friendly. Although I did have to ask three times if my spicy beef balls was ready! I would actually give it 4.5 stars! Definitely recommend!

Great variety of quality ingredients for hot pot, plus creative sushi options. My boyfriend and I each got a hot pot(his was spicy, mine was«herbal») and we loved it! This was our first time eating hot pot and it was so much fun! We also ordered sushi which came out on a beautiful tower. The presentation was lovely. We finished our meal with the homemade mango pudding. I can’t wait to go back!

It’s cold. It’s windy. It’s freezing. You didn’t wear enough clothing. You need something to warm you up, right? Let’s go eat some hot pot. Good idea! Hottest 86 has been rename to 86 Superstar. It has been renovated and it actually looks a lot nicer. Same thing as before, All You Can Eat Hot Pot and Sushi. They have added more to menu if you don’t want hot pot or sushi. They have raise the prices to $ 19.99 for hot pot during dinner time, but it is still a good deal. The hot pot menu is the still the same, I think. Good variety on the menu. Lots of options. I like ordering the fish, steak, beef slices, fish balls, fish tofu, and intestines. Try to order scallops a few times, but they never came through with it until my friend just order scallops and they told us they ran out. Could have told us earlier. Smh! Make sure to eat your veggies. They still have the condiments station, so mix, match, and get whatever sauce you want. Hot pot really hit the spot for me and it warmed me up. It’s AYCE, so dig in. Keep ordering if you can stomach it.

Update: More of a 3.5 star experience. I used to be a regular at Hottest 86. I have a Love/Hate relationship with All You Can Eat Hot Pot. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Hot Pot. However, I literally wanted to unbuckle my jean button during the middle of dinner… but of course, that’s not very lady-like in public. So I sucked it up and continued on with dinner even though my stomach was going to explode. Note to self: Wear sweat pants next time! This place used to be called Hottest 86 and they were closed for 4 months for renovations. Now, 86 Superstar is born. I’m sorry, but I can’t stop laughing over these cheesy names! The place is a little nicer, but not the same as it used to be. Lunch used to be $ 14.99 and Dinner was $ 16.99 and now it’s Lunch $ 16.99 and Dinner $ 19.99. It’s still an awesome deal though for AYCE. I used to love the herbal tea that they served for dinner and now it feels watered down. Things to try:(They have a great variety on their menu) — Fish pieces are by far my favorite dish — Steak and beef slices — Stuffed fish balls! They have these yellow fish eggs that squirks in your mouth. Avoid: — Clams are not fresh and have sand in them — Frog legs are better sauté rather than boiled One thing that really bugged me was that we «attempted» to order scallops 4 times throughout dinner. Instead of kindly telling us they ran out, they just kept coming back with dishes without scallops. I put my foot down and asked for the scallops one more time and they finally admitted that they didn’t have any left. Hmmm. I would have been fine if they had told me the first time around instead of being shady about it.

Wow. First to review. Never had an opportunity like this. This is just basically Hottest 86 only they changed their name and renovated. It’s basically the same shabu shabu/sushi AYCE place as before. So check out the link above for more info. The interior is renovated. Newer design, table, etc. I just find the wallpaper for the bathroom a little weird. It’s just old newspapers slapped onto the wall. Probably just cheaper that way. But that doesn’t matter right? Since it’s all about the food! It’s not that great for big groups. The tables cannot be moved. The maximum number of people per table is 6. They have an upstairs but they don’t open it during non-busy times so I can’t comment on that. My family was quite upset at this since we made a reservation for 8 and we couldn’t sit together. The food looks and taste just like Hottest 86. I like the fatty beef and lamb since I’m a carnivore. They have a decent selection of food items to choose from. I don’t think they added or took away any of the items. Just choose a soup base, your meats and veggies and start chowing down. I went for the lunch hour so it was $ 16.99 a person. I believe it is $ 19.99 for dinner. The price doesn’t seem that bad. It’s still one of my go-to hotpot AYCE restaurants. AYCE sushi is included. There are not many selections(maybe 6 to 8) and sometimes they don’t have certain items. So just letting you know ahead of time. Don’t get to upset by that. I tried the Spicy tuna rolls and it was pretty good. They did not have salmon which probably would have been better. The staff is very nice! They speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Be nice to them as this is a very hectic and stressful job to constantly be doing multiple things for so many groups of patrons. They tend to forget one or two items sometimes even though it was written down but just remind them and they’ll bring it for you.

Hottest 86 closed down and thus 86 Superstar was born! I have no idea where they come up with these funky restaurant names but I’m not complaining much. Came here with a friend for ayce hot pot. I really enjoyed the amount of food you get for the price, which was something like $ 16? The sauce bar is well stocked up which I love. Gotta make dat sauce for my fondue-d items ya know?! They also have a few rolls of sushi for the ayce menu on top of the mass amount of meats and veggies you can choose from– It had a great time learning what each veggie was called in Chinese, since Im an ABC and really don’t know much Chinese. Overall a decent joint for hotpot. I have not gone to the old place before this so I can’t judge how much this store has improved since the old one but I had a decent meal here. I will come back whenever I’m craving hotpot.
